I am also amazed by the engineering, planning, and thinking that was the force behind developing these wonderful feet and sewing machine attachments. Have you done or will you do a complete series of videos explaining how to properly use all of the Singer feet and attachments. I think this would be extremely helpful for most people who sew. Many people use one or two feet because they don’t know how to use the other ones. Would you be able to suggest a user manual for all Singer feet and attachments. Perhaps, you could post that link, whether the booklet be free or for pay. I feel I need a written reminder to use these feet and attachments correctly. Otherwise, with a reference, I will forget, and many of them will sit in the box unused. Thank you for any additional help you could offer, whether it be in video format, an online link that can be printed, or a booklet that could be purchased.
Thank you, I was wondering why I would need braid on the underneath, now I see! what a lovely quick and easy way to edge t-shirts, tablecloths, blouses, light weight curtains, bunting, childrens wear etc etc. Beautiful demo and love your description of how you did it too :)

Hello goldnchocolate, This is a hand machine - there is a still photo of it at the beginning of the video. We lined the camera up with the machine so it gave the view that you would have if you were sitting down and sewing. When you see the machine sewing on video I was standing behind the tripod with the camera by my left shoulder, my left hand was coming round the left hand side of the camera and I was using my right hand to turn the handle. Glad you enjoyed it!

Me included who just wants to learn how to treadle and has bought the third absolutely pristine 201 (in a treadle cabinet) and as a bonus received a full box of accessories! Underbraider included, but did not understand much from the original pristine Singer manual.
Man, not only did I learn something great but it was like listening to Sarah Brightman instructing me. I might play this over and over just for the voice.

Lizzie, I like your videos very much, especially since you are so clear with well-focused pictures. It seems like there is no fabric guide for the item being embellished with the ribbon. It seems like your hand must be very steady, trusting that you are feeding the hem exactly right, so the ribbon is properly positioned. Your results here are truly beautiful. What is the maximum width of ribbon that can be fed under the hemmed fabric? Thanks once again.
Excellent job of making a clear instructional video. What is the advantage of the underbraider as opposed to simply stitching the the ribbon/braid in place on the upper surface of the work?
Manalto Would guess, half the work and one less seam, thereby reducing bulk, etc. When hemming then applying a top finish (i.e., braid, ribbon or couching) there will be a seam to content with leading to possible wonky stitching. One CAN fo this in two steps, but will necessarily entail more work, time and careful placement of top finish. It is often fun and a challenge to a different path to the same destination.

These vintage feet are amazing, I wonder why you couldn’t put the hem seam right side up with the red ribbon on top of that, so you can see the progress as you sew. There must be a reason, but I’d like to try it out sometime. Thank you.

Maximum width of ribbon? Very narrow. It has to fit through the underbraider.
