Perry Saturn was asked the one-time if you took all the toughest guys from WCW and put them in a room it would be the last man standing he said Haku not even close barbarian was the only one in the room that he wouldn't kill kill in a fight. Yes he's right up there
Him and meng were criminally underrated in wcw. Not really anyone's fault. They were the number 3 tag team. Behind Steiners and Harlem Heat. No shame there. Two of the top tag teams in the era. After wcw folded up. One match I was wanting to see was him and meng vs acolytes. Be like the proverbial "I was watching a wrestling match and out of nowhere a fight broke out." I know usually monster tag teams work best being in the ring with non monsters. But I think they could have done some serious property damage.
Me and a friend of mine watched some random WCW programming a while back, and I remember being in awe when him and Meng were no-selling the nWo. I remember legitimately cheering them on, just because it was so awesome to watch someone basically say 'fuck you' to the nWo like that. It was amazing.
@@MassGainingGuy Agreed. The Powers of Pain were a great team that should have won the titles. I got to meet his partner the Warlord when I was like 10. Anf I swear, one of his biceps was bigger than my head
Met him when I was about 12. He had no problem with my name, but my brother Tyler had to repeat his name like 20 time's because he kept messing it up. Super cool dude. Like how everyone calls him Barb lol.
They got a bit overshadowed in WCW in the mid nineties--no surprise; they had a stacked tag division at the time--but him and Haku: the Faces of Fear, were an absolutely terrifying combo. Any other time and place and they would've been tag team for the ages.
Micah Ingram sorry man gonna have to agree to disagree Mark fought other trained killers Haku never did. Hell I would pick mighty mouse Johnson to beat haku.
Micah Ingram yup he's the number one pfp mixed martial artist in the world and a guy who had some formal training and never actually fought for anyone live and all we have is stories. Good luck with that.
Barbarian managed by #1 Paul Jones. I remember how he would easily press guys over his head and then come off the top rope across the other side of the ring with that diving headbutt. Amazing athlete!!
One of the few wrestlers that came to my tiny town in S.C. he was the scariest looking guy I had ever seen as a 6-7 year old. How was I to know he was a great guy. Just completely scared the who damn town that day.
During the PoP with Fuji vs Demolition feud, between the five of them I could not understand a single word. Still more articulate than Ultimate Warrior.
I started WWF right after wrestlemania 4 and stopped after mankind showed up and i dont think barb won a single match that entire time. He was basically a jobber. Such wasted potential
Legion of Doom were coming soon at that point. POP were carbon copies of LOD and Vince wanted LOD and Demolition to feud when they arrive. He wasnt going to keep 3 teams with face paint and Demolition were the tag Champs so POP split up
Was ok with the split. But imagine putting them back together down the road. Re-branded. With each still retaining Heenan and Slick as managers. No way in hell they aren't winning the belts.
I always liked the barbarian I thought he should have had a bigger run than he had he was awesome and I can't remember ever seeing him get pinned and for sure he never give y
A couple people mentioned it, but I gotta say this; fun fact about Barb, he is a really nice guy but he is a BAD son of a bitch if you piss him off! Like Jim said, he is tougher than nails, tough to the point that its SCARY. The fucker will snatch mace out of a cops hand and spray it into his mouth, smash glass over his own head and bash his head into a cop car with no fucks given...but you know who is even SCARIER...mama, his wife. Dude, she will FUCK HIM THE HELL UP!!!! No bullshit!!! Mama is known and loved throughout the locker room as barb is. Any worker that has worked with them will tell you she is a delight if you get the chance to meet her. But man, if Barb steps out of line, she will LITERALLY drag his ass by the ear!
the16th6toothson i became Vinces driver in late 88,we were all drinking across from our hotel one my first tv taping trip and as we are all walking to our rooms Patterson had his arm around my shoulder as i was putting the key in the door and behind me i hear Vince saying sternly"Pat,i dont think so".I was green and didnt know about him and Terry Garvin,i didnt get smartened up until a few days later by Jessie Ventura.
Truth be told! The Road Warriors at least inspired great ripoffs though? Demolition, The Powers Of Pain were formidable teams in their own right however! The Blade Runners (Sting and The Ultimate Warrior) didn't last long enough but given they split and became famous guys on their own in separate Wrestling organizations like the WWF and NWA/WCW. i'd say the Road Warrior rip offs were at least famous or found fame in their own right because of them due to their inspiration! All of them were faced painted, muscular wrestling machines, afterall.
Was the barbarian tough?? As Bobby heenan said at royal rumble 92 "why do you think they call him barbarian he's not a hairdresser on his day off" lol
I just watched that. Love when he said when I managed him he barely liked me
@@corymenedez2369 lol yeah I remember that lol

Hahaha that’s great.😁
R.I.P. Bobby Heenan🙏❤️
Heenan was the goat
Supposedly, the only thing Barbarian was afraid of was his wife...
True, she'd normally be the one to get him out of trouble, it likely got ugly when they got home.
I think Barb got more bruises from Mama Seini than he did in the ring. 😂😂
Same with Haku
The Island Boys are Known to Hold Their Women in the Highest Regard
@@frankbonini9128 that’s a beautiful thing.🤔👍❤️
Just watched 92 Rumble, him and Warlord were HUGE, their look got a pop out of the crowd
I met him and Tony Atlas at a Wal Mart in Newport News VA. 2 of the nicest guys I've ever met. I was so surprised. Wrestlers truly are great actors
🚨 HAKU & BARBARIAN BOTH REAL LIFE MONSTERS 👹 💯% FACTS

