I think anyone in their right mind feels this way: If you choose to do so of your own volition, awesome! I admire your dedication to Islam. If someone forces you by penalty of abuse, imprisonment, or worse, I will condemn that forever.
The problem is that you guys have these spokespeople--people I'm sure you all didn't sit and elect, of course--but they declared themselves the spokespeople of the subject, and actually scream and condemn women who advocate for women to be free to choose how they dress. Like what's-her-face, the one who headed the Women's March, telling a woman who was a victim of female genital mutilation and who speaks to the UN about the travesties in Middle Eastern dictatorships against women and forced dress codes, that she wasn't 'worthy of her vagina'. It sparks discourse.
I think it's great if a girl or woman chooses hijab or wearing a burka. That the men in her life don't ask her to, that the matriarchal figures don't say she needs to. That she picks it for herself because of her faith.
For the record, I feel this way about Christian sects that demand women into a dresscode as well. If you want to be modest or a thot, great. If you're forced to be modest or a thot, not great.

Hijab does have a religious aspect to it, it is something women are required to wear. However, we cannot take away a woman's choice to wear or not wear, that is up to her and her personal relationship and ideals of her religion. Somehow, extremism and masculinity (to an extent) has started to rule over hijab too and that causes misleading ideas and information. Rather than respecting the woman's personal choice, she may be forced to wear it, forced to take it off, hated on for her choices, etc. when really we need to support EVERY woman despite her choice. I wear hijab, and my choice to wear it is mine alone. Of course I wish the misconception behind why we wear hijab could be clearer, like I said, it is a requirement (fardh) of our religion, but again we CANNOT and SHOULD NOT force the hijab on all us women if we choose not to wear it.

Someone once told me it's like how nuns wear Habits. Not every catholic is called to be a nun and dress that way, even though their religion promotes doing so. In the same way, not every Muslim feels they need to wear Hijab and they are no less devout or less Muslim because of it!

    • @wintersushi8189
      @wintersushi8189 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I just don't get why is it a requirement and what's the purpose of it.

    • @alihazaidi7657
      @alihazaidi7657 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

@@catbuster101 to an extent yes. Like nuns wear habits, hijab is like that. I’m not sure if nuns wear habits for the purpose of modesty? Like since they are devoted to god they cover up as well to keep their modesty and safety from wandering eyes? Idk if that’s the purpose, but for hijab, the main goal is modesty. It’s a veil for our beauty, per say, because we should have the right to show it to only those we want (blood relations are different because that’s family) but I mean in the sense of showing possibly the person a hijabi will marry and their family.
The difference is that while only nuns have to wear habits, hijab is something every woman of Islam is supposed to wear. HOWEVER, this is where choice comes in because like we all agree here, we shouldn’t force it on the woman. Her relationship with hijab and her religion is her personal journey. Who knows, maybe she’s so much more religious than the other lady that is wearing hijab and then it all becomes moot point right?
So basically hijab IS required. But we cannot and should not and most people do not force women to wear hijab.

No, it's not "something women are required to wear". There are many Islamic places where women are not required to cover their heads, including Iran a few decades ago, and the place where I was born and raised, Dagestan, with almost 90% of Sunny Muslims. When I was growing up there, nobody covered their heads at all. Now religious extremists have been usurping the power and it translated to a portion of the female population covering themselves. The religion stayed the same. The leaders changed from reasonable to fanatical, and they always strip women of their rights.
It's not religious, it's cultural. Even though ultra-religious people always say it's religious. The same with Orthodox Christians and Orthodox Jews - the women must cover their hair - while regular Christians and Jews don't do that and can still be religious.
By the way, anyone, not just women, should be able not only to choose what to wear but also whether to be religious or not. In fanatical Islamic cultures, people die if they dare to make a different choice. Not in Christian or Jewish or Buddhist religions, only Muslim.
That's the real reason behind banning hijabs in Europe - Islam doesn't have a good reputation as it tends to be aggressive and cruel compared to Christianity which locals are used to. Immigrants ask to be let in, then march around in their hosts' cities demanding sharia law. They disrespect local women, treating them as prostitutes because they are not covered according to the immigrants' customs. Even though it's not everyone but it's enough to create a bad image of an aggressive, demanding attitude that disrespects others. Because they are not presenting themselves as individuals, they are speaking as proponents of Islam. It's because of that image they created that locals dislike the religion and ban religious wear.

