Great video. One note, the Guastavino tiles are not Italian but were brought to NY by the Spaniard Rafael Guastavino, who got a patent for this Catalan-styled vault construction and built it all over NY.

That´s right! Guastavino was Spanish from Valencia and he built some 250 buildings in NYC and more than one thousand in the rest of the country. His specialty was the flame retardant tiles he used to cover domes and ceilings. Great architect, indeed.

Great collaboration and hidden gems for tourists and native New Yorker's alike. My hidden gem is in upper Manhattan inside Inwood Hill Park by 215th... Shorakkopoch Rock, a site where Peter Minuit bought the island of Manhatta from the Native Indians.. Keep up your fine work.

Amazed by the timing!! I am reading NEW YORK by Edward Rutherfurd, and it tells the story of NYC from 1664 up to 2001. I am enjoying so much your video today, as I can see the places that are reflected in the book. Thanks a lot, you guys, that is really rewarding! Well done. The Wall St. bombing was quickly cleaned up as to avoid a bank panic. The bomb left a crater in the street and was filled in by the end of the day.
Chambers St. has three separate stations. The 1 2 3, the A C, and the J Z. Which one? I assume the J Z since it's near a cluster of NYPD facilities...

As you walked into Cannon's Walk, I had to pause the video because my main thought was "I recognize that area!" I didn't recognize Cannon's Walk itself, since I didn't realize that area existed. Rather, I recognized the building you walked through to get to it. A few years ago, some friends and I sat on those colorful benches enjoying our ice cream from Big Gay Ice Cream.

Being Irish I was intrigued as to why there's an obelisk dedicated to Robert Emmet in Manhattan, so I done some reading. It's not actually dedicated to Robert Emmet, it's to his older brother Thomas Emmet, who went to America and became a lawyer after Robert died in the failed Irish rebellion of 1803.

You can draw a straight line from any point A to any Point B, not out of the ordinary.

Johnny Culver that wasn’t the extraordinary thing. He said there was another obelisk _exactly_ in the middle of point A and point B.

It is Thomas Emmet's memorial in St. Paul's Chapel. He was brother to Robert Emmet. Thomas came to America and was a lawyer. Robert Emmet was hung by the British in Ireland in 1803.

Jon, I have a suggestion for you: why don’t you live city tour? You have great knowledge about the city and I think viewers will like it. I live in NJ. If you want, I may be able to help you shooting the videos.

Definitely vist Lombardi's it may look like another pizza slice shop in NYC. But its actually the oldest pizzeria in The Americas. Go there and you can get a literal "slice of history"

New York City is the most important commercial center in America BECAUSE there aren't many streets predating 1835. New York isn't afraid to make room for the new. It doesn't want to be an open air museum.
