    To put this into context, it's like being able to make 3 greatsword attacks and having over 120 feet of movement to get to multiple targets all in a single action. This spell is pretty great.

      Great way of framing it!

      Indeed. The issus is the greatsword handler can be attacking all day while this spell caster will do it a couple of times during that same day.

    My Pact of the Tome Warlock (Fiend) loved this spell. It's always upcast due to how Warlock slots work, and i have so many ways to crit. Plus it works with Hex so if you set it up the previous turn and then get a Haste going from the Wizard, you can go so many attacks in at once between this spell and Eldritch Blast!

    Not exactly an alternate use. But I feel this video could be an extra minute long to also discuss synergies with other spells.
    Scorching ray is also amazing for it's synergistic interaction with other spells like the Hex spell Or the hunters' mark spell
    (This would also be a great moment for you to drop thumbnails on screen for your videos that cover those spells too ;p )
    With each of the 3+ (the + scaling to the level of spell slots) opportunities to proc hex or hunters mark on hit.
    The hexblades class feature: Hexblade's curse - not only interacts well with Scorching ray on it's own, but can also stack with either of the two above mentioned spells. But not both because Hex and Hunter's mark are both concentration spells.
    This was the first spell I cast that made me understand that I needed more DnD Dice. And I'm only level 3.But, with hex, and 3/3 beams landing a hit - I needed6d6 + 3d6 for hex.
    I can now do this quickly and easily at the table by grabbing a fistful of colour coded dice. A blue d20 and 2blue d6s, + 1 blue d6 that uses dots instead of numbers (to indicate which one is hex). And repeat with 2 other colours.

      "if I ever get to play again." Sadest and realest DnD comment :'(
      Scorching Ray is real fun though.

    If you have advantage on the attack do you have it for each of the spell attack rolls?

    • @Ragenarok
      @Ragenarok 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - Each ray can hit or miss independently, thus each ray is treated as a separate attack for the purpose of determining successful hits and misses.
      Likewise, if disadvantage is being applied to the caster for whatever reason, every ray of the spell would have disadvantage too

      @@Ragenarok Does this mean each ray gets its own 2d6 attack roll?

    • @Ragenarok
      @Ragenarok 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kaplie9592 that depends on how long the advantage lasts. Is it until end of turn? Or next attack?
