- "Snoopy's Reunion" was always one of my favorite "modern" Peanuts specials (since it came out in the 1990s, when by that time they were using the blocky "PEANUTS" logo and Charles Schulz's more wiggly drawing style of the later years) and one thing I loved about it was the bluegrass/country music Snoopy and his siblings performed at a few points in the cartoon. Here are two full tracks from the special, the only clear ones I could find without any dialogue (not counting the credits), though there are a few sound effects, but nothing too distracting.
The band had Snoopy leading on acoustic guitar (perfect instrument for our favorite beagle), along with Marbles on the banjo, Belle and Spike on violin, Olaf on the jug, Andy on the drums, Molly on the mandolin and Rover on the steel guitar/dobro. Molly and Rover were named/created for the special, and did not originally appear in the comic strip or in any other specials like Spike, Olaf, Andy, Marbles and Belle did.

In IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE CHARLIE BROWN, it is true that Charlie Brown got NO Halloween candy (on Halloween), NO Valentine (on Valentine's Day), and NO Easter egg (on Easter). The Easter Beagle hid two extra eggs, before stopping at the first two kids (Peppermint Patty and Marcie). Charlie Brown got no Easter egg.
I read one of the last few pages in the book version (and this is what was read on PAGE 25):
PAGE 25
"By the time the Easter Beagle reached Charlie Brown, his bag was empty. Charlie Brown sighed. Of course, he would not get anything. First nothing but a trick or treat bag of rocks on Halloween, no Valentines on Valentine's Day, and now no Easter egg on Easter. No matter what day it was, he was still Charlie Brown".
Well, I could have made an ALTERNATE ENDING to both the video and book adaptation. That is, if Charlie Brown did get Halloween candy, a Valentine, and an Easter egg (on Halloween, Valentine's Day, and Easter --seen in the videos IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN CHARLIE BROWN, BE MY VALENTINE CHARLIE BROWN, and IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE CHARLIE BROWN).
So Snoopy hid two eggs. Charlie Brown was supposed to get an empty basket. But he could have narrowly avoided getting no Easter eggs by taking one of the two "untaken eggs" that the Easter Beagle hid. I would have done that if I were in Charlie Brown's position. But that would not have worked anyway. The Easter Beagle (A.K.A Snoopy) and the rest of the kids all would have found out that Charlie Brown cheated.
Charlie Brown narrowly avoided getting no eggs by (unsuccessfully) trying to take one of the Easter Beagle's "untouched" eggs. Then he cheered that he got one at last. And the other kids found out that he was cheating. So when the kids (Sally, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder, Peppermint Patty, and Marcie) told the teacher the next day, this is what happened. They told the teacher, followed by the teacher who told the principal, AND followed by the principal who called in (and told) Charlie Brown and Sally's parents and suspended Charlie Brown for cheating (a one-day long term suspension).
As a result, despite an ALTERNATE ENDING, Charlie Brown got an Easter egg (by taking an ungiven Easter egg). But his crazy plan to be sure he did not lose it failed. And he was suspended from school (one day of long term suspension for cheating) as a result of this.
So in addition to taking fifth grade twice, summer school, and being in after school detention for the first week of September, and being grounded for the whole summer, Charlie Brown (according to the teacher and principal) was forced to write a genuine apology to the Easter beagle. (In fact, he was forced to write 6 or 7 apologies. The first and initial apology was to the Easter beagle, the second apology was to Sally, the third one was to Linus, the fourth was to Lucy, the fifth was to Schroeder, the sixth was to Peppermint Patty, and the seventh and final was to Marcie.) Six or seven apologies and not just an apology to the Easter Beagle! And on top of all that, he (when he grew up) had a hard time finding a job. That is, for cheating on Easter. (There is in fact no cheating at not only school but no cheating ANYWHERE. If I was in Charlie Brown's position and I was still in school AND I performed something like that, I'd get more than just a one-day long term suspension. Because in addition to repeating fifth grade, taking summer school, being in after school detention for the first week of September, and being grounded for the rest of the summer, I would be forced to write a genuine apology to the Easter beagle. And on top of all that, I would have a hard time finding a job when I grow up.)
But regardless of status, I love making ALTERNATE ENDINGS to stories. That is, even if they still backfire.
