Hey man, I'm sorry that's just not the way it works, that's all. I own 2 '57 models myself, so I can't let you claim on that. Anybody that sees the dash and owns an oval knows in a second. They start making the next year's model months before the beginning of the year so there ready for purchase. A 58 is a great year to have, you should be proud to own it. Drive on brother.
+Mark Rice, Hello Mark. this engine freshly rebuild by high quality parts. So its a stock 30 horsepower engine. All the tune up is done for 100%. The ignition timing is 10 degrees en the distributor is rebuild to new. The great point is the carburator, i got idle jet 145 with 4 spray holes. It came of a 34pict 4 carburator. And the main jet is also one of the highest possible. the car runs verry good and its still economic! 6liter at 100 km. Its verry impressive what you can reach with your carburator jettings!
You both right guys... German production was setting new models/upgrades/changes on the production factory during August, when employees where mostly on holiday and production was low (easier to change machines..) so every model after August is referring the year after.. The official 57 which has different dash, was produced till July 57 - after sept '57 the new beetle ('58-61) was on production line.. - I had a '63 but dated October, so a '64 model.. Enjoy your Gem guys!!!! :-)
I had a 63 (model64) but I sold it.. its in a car museum now, the best place where those car will last forever.. I was moving to London so I decided for that. However I miss that and I go to see another one next 3 weeks. 1 owner (old lady now 92, 68000Km (certified by VW).. looks a unique gem.. is a '66, one of the last before the 12V upgrade.. I keep you posted :-) Enjoy yours, its one of the best year/color..
In Mexico, the last model in celebration of the farewell to the Beetle was made in a limited edition in which the ignition of the 4 spark plugs already had electronic distribution, radio with CD and factory air conditioning and the model was the 2003 Beetle.
Maybe you can find a factory radio for it. Many, if not most, had a radio by 1958. Some even had a gas gauge, which became standard equipment in, I think, 1962.
what country is that looks like right hand driving and european style lanes. buildings look like 17 ro 1800s car was imported from Sweeden. Also are you going to keep it gas. so many people are converting to electric mainly because of governments requirements. OMG I hope you can keep it running on liquid fuel. even if it is Alcohol.
Hello Mike, i live in Belgium the main country of europe. Fuel over here is very expencive and they recently converted all gas stations to sell bio ethanol gas. But regular gas is still sold in the most country stations with a high price. Our gouverment promoted diesel cars for the last 25 years but that changed last year. They raised the diesel prices a lot and diesel drivers must pay big taxes now. People are mad and people having protest sundays with fights and people dying. Theres a small warr going on here. The same in france and even worse. Life is to expensive here and we pay over 60% of taxes from our job pay out. But electric conversion is something not seen over here. Its even not allowed. Every car must me completly original with no mods. You cant even put disc brakes on for better safety. I cant even put seatbelts in my 57 bug or extra blinkers. Its a real shithole here...
@@daalhoffarm Wow brother that seems like it really sucks. The alcohol seems like the best bet. I have often thought of using E85 here. but regular is still pretty cheap. I live in CA here and they want to go the way you are, the bastards. @@Mikefngarage Our diesel is mixed with 20% bio diesel. E10 fuel has 20% ethanol, and super gas is still 95% real gas. But really expensive. A bug only drives on that.

Do the 1957 models also have a heater where it’s activated by a lever or a knob in the middle between the seats?
Notice how more and more people think cars always came out on January of the new year? I guess because they are now used to Datsuns and Toyotas.