Whether the hijab is forced or not, it has never been about religion and always about politics. In France, the hijab is banned in my scenarios due to racism and islamophobia prompted by many political factors. In Iran, it is enforced due to the current political regime, when just 50 years ago, the hijab was banned.
When the hijab is banned, the people wear it more. When it is forced, the people take it off. It’s not about the hijab or religion- it’s about women having the freedom to chose how they live their own lives.

How did Islam preserve the status of women?
God Almighty honored the Muslim woman in the eyes of the people, raised her worth, and recommended that she be well treated, regardless of her lineage, beauty, money, or anything else. By honoring and treating her well, and ordering them to spend on her.
What did Islam do to women?
Islam honored the woman, and gave her rights that she lacked before Islam, and it also granted her rights that other religions did not grant her. Their upbringing is a great reward, which is Paradise.
Is it permissible for women to rule in Islam?
Abd al-Ghani Mahmoud, a professor at the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Azhar University, explains that Islam does not prevent a woman from assuming any position in the state, even if it is the general presidency, as long as she is qualified for that.

While what was done to the girl is horrific and unjustifiable, we have to realise every region has its own norms, cultural and religious values around what is considered acceptable/decent clothing or not. Even between Korea and the US the clothing is different and violating those norms and exposing more than society can accept will lead to issues and problems for the perpetrator. As Koreans this should be pretty straightforward and understandable for you.
So in Iran this issue is being blown out of proportion not because of the rules itself, but a combination of a lot of injustices and problems in the country for over 40 years that the government has committed. This is just the straw that broke the camels back so to say. The media is just focusing on hijab due to its bias against Muslims, but in reality the issues are much more than that and these protests and public frustration and outburst have been long in the making.
But if you watch the media they would have you be convinced that hijab is an issue and Muslim women are against it, which is just not true. The vast majority of Muslim women respect the hijab and believe in it as a religious and cultural value and they want to keep it, including the ones in Iran. Don’t let a few liberals and secularists in Iran’s urban centres mislead you.

hijab is a religious obligation for woman, it shows their faith and modesty. however it is also a choice since your faith and your relationship with allah is between you and allah only. the wrong thing here is they are forcing women to wear the hijab and oppressing them in the name of islam which is not what islam is about. our religion respects woman more than any religion. the only thing that infuriated me was when they burned their hijab. as a hijabi muslim. the hijab is important to me and allah so they should not have burned it.

I’m a Muslim and I feel more comfortable with hijab while my sister feels more comfortable without it. I feel though Islam says a woman should cover her hair, it gives no one the right to force someone to wear it and the hijab doesn’t make a person more religious than someone who doesn’t. I’ve seen girls who were the hijab that aren’t even as religious as the girls I’ve seen that don’t wear it. And if it’s about preventing men from temptation, they should worry more on the men and not the women, like it’s not our fault some men have no respect for women, why should women be the one to get punish for a man’s bad behavior and it makes me sick that they are actually women who defend men on topics like this. I asked my aunt once, you always say if a girl doesn’t wear hijab and a guy attacks her it’s her fault, so what if it’s your daughter? Will it be her fault and she didn’t respond, lol it was the first time we argued about something that she couldn’t say anything. So I said it’s easy to blame girls when it’s not your own child right?

