I'm 19, and I played this whole entire piece of 4 movements for my LTCL exam that took about 25 minutes. And I liked the way he added an occasional thrill to the song by himself :) OMG HIS CADENZA!! ITS JUST.... divine!
I'm learning this right now. Whether I can play it as well is out of the question. Such precision in skill and fantastic display in emotion! Haydn was a genius of composing and Shaham was a blessed violinist. This is one of the best recordings of this Concerto in the technical aspects and emotional aspects. Bravo!
*Sigh* Just found out I have to learn this so I went to listen to it with my music in front of me, *sigh, deeply* this is hard. Beautiful and amazingly played here but, hard.
When art like this is played well, it puts a picture in ur mind, and you may relive the song as that picture when it happens or as a memory of your picture from ur mind. And, if we are reliving the song or the picture is always still to be determined!

Well Gil Shaham always has that swaggy stance when he plays! I don't think there's a problem with the way hes positioned, he is one of the great violinists of this generation! I do understand what you mean by the orchestra though, when i play i personally sit on the outer half inch of my chair xD But really its nothing to get too upset about, the music is fantastic, just minimize the video if its that irritating to watch.
He doesn't play according to the music at many parts. He separates many slurred notes, along with trilling some notes that aren't trills in the original music.
who gives a damn? not one good performer that I've found on YT pays exactly what's on the page. that's what makes them good performer they've done the research and made their own interpretation if the piece.
@TheCaptainKanada I really don't get it. How is this disrespectful? The way he stands is fine. And the orchestra is using the backs of their chairs, but they're involved with the performance. You don't see one not playing earnestly.
Why do you bother mentioning that you don't intend copyright infringement? You are clearly aware that you are committing it. I'm really enjoying this video, but think that your disclaimer is very silly.
The way you did not capitalize your sentence OR put punctuation on the end is so unbelievably disrespectful. You have no idea! I can't even avoid pressing thumbs down! :-D

*is a blessed violinist…
Not dead🤘🏻
This concerto is fiendishly difficult for a classical era concerto. It also has lots of double stops and having one note out of tune becomes obvious.
What you described sounds like every classical era concerto I've ever heard, especially Haydn.
Yes it’s more difficult then Mozart concerto no.3 in g major
Very beautifully played... the articulation and clean bowing... so nice to hear.
Beautiful ! Thank you for posting :)

@Garpinator I believe it's a harpsichord :)

Did you mean the 'tutti' part?
Is this an HIP? That looks very much like a fortepiano or a harpsichord to Shaham's left.
와 잘한다
난 처음 화음부분도 않되는데

Someone have the violin sheet Edition Peters from this concert? please?'??
