So, this game was originally release in 1997. People considered the fact that the song had lyrics was a spoiler. I get what you're saying about hearing other things in this song, but this song came out before all those references mentioned did. Also, Sephiroth is a reference to the Sefirot on the Tree of Life in Kabbalistic mysticism.
One Winged Angel is such an iconic song. Every fan of the Final Fantasy franchise (or video games in general for that matter) instantly recognize this theme song. If you want to hear more versions, I highly recommend the Black Mages version and One Winged Angel: Rebirth (which is the one from FF VII: Remake). It's also arguably one of the sources of the phrase 'why do I hear boss music'

One of Uematsu's influences were (70s) prog bands and the intro of "One Winged Angel" was inspired by "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix

I've always loved the music from the Final Fantasy franchise boss fights. It's one of the reasons I'll replay the games over and over.
The scean with this music is insane how sephiroth appears and floats down to you and readies to battle
Watched my older bro play ff7 when it came out and then later in life during Kingdom Hearts 1 I try to complete the arena mode. I then gasp and scream when I figured out Sephiroth was my opponent ….. Sora got murdered shortly after

I do love a song that can sell the gravity of a character that has the power to destroy the world and probably has already succeeded (even if you win, that meteor is still on the way)

Misha Mansoor actually did release covers of FF7 themes under his solo project name "Bulb". I remember listening to it wayyy back over ten years ago. It's not really as "Djenty" as Periphery is but still incredible nonetheless.

One winged angel is the most famous video game song of all time and Final Fantasy music is by far the most loved video game music. When other game franchises has 20 great songs with maximum great 5 per game, final fantasy games has 50 great songs, per game and thousands in total.
And yet it's nowhere near our most viewed OST reaction. Guess FF fans have better things to do than waste time on TH-cam. But we'll try to react to more FF regardless cos this was AWESOME. /Andrei
Yeah but other popular games has only a 1-3 popular songs. Off course a lot of people are searching for them, there is no other to chose from.
This is a 27 year old song from a game with 60 songs which all is almost as popular and thousands in total in the franchise. It's hard to get the attention.
FF7 Remake won best soundtrack of the year 2020, FF16 2023 and FF7 Rebirth will guaranteed win this year.

Whilst the Advent Children version is good, I enjoy this version more as I feel the orchestra sounds more epic, and I absolutely love orchestral music.
I always feel orchestra + metal makes the most epic sound, but they have to be conceived to go together

If you guys ever react to another version of this song definitely react to the One Winged Angel: Advent Children version (NOT the Advent Children Complete version that's a different version). It ads way more to it and just makes the song so much more awesome!
