I remember I had a buckley streak for 4-5 years. started with grace, a suggestion i got from a date in 2015. I didn't have an idea of who Buckley was, or Elliot Smith or Radiohead at the time (I followed alternative metal as a highschooler. I was a freshman in college in 2015, and here I was listening to this vocal masterpiece. I genuinely listened to Grace the first time with the candlelight idea in my mind that this dude had countless albums under his belt already since I was listening to his debut album from 1994. Finding out he passed away, in an accident, makes everything seem cruel. Afterwards I exclusively listened to buckley practically everyday from 2015-2020. , from his published albums (including posthumous releases) and the countless concerts, to his rarer songs you can only find on TH-cam or in other less prominent sites. This guy is a true master of his craft. the craft of making soulful experiences in music. I cant count how many times ive tried to match his vocal ranges in his songs, his vocal control over how soft or hard he lets his voice sound, this dude was just nuts. I dont mean to praise excessively, but he just did what he wanted to do, because he felt like it was normal to him. but what he did was not something a normal person can do or could have done. his vocal control is beyond comprehension, and was chiefly the results of his natural capabilities. Anyways, this song was probably one of the last two songs I listened to exclusively during the pandemic, though I cannot remember the titles of both songs, they were indeed songs by him. One was called Peace Offering by him, and this song was the other one. Both songs made me feel the fullest of his ability to process anguish and pain into vocal and rhythmic composition. I wish I could go back to when I first listened to jeff. I'm always amazed by the depth of his creativity.
The words come from here, From memories, from dreams, from people I’ve known. I’m always writing and reflecting on life. I want to suck it all in. - Jeff Buckley ♥
Lyrics Take the pain until it all rings hollow We learn to loathe the truth as it shines I already see a ghost on the sidewalk Kissing in the hereafter And your hands are in your pockets as you face her And your bodies both frozen by the door Only one knows they're watching you die They're there from hereafter Young life crushes each young love If anything, life is for somebody else You can hardly live it for yourself And the man you love just doesn't Know who, just what he's after Chances are you wouldn't even Recognize the man I am now Chances are you wouldn't even Recognize the man I am now Chances are you wouldn't even Recognize the man I am now He'll make up any excuse To wear the reins you can't control The knife wanders through me so slow It cuts between us as we grow Ooooh
My ears pick up "only one knows they're watching it die" "the other from hereafter" "You've learned to think love is for somebody else" "(You?) Make it hard to live it for yourself" The line that gives me the most ??? Is the make up any excuse line. To wear the reins? To reveries? To enemies?
These are the lyrics I hear… “ Take the pain until it all rings hollow We learn to loathe the truth as it shines I already see the ghosts on the sidewalk Kissing in the hereafter… And your hands are in your pockets as you face 'em And your bodies both frozen by the dawn… Only one knows they're watching it die They're there from hereafter… Young life crosses young love You've learned to think life is for somebody else You make it hard to live it for yourself And the man you love just doesn't know just what he's after… Chances are, you wouldn't even recognize the man I am now Chances are, you wouldn't even recognize the man I am now Yeah, chances are, you wouldn't even recognize the man I am now… Yeah, make up any excuse to remedy/remedies you can't control… The knife wanders through me so slow It cuts between us as we grow… Hmm Mmm… “ ❤Such a beautiful song and amazing, just as all of Jeff’s music is! He truly was so talented and such a special person with a loving soul.If only he could still be here making his ‘sound art’ as he called it. He really was a genius! I listen to him daily, his songs and voice never get old to me as other artists do. I really wish I could of seen him perform live… 💜rest in heaven peacefully Jeff🙏🏻 you shine so brightly and will forever live on through all your music, that myself and many others are so thankful for… 🙏🏻🎵🤍🎸🎤🌹🕊️❤️🙏🏻 Love you Jeff!!💖
wonder how much time people here spent looking for Jeff songs before coming to this video ... not the deepweb but deeptube i think just wonderful song and restore
Thank you. I really appreciate that. I have a great interest in a wide range of musical genres. But Jeff's music is the only that has ever felt other-worldly to me.
@Catrin Latino @The Indie Diary That would be awesome! You&I (Guitar version) is indeed a GUITAR version, lyrics are almost undecipherable, and the ones that's been around for as long as Jeff was off this Earth (I guess) make no posssible sense lol. Is there a way to smooth the edges of that one? :-)
I actually really like your restoration job on this. I have the original recording, but you made it sound very different in a good way. Could you put it somewhere for me to download?
Yes, trying to sort it out for a dropbox download. Never done this before. Bare with me, should have it up within the hour of this message being sent. Also, thank you very much. This song is beautiful and I tried my best to get rid of the worst hiss noises and I know Jeff loved reverb very much when just playing electric guitar alone. So I went for a lot of that. Glad so many people have enjoyed it so far.
I cannot remember. I have so many Jeff recordings. The original of this isn't in the best condition. So I gave it a lot of reverb and tried to make it sound like he was playing in a very large grand room. Adds to the atmosphere of this song I think. His voice is like no other's past or present. I'm always drawn back to Jeff throughout my life.
Thank you, I had it. I found it in my mac. It's from Rarities in New York and the title is "The Man I Am Now" (Untitled). So you can change the title. I love it.

This track is very choppy and has some nasty artifacts in it. I tried to clear it up as best I could, while adding reverb helped as well with hiding a lot of it. As well as giving it a more live sound to it. This is a very haunting track as well which I found the reverb only added in quality to this. Also Jeff loved reverb as well. ;)

Immortal Buckley. Miss you. Always here. Huge Artist. One of the kind. Authentic.
This is Jeff at his saddest. It tears me up inside.
Really good job with that reverb. I love it.
Also known as Sky Blue Skin, it's finally been officially released as of 2019!

Take the pain until it all rings hollow
We learn to loathe the truth as it shines
I already see a ghost on the sidewalk
Kissing in the hereafter
And your hands are in your pockets as you face her
And your bodies both frozen by the door
Only one knows they're watching you die
They're there from hereafter
Young life crushes each young love
If anything, life is for somebody else
You can hardly live it for yourself
And the man you love just doesn't
Know who, just what he's after
Chances are you wouldn't even
Recognize the man I am now
Chances are you wouldn't even
Recognize the man I am now
Chances are you wouldn't even
Recognize the man I am now
He'll make up any excuse
To wear the reins you can't control

This reverb sounds like from the bottom of a deep river 😭
Makes me want to take a nap and never get up.

Very nice.
涙が出てくる。ジェフ・バックリーは天才。
You should try to restore “you and I (guitar version)”
And maybe “Dido’s lament”, you make them sound so much better
@Catrin Latino @The Indie Diary That would be awesome! Amazing job!❤️🙏🏻❤️
And yes! I’d also LOVE to hear “You and I (guitar version)” restored as you have done here with this song.
Thank you!
Estoy llorando. Es el ser más hermoso que alguna vez existió 💚 lo adoro. Es todo 💚
Good work
Спасибо ✌
I actually really like your restoration job on this. I have the original recording, but you made it sound very different in a good way. Could you put it somewhere for me to download?

Never add anything to any Jeff Buckley song in any way :/ you're not Jeff Buckley.
he's restored it for you, it's probably much better than it was
Froli Lapume for me? Lol
Thank you!
