We are finally off! After 3 weeks of van build we are ready to hit the road to Italy. We head to France, Belgium and Germany and give you a van tour to show you how the build ended up!

You have found the dangers of stopping anywhere near Calais in anything that looks like a commercial vehicle. Be very wary on the way back.

Being a more function over form kind of guy I say stop 'explaining' the state of your van. It has amazing functionality and the work you've done has made it quite homey, to my eyes. You should be proud.
Does Alan not travel well in a vehicle, or is it just a question of not needing the distraction of looking after her? I'm sure she's having a fine time on the boat with Dave, maybe they should start their own Dave & Alan channel. My experience with many cats over the decades has shown me that cats like being in a familiar place, like the boat she's been on for years.

If someone tried to break in when you got to France, you'll need to be very careful coming home, or you might find you've got illegal stowaways in the back.
How many vans have you had before, Emily? No wonder you are at home driving one. Yes. You've made an excellent job of the conversion in such a short time. The best thing about those top cupboards and drawers is that they are lockable. That pull out table looks as if it needs some support on the outer end, but great job all round.
Loved seeing your packing for the trip😂 pile em high …After breaking attempt might be worth having the escape route opened up into the front cab area you obviously got your tool kit with you🤣😂
Bon viaggio. We had deadlocks on all the doors of our camper van which really makes it hard for anyone to get in. Fuel is cheap in Luxembourg so always fill up there and get a Starling card great for travelling in Europe,

Be glad you got out of France its a dump these days, your now the second channel I've seen go over there in the past few days and had issues not long after, A fishing channel I watch was stalked and had three guys hanging around him for hours... You get there and had a attempt at a break in
You’ve worked wonders in the time you had😁. I love colour of the cupboards particularly green❤️. Other than the area around Calais vans are safe and welcome. Not knowing where to park overnight is more than often a joy and surprise with stunning views. Look forward to your next snippet of adventures

A quick top tip for you don't listen to bull poo. Red oxide always then any colour undercoat then your final coat. Don't use all this and that. I was offered job as paint foreman. Years ago with transocean. I declined as I worked full time on ship. Take care both and all my love to Allan she is so much like my 1st cat tiddles.xx

Please check if that green hose is safe for drinking water, in the usa we must use white hoses for drinking water, the green tastes like tires smell :)

Looking good and enjoy the trip.
One of the drawbacks with a right hand drive and toll tickets is that the ticket is dispensed on left hand side of your van.so the passenger has to pick it from the machine. As soon as the ticket is dispensed the barrier rises.
Just a further point what I found was helpful- as most people in Europe do speak english- greet them in their language then ask in their language if they speak english rather than straight in with ‘do you speak english’, I have always found it helpful and gets you off to a good start.
I even do this in Wales but leave out the ‘do you speak english’ bit.
David from Cruising The Cut also seemed to lose interest in narrowboating - he sold up and moved back into a house after a few years on the cut. It seems that people do about 2 - 3 years of narrowboating and then move on. Would you say that it's a case, for you, of having been up and down the same stretches of canal and it's now "been there, seen it, done it", and needing something different?

A great start to the trip .. you were making me salivate with the lovely French treats.
Good job on the speedy conversion! Belgium is so interesting. Beer Notes - usually, dark beers get sweeter with strength,, but weirdly Blond beers don't seem to follow this pattern and 9% blonds can be very dry/bitter. Note - Carlsberg Special Brew used to be 9% but is now only 7% and VERY expensive at 10 quid for 4 medium cans - I suspect government pressure to limit our fun which is exactly what Brexit is designed to do. Always check your security. Onward!

I’m a furniture artist in Australia
If you use chalk paint it will adhere to anything just make sure you seal it to protect it but it definitely won’t budge once you e painted with it.
Maybe give it a go over the painted areas

So many perks of converting the ambulance opposed to a Sprinter or similar. Nevertheless I feel not most could undergo such a feat in such a short space in time. Especially softening it in the way that you have. Be proud. ❤ x

Pour your Belgian beer slowly in one go as it has yeast in the bottom. Leave the yeast in the bottle if you want to drink clear beer. The yeast however, will keep you 'regular'! Leffe is now owned by Interbrew sadly ...

Have you rubbed a candle on that would yet to make it slide in and out it will make it so easy and there's no mess all you need is an old candle I'm just rabbits on the underside of the wood where it rubs on the other would and you can do it on drawers as well it works wonderfully Andrew van looks great
A Scottish woman I'm registered with said in her latest video that she changed her plans and left France because she was attacked twice during her short stay in France.🚐 Anyway, the interior of the former ambulance you guys created in a short period of time has a very cozy atmosphere, which is wonderful!🚑✨

28:37 Glass exhaust wrap for car exhausts, will ensure no-one ever burns themselves, if they accidently bump into the stove pipe. It'll still radiate heat, while protecting you from a burn on the elbow. It comes in black, or gold, usually.❤ ...There are also more expensive options. Because of a comment on my idea, maybe some even better home-made idea would be smart? Exhaust wrap, with a shiney stainless steel jacket? 😁😉
