    My endocrinologist did not explain the Dexcom G6 nor did her assistant. They had me freaking out causing a panic attack my anxiety was through the roof. Now I can reconsider putting this on me thanks to your video.

      I went to a PCP for an endocrinologist and the first thing she told me without doing a discovery was I could calculate and watch when I eat pizza. She did not check exercise habits, food intake, mental state, personal food struggles, or what foods I feel like I can live or live without. Also, right away she told me that I could split my Lantus in 2 doses. That stupid visit cost me with insurance $180. And the only reason I needed it was to get a prescription for insulin. Why are they not versed in Holistic nutrition or anything dietary? Who needs a doctor like that. What has happened to the American health system? In Mexico, that visit would have cost $50 with no insurance. Also, I can buy insulin over the counter without a prescription at a third of the cost. Food and exercise are the 2 most important things for diabetics to master. Water intake included.

    Awesome! Wish I had found your video 3 months ago. My diabetes education didn't show me anything. I threw away the transmitter because I didn't know it should last 3 moths. The insurance company was so generous they wouldn't give me a replacement. I offered to pay out of pocket, and they still wouldn't do it. Thanks for an awesome video and showing how to do it and why.

    Your videos have made it where I could actually change my sensor, not to mention put it on the first time! I cannot tell you how grateful I am! My story is long, but the short of it is my sugars have been very high (sometimes over 600) partially because I was having trouble remembering to take my insulin! Goes with having such high sugars. I never knew that high sugars could effect your memory! So they have decided to put me on an insulin pump, but wanted to get me used to using the Dexcom G6 first. Your videos are so well done. Your short, concise, and to the point and that combined with actually being able to watch and see what your doing, well it makes it about impossible to screw it up! Thank you SO much! Using the Dexcom reminds me to take my insulin and my sugars have come back down within normal range for the most part. But we're still going to use the pump. I have 45 prescriptions and it's a little overwhelming to manage it all, so we're trying to simplify things as much as possible! You my dear are a gem to this 61 year old newby!

      @DiabetesStrong  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you so much! just changed my sensor for the 1st time while watching your video! diagnosed with T1D this past January at 62 and it's been a terrifying and thoroughly exhaustive journey. I've been using the FS Libre but now my insurance insisted on the Dexcom. I had been used to pinching the fatty tissue when applying the FS so I had done the same thing when inserting the Dexcom and it was very painful so was kind of terrified to have to change it, but watching your video helped. I didn't pinch and the sensor was applied painlessly! Thank you so much!

      I am using libre 2 system , i recently had a incident with my condition, i was found unconscious on the kitchen floor. Vital signs not compatible with life b/p.pulse basically compressions were started: intubated and on ventilator. Body temp only registered 87. GCS 3 no response to pain.touch, movement. My son was called in california and told that they didnt believe

    • @shellyscorner
      @shellyscorner ปีที่แล้ว

      @@janpharr3170 Wow! You've really been through the ringer! I'm hoping you're doing okay now! I used the Libre as well and it was HORRIBLE! when I compared the number it gave me to what I got on the finger sticks, it was like, HOW IN THE WORLD was I supposed to figure out how much insulin to give myself! My fingerstick might say 132, but my Libre might tell me 239, or something stupid like that. I just felt like there was NO WAY I could safely use the Libre on its own! I took it to the doctor I see and told her to either give it to someone else that couldn't afford one or to use it to train other patients how to use it. She of course was aware of the problems I was having using it. So yours may have well told you to give yourself way to much insulin just like mine did. Had I not been checking against the finger sticks, I don't even want to think what would have happened had I just followed the Libre! I live completely alone! I go DAYS without seeing other people sometimes. I'd have been long since dead by the time some one would have found me! So glad your doing okay!

    I like that adhesive remover 🤩 I usually use coconut oil but I think I need to use this adhesive remover instead I wish I knew about it after having my babies lol the adhesive from the IVs will always leave a mark

      Thank you. I'm considering giving an overview/comparison of Omnipod 5, Tandem, and Medtronic. Thinking that might be helpful

    Thank you so much for this video. I am just getting started with a CGM. This is probably the most helpful set of instructions I’ve seen or read thus far. One question though - does it hurt at all when you apply the sensor to your stomach? I am going to have to install mine in my stomach as well because both of my arms are covered in tattoos and you can’t apply the device over tattooed skin.

      Glad it was helpful! I don't think it hurts. That being said, once in a blue moon the insertion will hurt. But I haven't seen a pattern between where I place it and the occasional pain

    Newly diagnosed diabetic. My nutrition counselor walked me thru this but the refresher is great I haven't had to do a new one yet I will use this for sure.
    Q. What brand of adhesive remover are you using

      I'm glad it was helpful. The brand is Uni-Solve, there's an Amazon link it in the video description

    I was terrified changing the sensor for the very first time. Did a couple of blunders but after watching your tutorial video it was easy. Thank You!

    I watch all your videos and love them - you are so informative and kind! I wanted to come back to this one because I just started Dexcom G6 11 days ago and had it changed for the first time yesterday. One thing I didn't know and doctor didn't say is that you're supposed to move it and not put it back on the same spot you first had it. The second time hurt like heck! I have it on my arm. I was worried about putting it on my stomach because I do insulin there (at least for now). The G7 and the Free Style supposedly have no transmitter. That is interesting. How do you feel about it now that you got your G7?

      Thank you.
      Yes, rotating where you put it is very important. And you’re correct Dexcom G7 doesn’t have a separate transmitter. Overall I like it. The short Bluetooth range is annoying but I consider it an upgrade
