The night we met I knew I needed you so And if I had the chance I'd never let you go So won't you say you love me I'll make you so proud of me We'll make 'em turn their heads Every place we go So won't you please Be my little baby Say you'll be my darling Be my baby now I wish I had been born in the 60's and meet these truly talented & beautiful ladies.. Their Vocals & Performances is Sheer Class unlike today’s trash selling the bodies to promote themselves!!
This was truly a "great day" for black America. Ronnie could move an audience like no other. Everyone felt her, and adored her. She had this particular kind of "charming appeal" that nobody else had in her day. She most certainly was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my lifetime.
I thought you were referring to the Black dancers. Finally! Yes, Ronnie was special. And, most of the best girl groups were African-Americans. Loved Ronnie.
I just keep watching this clip over and over! I love those sideways looks Ronnie does with those eyes...and those hoots and squeals, particularly the one at 2:10 just KILLS me! Nedra is cute and Estelle is a beauty too. But Ronnie could make a bishop kick a hole through a stained-glass window! It's this video that turned me into a Ronettes fan.
What kind of music is this? No lip-synching? No auto-tuning? No oversinging? No unintelligible lyrics? No skimpy costumes? No half-naked backup dancers? Just pure talent??? This is madness!!! XD
Amazing, the "magic", the "realness " comes through these film/tv clips of that special time. And the Ronettes-their voices, movements, their smiles-this IS why man cannot stop thinking about, loving woman.
Yes. I remember one high school dance where they had to replay this song four times in a row. That's how popular it was. They (teachers) had to intervene to get the song changed because people were dancing MUCH TOO SLOW :) :) :)
1st time seeing this awesome song performance! Grew up liking the song & this morning it popped up as a suggestion! Love it! All around splendid! A tutorial needed for today's performers! Ladies looking mesmerizing, natural eye brows, slick moves to a beat & rythm, crowd involvement, sexy yet modest & rocking out!
What Ronnie communicates in this song is love and total fun -- she's really into this song -- she really means it, and she loves singing it -- what a smile! -- my vote for best smile in pop history. But seriously, this is a masterpiece performance -- very rare to see something like this. She was still young -- and perhaps the song had just made it onto the charts.
August of 1963. Starting my Sophomore year in high school. I turned 16 in two months. I still have the original 45rmp record. Remember it very well on the radio.
Look how sexy these girls look. They didn't need laser beams. They didn't need explosions. They didn't have to be half nude like today.Excuse me,did I say sexy,I meant really hot.I lived through that era.We had fun when we went to dances.Didn't have to worry getting knifed or shot at and the music was great. You can have today,I'll stick with yesterday.
Nothing like 60's hysteria for the ground breaking bands of the day. I just love the go go girls dancing on the podiums! Where has all the excitement gone?
I like the fact that they were so attached to the Beach Boys.Actually Brian Wilson wroten some of their songs. No wonder why they were so fabulous. With that combination of talents.!🤗
This type of videos bring history. Before 1920, women were not allowed to wear pants, vote, or owe property. We have come a long way, thank God. God bless these girls.
As music has changed over the years, from Big Band &Swing in the 40's to now, I have to say, those of us lucky enough to have grown up in the 60's & 70's were blessed with some of the best music ever. Im so proud I have great memories from those years. I was born in '59 so some of the 60's music I didnt get into until later, but man oh man, what a time we grew up in. Classic music & class acts!
The dancers.... they're dancing to the drum beat and not the rhythm of the music itself... looks like they're excercising in a 1980s fitness commercial/show
+Franklin NJ Thanks for pointing that out! Never noticed in the dozens of times I watched this vid. I've commented before it's in Europe because I see the Telefunkin cameras which were not used in the U.S.
Phil Spector, the guy responsible for their fame and fall out. He was with Ronnie and so, he feared they would become too famous and outgrow him. So he basically withheld a lot of their musical catalogue at their peak and that gave The Supremes a foot into the star light.
The Supremes and Ronettes were different in terms of Image. The Ronettes were Family who along with The Shangri-Las were The First Bad Girls of Rock while The Supremes were the First Glamorous African American Women on TV. Sadly only Diana Ross came out of that era with any Money while the rest ended up Broke who had to fight tooth and nail to get theirs some of which to this day never got recompensated on.
Because of Phil Spector's bat shit crazy insecurity and neurosis...wanted to keep Ronnie on the shelf all for himself. The same mental illness that led to his favorite pastime of inviting women to his mansion, drugging them up and then playing power trips with guns. Spector is a piece of shit...I hope he enjoys the rest of his days in prison with a 400 pound "wife" who whitewashes the inside of his prostate every night.
Because 'The Supremes' had a much broader repertoire and 'The Ronettes' had a very similar sound in all their songs. Although both are great and I also prefer 'The Ronettes'.
There are times, when I remember the 60,s and the incredible fun and life I had, I actually tear up knowing that nothing like this will ever happen again. I have my memories, but God I would give anything to go back.
Ronnie was and is still awesome. For one thing, when she turned 50, we saw her perform live in Boston's city plaza, and she had the twentysomething guys yelling how gorgeous she was. When Amy Winehouse died a year or two ago, Ronnie released a single and donated the proceeds, and she still looks great at 68/69.
This is Brian Wilson's favorite ever record. He says of this in Q Magazine's 1001 Best songs Ever: "This is a special one for me. What a great sound, the Wall of Sound. Boy, first heard this on the car radio and I had to pull off the road, I couldn't believe it. The choruses blew me away; the strings are the melody of love. It has the promise to make the world better."
You have it backwards. The Ronettes were "big time" before Beatlemania. And the Stones were the opening act for the Ronettes when they toured England. Read Keith Richards's autobiography and you'll understand that the Ronettes were at the top before the British Invasion. Keith's speech at the Hall of Fame induction of the Ronettes says it all.
The night we met I knew I needed you so
And if I had the chance I'd never let you go
So won't you say you love me
I'll make you so proud of me
We'll make 'em turn their heads
Every place we go
So won't you please
Be my little baby
Say you'll be my darling
Be my baby now
I wish I had been born in the 60's and meet these truly talented & beautiful ladies.. Their Vocals & Performances is Sheer Class unlike today’s trash selling the bodies to promote themselves!!
What ever happened to the the world of real music with passion, joy and grace?
This was truly a "great day" for black America. Ronnie could move an audience like no other.

