Wow, so lucky to have three (3!) of those beauties! --- I have a California EV Touring (2002) and, apart from the ride ergonomics, the beautiful sound of those Guzzi V Twin jugs is probably what I love most about my bike ... Cheers from Hessen!
Dude, i bought a lightly used 2003 Cali Stone with just 5,800 miles accumulated over 17 years! An average of under 340 miles per year! Pretty much like new and paid only $2,800 through a private seller who's wife was battling cancer. I was only too happy to pay his asking price. Stainless exhaust like all Moto Guzzi's and only Moto Guzzi as i understand across their entire product line with S.S. LaFranconi mufflers that sound exquisite! The absolute BEST sound of any rumbling Harley like tone. Contrary to popular perception it has at around 75hp. plenty of power and this from the 1100 (1064cc) actual. Not one single issue in the 1,500 miles i have personally put on since purchase. The most sure footed and steady handling bike i have ever owned. Which includes a 1990 Kawi Z1000 around 6-8 years ago. By far the best $2,800 ever spent by me on a motorcycle. I love it even though it is the bargain basement special of the California lineup. With no ABS, linked brakes, cruise, etc. Love the simplicity and really only wish mine had a tach and alloy spoked rims instead of chromed steel rims with traditional spokes. Love Guzzi engineering and reliability. In sound it's like a Harley that went to college in Italy and cured it's stuttering habit. I don't see myself selling this one although a close to even trade on a newer Griso would be quite tempting. I'd really rather sell a couple of my other bikes and have a Griso along with my Cali Stone!
I could swear that the folks who designed the Guzzi twins heard a warehouse full of dressmakers on sewing machines and thought to themselves, "How can we make this a manly sound?" They did. They really did. I've only a Nevada 750, but when it hits 4k rpm, I love my ride-on sewing machine.
So I have a 2002 California Stone and the bike is making a loud ticking sound when I try to start the bike, and it won't actually start up. Any ideas on what this could be?
Wayne have you checked the valves lately? you will need to narrow down where the sound is coming from, front of gear box, heads, fuel tank etc... is it electrical, mechanical or metallic sounding? you might need someone crank the starter while you listen, good luck mate
Unlike Harley, Guzzi's sound isn't only exhaust. There are the noticeable mechanical sounds in play as well. Just like Ducati but not quite as pronounced.
Do all three of these bikes run through shaft drive? Very lovely sounds, by the way, plus the rare transverse V-twin! Though I'm afraid about the rider's shins accidentally touching the hot cylinders.
Yes, all the Guzzi V-twins, big and small block, run shaft drive. They are excellent real world road bikes, built to last, a joy to ride, easy to maintain yourself. A very good design that has stood the test of time. Not for racer types or those who want ultimate performance for short rides. Long term relationship that keeps getting better.
I always found it weird the Italians name motorcycles and cars after a American state. Never could really understand that. I get it’s from the cruising aspect but still don’t know why they did that.
Same firing rhythm. Check out 270 degree straight twins as well, sound very similar. th-cam.com/video/b3ZDS6ssXcc/w-d-xo.html And if the Fiat 500 Twinair had a 270 degree crank it would sound like this too...missed opportunity by Fiat haha. Unfortunately they used a 360 degree crank, so it sounds shit because of the even firing interval: th-cam.com/video/Fv_-7xECess/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/5QR9pY0FSS0/w-d-xo.html
I had an 850t at 20 and a V50 Monza at 22- they were both phenomenal. Having sold both, I bought a 750 Breva in 2004 and it sucked...hard. Whatever Aprilia did to it ruined it....
How can you not love the sound of a Moto Guzzi. Just beautyfull ❤
Like a steamboat bilge pump at idle, and like a lion at wide open throttle. Lovely Guzzi sound!!
I just bought a 2005 M.G California Stone for my first bike! I can't wait to ride
This thing sounds and looks awesome. Gotta love those Guzzis.

Tja... die ride ergonomics....
Die habe ich ganz schnell geändert. 🙂 die cali sieht jetzt ganz anders aus.
A better seat transforms the California's ergonomics.
The MG Griso is one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever produced. A valid alternative to the BMW NineT
thanks for those beautiful sounds..and the Guzzis really shine..Love em'...

Keep the cali and buy the Griso.
Sei un fortunato possessore di 3 bellissimi pezzi della produzione Moto Guzzi.
Bella la tua passione !!!!
Bravo !!!
Hai completamente ragione!
Grazie!
Sounds amazing! 1100 cc of magic sound! Enjoy!

Best sound in motorcycling. Well, maybe Ducati too.
All my Guzzis have had similar but not same cool notes. Thanks for sharing
Ya gotta love a Guzzi.
Moto Guzzi funcionando es un instrumento musical.
Certo,la Guzzi aveva un suono inimitabile.
Own a 1989 Mille GT 1000 as well as a 2013 V7 Stone 750. Love them.--mike

Battery.
It is not a sound of bike, it sing of the eagle.. Moto guzzi what else👍👍
Sono belle modelle...Queste marmitte sono strumenti che suonano come la musica piacevole.
Of the three, the SP, then the EV, then the Griso. I should post my LeMans IV though, the sound is intoxicating.
Lovely,one day i will own a cal
I hope you get your Guzzi. Good luck mate.

Has more of a cleaner V Twin sound than what a Harley sounds like. Can't really put my finger on it.
Use headphones😉
@@AK-gu9ri I did use my Sennheiser headphones for this video and it's amazing. It's a unique sound for a horizontally oppsed V Twin.
It’s due to the cylinder geometry. 90 degrees as apposed to 45 for the Hogs. Gives the engine a more even beat, a bit more like a BMW boxer engine
@@MarkMeadows90 horizontal opposed v twin ? It's either one or other the latter I think they are beautiful some sounding bikes coming out of India now

Per me è sempre affascinante la Guzzi ma il modello che mi affascina di più è il California 1100
dry clutch?
Yes
Perché scalare col motore al minimo..?
Love a guzzi 👍
So muss das :-)
Bellissime!
Great.

@@barryolaith exactly!
@@barryolaith sounds very spot on
Ages like fine wine
And runs better the more mileage you put on them
@@barryolaith sorry for the late reply (have turned off comment notifications), but that description sounds definitely like my kind of machine!

The name was given due to the bike beeing designed for Cops in California as a workhorse... A nice example is in the movie Harold and Maude.
timmyhendrix1992 Also feature in the Clint Eastwood’s movie Magnum Force.
Love these ... However I don't like the new gas tank .
I swear it sounds like a small block Chevy!
