There are so many small details I love about this video. How they are all applauding a fake actress pretending to know who she is, how the camera cuts really quick after she falls to just capture the people who were surprised and not the ones laughing, how both actually felt on their fronts without fear just to make it more realistic. This is such a great scene
especially for the perfect delivery. Chaplin would have been proud. Not even a single smirk from Sacha while making his fellow actors pee themselfs with laughter...
Typical humor of a country that invaded less powerful countries in the other half of the world, murdered their people, plundered their wealth and destroyed their history. No surprises here.
Ive been watching this video for years. It remains the greatest, funniest bit ever done at an award show ceremony. Sacha Baron Cohen is pure comedy genius.
You should look up the time Robin Williams was called on stage after losing to a two way tie between Daniel Day Lewis and Jack Nicholson for Best Actor at The Critics Choice Award with only the three nominated. The trippy thing is Salma Hayek was presenting the award then too.
I swear all the Brits in the room know exactly whats happening because they know who they're dealing with whereas all Americans just look to be in shock haha
0:55 "his unique talent is to immerse himself into a character that is believable and funny enough to make the audience roll around on the floor... '' 🤣
This is an excellent piece of comedy and amazing precision planning. First up everything Salma says lays the foundations down for what you are about to see then you have the actual accident itself which is done to perfection as you need to know where the woman will land when the wheelchair goes flying into the audience plus the speed in which SBC goes in to keep the pretence going makes the audience go from pure shock at what's happened to realise that everything is not as it may seem.
At the start I thought how remarkably young she looked, right up until she went off the stage. If the stunt woman playing Grace is 73, then I'm over 150 (I'm 75).
If he’d have missed his mark this would have been a disaster. The skills and work that he puts into his gags is incredible. Compared to other comedians working today he’s by far the most talented and ground breaking.

A vey nice comedy/horror sketch that got well acted. I am surprised though that all the credit is being given to the actor Sacha when 90% of the success for this act returns to the stunt young lady who took the fall and made it look so realistic. Well done.
The uncomfortable half-laughs for the first 10-15 seconds of the bit... people weren't sure if it was a joke, because it's Sacha.... they wanted to laugh but didn't want to be that awful person laughing if it wasn't. Absolute gold. I think when he started heading back up on stage most people clued in on the fact that it was probably staged and you heard the laughs get a bit louder.
Nah no embarrassment was ever going to be felt, he and the stuntwoman totally pulled this whole segment off to perfection. Only pride is warranted from them and only awe is warranted from everybody else at the masterful execution of this incredible gag.

Sacha does then employ a different comedic style - of being an uncaring egotist, which is when the joke deliberately goes back to being at the expense of Sacha because he'd been an 'attempted hero' for a few seconds trying to give her the kiss of life.