Ja das sind wunderbare Songs! Gefallen mir sehr gut. Und ich höre sie immer noch gerne an. LG Anna

The dancers in the background are the best!! Best era everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What kind of music is this?

Real Music? from the 60s
They captured the times -- wow I really miss it -- yet here it is forever!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing, the "magic", the "realness " comes through these film/tv clips of that special time. And the Ronettes-their voices, movements, their smiles-this IS why man cannot stop thinking about, loving woman.

They were good performers. They were loved for sure.
they are beautifull
Its amazing to think someone is hearing this song for the 1st time, what a lucky and magical experience.
What Ronnie communicates in this song is love and total fun -- she's really into this song -- she really means it, and she loves singing it -- what a smile! -- my vote for best smile in pop history. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members.....it's all just about the music! Thank you for posting...
If time could only keep the Ronnettes young to be the biggest stars today
The greatest pop song ever. Period.
How can anybody give this a thumbs down? These were some bad chicks
this is so powerful I can't get over it......Its gonna blow the roof off
August of 1963. Starting my Sophomore year in high school. I turned 16 in two months. I still have the original 45rmp record. Remember it very well on the radio.
Exceptional live vocals. Even better than the studio version - unbelievable!
Those were the days.

I sing this to my gtandbabies! Lyrics can't get any better!! Thank you for posting.
lyrical genious. notorious pen. physically fit.