BUT It's very important for us to always acknowledge injustice and remember that no culture or religion is all good or all bad. What has happened and is happening in Iran is horrific. A disgusting degradation of human rights. I barely comment on any video, but I would like to share my opinion. I believe as a Muslim and a Hijabi, that I want to comment on few things. Hijab in terms of Islam is definitely meant to protect women from the eyes of others, in other words it is meant to protect what is beautiful and precious, the topic is really deep and has a lot into it, I would definitely recommend reading more about hijab. Another thing would be it is true that hijab is a choice, in Islam, as a Muslim when I reach an age or certain time I'm obliged and have to wear the hijab as Allah has asked us to when the time comes, but when I make the choice to wear it I should be making that choice as it is something that I should fulfill to be more near to the ideal Muslim girl(But that doesn't mean that I'm fully a perfect Muslim, there is a lot to be done to be a great Muslim and wearing hijab is one of the things we need to do) yet if I do not wear it this is something between me and Allah and no one has the right to force me to wear it (People can advise and help you wear it properly and all nicely) Forcing would be too much even though we are obliged to; but this goes back to the family responsibility on teaching their kids about hijab and making them understand why we wear hijab); that's why mostly in different situation whenever any Muslim sees another Muslim girl not wearing hijab when she has to, we pray that Allah gives her hidayah (which means may Allah guide her) we don't force or insult, this isn't what Islam is. I have a lot to say regarding what I wrote above; there is a lot of beauty behind why Muslims are supposed to wear hijab, it is because of certain people who has the concept and mindset of forcing to wear a hijab, that is creating hatred within many. Last comment which I wanted to comment about the video would be the reaction to the video of burning the hijab, it might be the idea behind the protest and I understand it is meant to show that you can't force us to do so (which I understand from their point of view) but it really hurts me to see things like that happen in terms of something that I wear as a Muslim, and again this wouldn't have happen if countries like that forced their people to wear hijab, especially that this is a religion related matter also. In the end I would like to say it is sadly that we in this modernized century are facing issues like that; when we should learn from the past mistakes. As seen there is always two sides to the hijab, and I would love to only see the good and positive side of it (the one that Allah has guided us to do and wear), and the best representation with no one getting hurt (as no one was supposed to be hurt in any way). Another thing if I seem to have said something wrong regarding like rules or stuff in terms of Islam and being Muslim, do let me know I'll do more research and correct myself. I have shared my opinion in terms of what I was raised to be as a Muslim. (I'm not perfect Muslim but I'll try to 🥰☺)

hmmm .. I just want to comment on the stereotype and wrong information you stated in this video. Hijab is a mandatory rule by God in Islam. Not a cultural thing or Arab thing. Islam is not a culture but a RELIGION. It's a mandatory rule by God but as Aliha Zaidi stated in the 2nd top comment:
_"Hijab does have a religious aspect to it, it is something women are required to wear. Of course I wish the misconception behind why we wear hijab could be clearer, like I said, it is a requirement (fardh) of our religion, but again we CANNOT and SHOULD NOT force the hijab on all us women if we choose not to wear it.?_
Hijab is not only worn by Arab to protect themselves from the sun. That's so a wrong statement. There are 2 billion Muslims in the world and not all Muslims from Arab and not all Arab are Muslims. I'm a korean living in New York right now and I'm a muslim. As a Muslim woman, I will say that our religion required us to wear it, but is a choice of the woman as to WHEN to wear it. Nowhere in any of our texts does it say this.
As for my personal opinion, if a government enforces the hijab, it is wrong. No one will truly see the beauty of the hijab and the process it takes for a woman to wear it proudly. It would lose its meaning; rather than a part of our identity that gives a part of meaning to our lives, it's something that is used against us that would make us fear it even more.

The hijab is a commandment from God and it is for every Muslim woman to wear( nationality and ethnicity do not matter, it’s not like it is for the Middle Eastern women or smth it is for every muslim). In islam you cannot force anyone to practice the religion, because it has primarily to do with the intention an individual. In fact for many things in Islam you have to set your intention, that you are doing it just for Allah, as he is our creator( intention comes from the heart). So from an Islamic, religion pov you cannot force sm to wear or not wear the hijab. In France for example you cannot wear the hijab and this is also a restriction of women choice. In France you cannot work, or go to school, uni with a hijab, therefore education and a normal lifestyle are only for a group of people.

Hijab make us(women) distinctive among others(non-muslim). At the beginning of islam, non Muslim used to harass or try to do bad things like touch and call names of Muslim women in the Streets and Muslims women were included too. When they were asked about the reason they would say that If we knew she was Muslim we wouldn't have done it. So Allah(SWT) told us through his prophet to ask their women to do hijab so they can be distinguished as Muslims and those bad men would have no reason to disrespect them. This information you can get from surah_al_ahzab in quran And surah-al-noor.
If someone's wearing hijab that means she is a Muslim woman and it makes them respect the boundaries. I hope everyone can respect the boundary set by Allah SWT.