They were a great tag as Faces Of Fear, I hated that they didn’t have a run against The Outsiders and NWO
The Ironic Thing About the Island Boys is that as Much as You Hear About Their Bad Ass-ery, You Also Hear About Their Kindhearted-ness
Them island boys are def very humble respectful men!! But u def dont want to tangle with them
Man, I remember seeing the Barbarian in the '80's. The biggest SOB I had ever seen.
You never saw Warlord?
Gene Andersen barbarian story is still stuck in my head since I first heard it
LMMFAOOF! 🤣😂
The Powers of Pain vs. Road Warriors was my favorite feud when I was a kid.
Powers of Pain were powerful as Hell. If they would of had mic skills who knows where they could have gone.
The Barbarian gave Tito Santana one of the best clotheslines in wrestling history at Wrestlemania VI.
Almost knocked his head off!
Yes. Was up there with the Akeem vs Shawn Michaels clothesline from Mania 5.

I knew the Barbarian from working out in the gym. He is such a nice and polite gentleman !
I wish Mattel would get the Barbarian's likeness rights, to release his action figures.
I would of loved to see the Barbarian vs Brock.
I remember him in Paul Jones army.
Barbarian really should have been a main event guy somewhere
Barbarian wasn't no joke, he was in good tag teams though.
Barbarian was 6'4" 320lbs of all muscle and mean as hell it sounds like
Met him when I was about 12. He had no problem with my name, but my brother Tyler had to repeat his name like 20 time's because he kept messing it up. Super cool dude. Like how everyone calls him Barb lol.

I remember barbarian intentionally giving Benoit a concussion because he was upset about losing
Barbarian stayed in WCW until mid 2000 when they started losing money ..
Watts tried to push him when Ron Simmons was champion and he had Cactus Jack as his manager
He was a cool looking Wrestler.
Hands down best channel on TH-cam .
Saturn said he would be the only guy to give Haku a fight
I wouldn't want him to, we wouldn't have a world left to live on.
Mark Hunt would smash both... and he's polanisian as well but he's a professional fighter.
Micah Ingram you think Mark Hunt is going too follow the rules? Hes a professional fighter unless Haku and Barbarian have a gun they are losing.
The Barbarian was one of the toughest wrestlers i have ever watched
Gene Anderson must have been in a league of his own then
Movie cornette is referring is Bodyslam
Barb was a great worker,he could have ripped anyone apart!!!!I wish he could won the HVW title because he deserve the big Belt!!!
Barbarian managed by #1 Paul Jones. I remember how he would easily press guys over his head and then come off the top rope across the other side of the ring with that diving headbutt. Amazing athlete!!

Trench Coat Barbarian in 2000 WCW, experimenting with 2000s Indy moves is amazing. CHECK OUT!
Love these stories.
During the PoP with Fuji vs Demolition feud, between the five of them I could not understand a single word.
Still more articulate than Ultimate Warrior.
Named my first DnD character after Konga 1986
The Barbarians language barrier was the only cause of his mediocrity in the wrestling business
I wish Barbarian and Meng took out the NWO, or helped Sting at least. :-)
It could have worked for sure.
Cornette makes a good point regarding a *good* manager. That is, NOT Paul Jones or Mr. Fuji.
I always said he was way underused. Definitely shouldve been given a better spot up the card.
I started WWF right after wrestlemania 4 and stopped after mankind showed up and i dont think barb won a single match that entire time. He was basically a jobber. Such wasted potential
Hated it when the WWF split up the Powers of Pain.

Sumo wrestling background
I didn't know he was really Samoan.
He isn't Samoan, he is Tongan
Tonga John
The Faces of Fear was a huge waste of potential .They should have gotten together sooner .
"Hate to say steriod guy." But you did, so...
Pretty much every wrestler in the 80s was a "steroid guy". Not sure where he was going with that comment. Should of just said big muscle guy.
I wonder if Brian last actually reads these damn comments
He used to respond....
Tommy Young!!!!
tbg1972 i still dont know know that story, something about Barb in the shower?
the16th6toothson wow, wrestlers are really manly men, eh?

He comes across as a lovely guy in interviews. I sure as shit wouldn't want to mess with him in a bad mood.
Barbarian was\ is a powerhouse.
If only he could of cut a promo.
Or have!
Never drew a dime
I was always surprised at the push he got in WCW for being such a boring character.
His clothesline off the top was really nice, though.
The powers of pain ripped off the Road Warriors, as did the blade runners.
Truth be told! The Road Warriors at least inspired great ripoffs though? Demolition, The Powers Of Pain were formidable teams in their own right however! LOL out loud - the myth of Samoans. Italians are, as a group, 10x tougher.
fjvideo ummmmmmm no they’re not
What’s the shortest book ever written? Italian war heroes
No guys, he's right. If you group every Italian that's ever existed in history, I do think they just might be tougher than Barbarian.