OMG, those outfits, the hair do's, and the go-go girls dancing in the background, that is soooooooooo 1960's. AWESOME!!!
Fuck, they're gorgeous. Gorgeous voices, gorgeous charisma, gorgeous smiles. They owned that stage.
The swear added nothing to your nice post.
shigsho Neither did your comment.
Fun fact, these girls couldn't sing for shit it's all after production stuff. Good song tho
We lost legendary icon Ronnie Spector today 🕊 🕯
Thank you for the music Ms. Spector-The Ronettes
Great song from the good days.
Pimpoyo de loyola...The Ronettes melodious voice always tremble the feet of their audiences!
FRANK1FM I'll second that emotion, Frank! Great days...
You do realise all the dancers are literally half dressed...?! 😂
No one is looking at the dancers Helen.
nothing better than live
Man she was so cute!
Nothing like 60's hysteria for the ground breaking bands of the day. I just love the go go girls dancing on the podiums! Where has all the excitement gone?
Them ladies were the only girl group to tour with the beetles thats epic!
you mean The Beatles? lol
yeah sorry about my spelling lol
I like the fact that they were so attached to the Beach Boys.Actually Brian Wilson wroten some of their songs. No wonder why they were so fabulous. With that combination of talents.!🤗
Great song from 3 great ladies- the Ronettes were sexy without being sleazy.
They are so beautiful..
Ronnie Bennett (let's not call her by that other name) - living proof that a woman can be devastatingly sexy while being dressed as Chairman Mao
That is so funny.... but true!
Yeah
This type of videos bring history. Before 1920, women were not allowed to wear pants, vote, or owe property. We have come a long way, thank God. God bless these girls.
she could really sing. no auto-tune.
I'm from Colombia and I just fell in love with this group, what an amazing song *-*
There is something eternally childlike about Ronnie Spector's voice...perhaps it's the secret of her appeal.
very beautiful, they and the song .. I really, beautiful memories of my youth ... congratulations ..
fab song fab time x
They are so petite with all that hair! :))

Amazing, just saw her live on PBS Girl can still sing 67 yrs old Loved her when I in High School
The image director still deserves a face slap for not showing Nedras Solo Dance.
?
flipping awesome, still blows me away
Was this live in Paris, because time 3:05 shows the Eiffel Tower in the background?
+Franklin NJ Thanks for pointing that out! Never noticed in the dozens of times I watched this vid. I've commented before it's in Europe because I see the Telefunkin cameras which were not used in the U.S.
GO ESTELLE GO GIRL!! She killed it with that dancing!
Why the Supremes got all the attention I will never know
Phil Spector, the guy responsible for their fame and fall out. He was with Ronnie and so, he feared they would become too famous and outgrow him. So he basically withheld a lot of their musical catalogue at their peak and that gave The Supremes a foot into the star light.
That sure fits . Thank you

Always loved!
Those dancers were shuffling before the EDM shuffling scene.
Conversations In Welsh O, no thanks. What's your problem, man?
I love my Mom but I'm totally jealous that THIS WAS THE MUSIC she listened to growing up!!!!
I came here to get me some Veronica Bennett...yum!
Dude she's old now.
she is the hottest
There are times, when I remember the 60,s and the incredible
fun and life I had, I actually tear up knowing that nothing like
this will ever happen again. I have my memories, but God I
would give anything to go back.
The producers must have told them to tone it down, because if they really wanted to, they would have danced circles around the "professionals."
Darrin Baker They did anyway!
Darrin Baker The Ronettes cleaned up well. The Three Stooges were better dancers than the "Professionals.'
Ronnie was and is still awesome. For one thing, when she turned 50, we saw her perform live in Boston's city plaza, and she had the twentysomething guys yelling how gorgeous she was. When Amy Winehouse died a year or two ago, Ronnie released a single and donated the proceeds, and she still looks great at 68/69.
that segregation in the crowd was on point
Yep, I couldn't help but notice that.

PARA ALGUIEN ESPECIAL

Truly, artists about 40 years before their time. Truly unique and talented.
Love this song. I never knew that go-go dancers existed in 1963!
Top Top Top 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
It's gone forever....glad I lived through the 60's....great memories, dances, frat and sorority parties....proms.....great times, great music....

from korea ♡
I love the Hey Ocean cover of this. I think it really captures the heart of the original song, while giving it a fresh, uptempo spin on it.
Great song by a fantastic group of women. They could sing, they could dance and they were just plain great entertainers.
.
love this song,
Excellent performers
One of the greatest songs of its era. I can't stop hearing it in my mind since I found this video. I always loved this song.
Raw talent and energy displayed here .
no need for special laser lights, naked bodies, processed voices, music that's over produced.
This song is pure perfection. I would take a handful of songs by The Ronettes over the entire catalogues of Madonna, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry any day.
I grew up with this music and thank god for you tube so I can watch it over and over.
To sing this song live so well... what class... what talent... just... Wow!
girl group dancing at it's best.
Their style is so cool, effortless beauty right there.
20 years old & this is the generation i belong in. music back then just tingles the soul. there so pretty
I luv this song!!!! The Ronettes were a great girl group!!!!
One of the best ever - such a great production for the time. And Ronnie was such a heartthrob!
One of my fav songs of all time... and Ronnie is just beautiful
