    It looks like you were one of the few early release creators who were playing the new game instead of trying to play CS1. After all the bad news about the game today, this made me feel like I still would want to play it. I'd like to see more street level video about how people are using the city.

      It's a good game but the performance issues lock a good amount of people out of playing. When they optimize it and even add DLSS or FSR to the game I expect it to be a great successor to CS1.

      i bought it and we definetly worth, alll the additions are amazing! No money to terraform, money is way easier to come by now when you get to each level making it more fun as you dont go bankrupt right away to start. This game is very fun, the performance needs to improve but the devs have already said that is what they are currently working on.@@Invincable84

    • @Volaths
      @Volaths 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have the fix, it's dirty and it doesn't look as slick but it does work. So get to the point where you've terraformed the sea up to the very edge of the road, go until you cant get any closer, now instead of the next step of rebuilding out the terrain from the roads, instead delete road sections one or two at a time, and now get your alley or road turn off all snapping and build where the old road was, or until you see the wall section on one side and it'll allow you to make the quay. Rinse and repeat as you get close to the existing roads. It's finnicky and sometimes requires a little and I mean a LITTLE terraforming but it does work. It isn't as neat and precise either since it's not snapped to a grid but this will get it done for you. Make sure your road height is set to 2.5

    I think the port should be towards the top of the Island, in the open seas. This way it would be a deep sea port, be near to the shipping lane and cargo ships would not have to divert that much to dock at the port.

    • @mygetawayart
      @mygetawayart 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      idk i think it's pretty realistic to have the harbor be in there. You'd always want calm seas at your port to ease docking and departure maneuvers, and in case of storms, you'd want to avoid damages to the infrastructure. I imagine he'd wanna use the rest of the inner coastline as a harbor, leaving the view of the open ocean for beachfront properties, hotels and parks.

    • @grunge0023
      @grunge0023 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@mygetawayart True, you would want to keep the port safe from the natural elements but majority of the ports of countries have deep sea ports which means accessibility to larger cargo ships with easy access from the shipping route. For protection however, a sea wall could be used like he used in Port Douglas I think. But all major ports are always open and deep sea.

    • @SuperNugget92
      @SuperNugget92 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@grunge0023 Generally speaking: If you have the option to use a bay or have some sort of big river/river delta, you want to use that as a harbour and dig it deep for the biggest cargo ships.
      For example take a look at europes Nr1 and Nr2 biggest ports. Rotterdam and Hamburg. Theyre both using a rivers. In the case of Hamburg its more than a 100km(~60miles) away from the ocean. New York would be a good example aswell.
      As for the river delta, you could take a look at Shenzen.
      As for a bay, you could look at the broader port area of Athens, Rio de Janierio, San Francisco , Pearl Habour even Hongkong.
      An example if you dont have such natural features is Barcelona or Los Angelos. Were you find seawalls, as you discribed.

    • @elementalgolem5498
      @elementalgolem5498 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@grunge0023 not entirely true. Many big ports are indeed protected by natural barriers. Just because there's land protecting it from the elements doesn't mean the water is shallow. Oslo port comes to mind.

    • @grunge0023
      @grunge0023 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@elementalgolem5498 I did not know that. Thank you for adding to my information, I always thought that major shipping ports were always deep sea and with no natural barriers like Dubai, Salalah and most deep sea ports of South Asia and East Asia.

    Man I just could not get my quays to work the way you did it. I improvised and if you right click the middle of the dirt in one of the roads to set the leveler, and then level the path of the roads you made and make a platform about half way down the side of the road no in the water bs. Thanks for the pre road idea, great to help guide your layout.
    Love the build thanks.

Makes sure your road height is set to 2.5

    I really like how you think about a story of the place here. I've been trying to do that with a British type city that has a mix of German, Norse, Franc, Saxon, Norman, Angle, Celt and Roman influence. Especially with naming. Helps that there's random bridges and ruins around the map or little farms, is that just when doing European theme? But I'd never considered a lot of these simple tricks.

    To be honest, even playing legit, you just build geothermal electric plants everywhere possible, upgrade them and export what they make (one seperate powerline to the edge of the map each). I have 40k pop, $100mill and almost 200k/hr. I can AFK and the city basically runs itself for hours.

    I saw a review in IGN and another channel. Reviewers keep ranting about how everything is so hard, lots dont fall into place when the terrain isnt flat, and everything looks ugly. But all streamers playing SC2 build spectacular cities, everything looks beautiful and neat.
