Only last week I was thermalling in my glider during a competition, looking down from 4,000' at a Fletcher at about one-tenth of my altitude doing top-dressing runs. Neat to watch from that perspective.
Great work Jimbo! I have seen similar aircraft’s towing soaring planes but more like the yellow one you were flying in your “Talk to ATC” video. Greetings from Sweden!
Used to race home from school to sweep the heaps for planes that used a strip near home ... had Three James's Fletcher's going briefly one afternoon. One of them I believe was one of the old 310 hp Continental Mk1's? it had the most beautiful backfire as it throttled off on finals ... happy childhood days back in real NZ.
Good to see you back with some amazing tech, back in the day the Kiwi pilots used to come over to the UK for the AG season, some using Rice Paper flag markers, that was high tech then :-) Fly Safe
Hey Jimbo, great video. Yeah the 502B a bit under powered for NZ. I know Mondsy wishes he still had his 402B - prefers it over the 502. Stay safe - and don’t run into the loader truck. 😂😂😂😂
Thanks Jimbo. Could watch it all day. Does the air tractor fly flat enough where you have good view of terrain immediately in front? the camera angle makes it look a lot more obscured out front there, adds to the pucker factor a bit. Looks like beautiful undulating countryside to fly around there.
Nice one sir!! It's been awhile..thanks for doing this... A comment,,from our perspective, I feel closer and more "in control" when u are in the Cresco cockpit!! Weird.. Stay safe jimbo..
I see you have V2track, our operations uses that as well. They are a NZ company right? Thanks for sharing. 300m is pretty short, especially if its not sloped, well done!
That light bar setup does look a bit tricky. Does it thow you off at all having it so close to the cockpit? I've only ever had them on the far side of the hopper.
We quit using bucket trucks in Mississippi to many getting crushed in the cockpit if it falls gone to auger trucks with just a pipe and auger sticking out
Never heard of that happening here, but that is not to say it has never happened. They have had these style loaders in NZ for decades and they work well and are designed to be safe. I imagine the Auger trucks you guys use would be far too slow here when you take into account the average spreading time is 4 minutes or so.

Yahoo. Another video. I always enjoy your work. Keep them coming.
Good to hear from you.

Awesome video! Stay safe!
Mesmerising, you make it look so easy.

massive respect for doing that job! amazing! subbed!
Cheers!

Jimbo you're the coolest! Great video
Rotorua...is that the airstrip up mamaku...awesome video mate
I can't recall the area, I think NE end of the lake 👍
Great video, thx👍🏻
Super, my friend 🙂
Great flying on take-off and landing

Stay safe jimbo..
great vid jimbo!
Nice work Jimbo, lets see some wire work!
“You can cut the cheese and not get blamed for it”
How many non kiwis get that 🤣🤣🤣
#jimbogems
Awesome video mate, at the moment I'm planning on being a top dressing pilot...
Youve got to have someone on staff to program the computers for the run? Or is that you as well? Your cockpit is quite sophisticated.
Once she's set up, she's all automatic. No staff required
Do you guys ever get to do regular crop spraying doing the low and slow?
Choppers do most of the spraying in NZ 😎
@@JimboBurgess Well that's no fun! I love to watch you fixed wing ag-pilots doing the work.
Hey Jimbo welcome back to YOUR channel,it has been awhile 👍🥹😜
I don't know what you're talking about 🤐🤣
@@JimboBurgess funny man 👍
Do you prefer this plane over the Cresco???
I don't think you'll run into many other aircraft at 100 feet agl in a valley in a control zone. Well I'm not going there if I can help it haha
Haha yes, and yet I still had to hold out the way of our airliner friends 😆

New Zealand.....cool.
What kind of crops do you grow??? Just curious.
This is probably a dairy farm, he said the pH makes the grass grow better so it’s most likely pasture for dairy cattle
@@adamk6009 thanks for the reply ....it is very cool to see how other countries do things...very educational
Adam got er spot on here. Spreading onto grass. We do spread onto crops also, though not in this instance 🤠
Boogie-compatible powerplants are important.
Cool!
What kind of pilot are you because I look at your channel and I see that you have videos about lukla airport and then you have videos of crop-dusting
One that has a broad ability to modify or adapt.
I'm a fixed wing pilot 🚀
Hehey it's been a while since the last flight 🤙
Well, stay healthy and Safety First!✌😉
That light bar setup does look a bit tricky. Does it thow you off at all having it so close to the cockpit? I've only ever had them on the far side of the hopper.
The external lightbar is definitely my preference. That and having the angle intercept LEDs 🤠
G'day Jimbo. Does the computer work purely on GPS data or does it look at other variables like AGL and speed?
Currently it uses GPS for ground speed and location info 👍

Where's the Cresco Jimbo?
I mainly fly the Tractor now. Still plenty of Cresco vids enroute 😎
Is that MAA that you are flying
I'm driving Miss MAE here 🤠
Never hit the loader truck ?
I've had it the other way around once or twice 😵
@@JimboBurgess Ground collision. Did he get a ticket from the cops. It was not a hit and run i hope.
I would have thought just the fact you're powered by a turbine, rather than noisy Lycoming 720 would be all the noise abatement necessary?
You bet... but I know which sound I prefer!
Dude looks like to me 😎 you've got it going on. Fly. Zone. 👍✌️. Has. Anyone lived and. Flown around an. Air force. Base. 😂.???
I. Guess I take it for granted. I've been around. Crop-dusting all my. Life. Don't do. Nothing the. Bird😢 don't. Do. Youll be just fine. 👍✌️🤞😁
Jimbo, everyone always wants to know how to get into this business. My question is, How does one find their way OUT of this business?
Traditionally, they either get into the airlines, or stack it in a smoking hole in the ground.
Most get in because it's something they are passionate about, and for this reason most stay. I know a couple who have moved on to airlines 🚀
Gosh Jimbo, somehow I was expecting you to be better looking.
