Hugo was a tv show were kids could call in, and a lucky kids would be chosen to play the game by pressing the numbers on the phone, while it was showen in the show on the tv. There was a reward for finishing the level.
I remember watching this episode when it came out, and predicting that Hugo would be onna those character that stared at the player as he walked. "How am I doing Ben? Ben, how's this?!" Instant classic.
You should know that Hugo the Troll is more popular in Europe not Japan. He started in Denmark as a tv game idea, where kids called into a show and played games controlling hugo around using a telephone, completing scenarios in order to win prizes. It was popular in Germany, Ireland and other european nations. The whole premise was that popular that sequels and spin off games were made.
i got this game for christmas in 97. i loved it as a kid, replayed it recently after hearing all the hate it gets and i couldn't play past the first level it was too painful
Hugo awesome! They featured this game on a Swedish kids show in the late 90s. Basically kids called in and if they got on they would play this game using the buttons on their phones. They were a bunch of games made for being played on TV. I thought it was so cool when I was a kid.
Terranigma, a action rpg done by Square for the snes would be a great game for Reported. Also love Reported, definitely looking forward to future episodes of it.
hugo was a character of an irish tv program, it was terrible because it was spoken in ''As Gaeilge'' thats the ''irish language'' to you americans, and most people in ireland don't speak or understand it
Hugo wasnt part of a childrens show - was first seen in Eleva2eren (a talk show kind of program on Danish Tv2) where you played it by phone. One of those characters that started with only Hugo and then when becoming "popular" suddenly evolves to different areas but same concept and then later have a family. To add a comment - the people doing the report seriously need to find out more about the games they report about or fit the stereotypical american...
Great games on the Saturn include: Sonic Jam, Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragoon series, NiGHTS, Virtual On: Cybertroopers, Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Cop, Fighting Vipers, Earthworm Jim 2, Clockwork Knight, Bug!, Daytona USA, Sega Rally Championship, Tomb Raider, Gex, and many more! Tomb Raider also looks nicer on the Saturn than the PS1.
It was also on Spanish TV in the US, I guess aimed more at adults. Same premise, they just called him Tino. Probably never caught on English TV because there was Throut and Neck, which was similar, though sassier.
Whoa whoa whoa - Buying a Saturn is NOT a bad decision. Many great games were released on the Saturn - Most of them were obscure, but great games nonetheless. Saturn has a great game library - especially in Japan. Playing imports on your Saturn is as easy as plugging in an Action Replay cart and inserting your favorite NTSC-J or PAL game into the console and turning on the power.
Hugo had mostly books done about him... I don't even know how I managed to grow up with him because yeah don't think he was on TV at all. He just sort of existed and everyone knew about him. I had this Hugo game and another one growing up, I remember them fondly. The english voice acting is hot garbage though.

Far better than the previous episode. Good stuff.
In Poland Hugo games were played over the phone on TV, I guess that's what TV mode is supposed to be.
The best era

Well, now we know the origins of QTE in gaming - it was a freakin' Hugo! ХД

That was the best thing ever.

the original bugsy is more linda sonic the hedgehog ripoff than dkc or ewj, right?
if you guys get these comments, you should replay Mort The Chicken for PS1, im sure youll LOVE it
when we got an original PS we had two games originally. Die Hard Trilogy and Bubsy 3D. GUESS which game I absolutely hated?
Hugo was also shown in Israeli TV in the mid-90's.
Hugo shouldn't be compared to that abomination. It's a game for small children with simple commands and a nice challenge.
This game is balls, The End
believe this or not but the Developers of this game worked on Uncharted golden abyss
lmao dude 19:20 dat awful troll talking with british accent xD

Slow hands Ben Reeves should fight bizarre detective Ben Reeves

Hugo was on TV in 43 countries...

I came here for Hugo. God, what's wrong with his english voice? It's horrible. Why does it have a weird echo in it?
better than english dub