@평생 소원이 누룽지 Hijab (headscarf) is a religious piece of clothing that some Muslim women choose to wear. It's not because of the desert because there's a billion Muslims and most of them don't live in a desert. There is a form of hijab for men too. As men and women are different, the hijab which is basically "modesty" is also different for both sexes. The same way that a man can walk around shirtless in the west but a woman can't walk around topless. Muslim men also have regulations on what they can and can't wear but again this is all a personal choice the same for women. Cultures and religions around the world all have different standards and traditions for modesty. Countries like Iran where women are being killed for not wearing the hijab & Afghanistan where the Taliban don't even allow women & girls to go to school are examples of totalitarian regimes. They are full of MEN who want to control and abuse WOMEN. The same problem we can see with states in America banning abortions for women and discrimination against women that is widespread in South Korea. On a global scale women are fighting for FREEDOM to live as they please from abusive men. Whether they choose to wear a hiab or not, or decide to get an abortion or not the important thing is WOMENS RIGHT TO CHOOSE.

Well unfortunately sometimes we have extremists. Though hijab is compulsary for a muslim women but killing someone for it is not allowed in Islam. However guiding those who don't wear hijab is also one of our duties. The hijab is considered a crown for a Muslim women with it we r special and without it we are ordinary.

Hey, guys love your channel and I enjoy your content a lot. I appreciate you taking the time to try to address a problem that is very controversial and many people would choose to ignore it in the first place. However, I wished you would know that the Iran official who calls themselves an Islamic group are actually far away from that religion itself since you don't know the tremendous damage they inflict on Muslims in the middle east and a major part of the ruin that has happened in the middle east countries and how they spread isis.
They are not representing Islam and whoever uses them to attack Islam is ignorant of the fact that they are themselves a cult with terrorist ideas and what they did to Mahsa is very much against that religion's first rule in forcing anyone to do anything they don't want or desire.
Just wanted to clarify anyway, I am a Muslim and I find myself way stronger and free than many other foreign I met on a daily basis, so no, Islam doesn't make you weak or oppressed or sad and if anyone claimed that anything of these happened because of Islam I think they are mistaken and they really need to learn what is the source of their problem.
Overall, thank you for your video, and stay awesome. I will always keep watching your channel and supporting you guys, peace be upon all of you ❤❤

Islam never forces to wear hijab. It’s one choice & believe. Without iran there are no country to force for wearing hijab. We wear hijab because It's our rights

You are WRONG about it being a "choice". This happened September 21, 2022. Less than a month ago. Her name WAS Masha Amini. "Amini was arrested for allegedly breaking hijab rules
Amini, 22, died on Friday in northern Tehran. She had been arrested on Tuesday and reportedly was taken to a hospital shortly afterward. Amini suffered multiple blows to the head before she died, according to London-based broadcaster Iran International.

in almost all of your video descriptions, Donghyun's instagram link is incorrect! it would be really nice if you could update them! you have the link written as "intaRgram" and not "instagram". i've noticed this in about 6 different videos, so i think it might be all of them. love your videos and just wanted to let you guys know so you could make the change!

People should know that, Iran is not considered a Muslim country. Thats is why they are quite away and quite extreme at some point.

It's up to the young people to protest and make progressive changes, we did in the states in the 60's. Letting old men that believe in silly religion stay in power for many years is a big mistake. Eg. Russia and Iran. OSSC thanks for this video I hope it goes world wide.

I am Muslim, and in Islam you are NOT allowed to force the hijab onto women. The choice is between her and God, no one else is allowed to step in. Taking that choice away is a way to oppress women.

People need to know what both men and women have hijab to wear. Also hijab is more than covering. The video is really stupid because there is no Muslim there to explain. Also what’s with the protest video. 🤨 why don’t you show Muslim women forced to remove their hijab in France, India
