Sacha Baron Cohen - Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award - pushes woman in wheelchair off stage at awards

- Sacha Baron Cohen on top form once again as he 'accidentally' knocks Grace Cullington, an elderly lady, supposed last known surviving actress to work with the late, great Charlie Chaplin, (or 'actor' to which she is referred in this clip), at the BAFTA LA Jaguar Britannia Awards on Sunday 10th November 2013.
The numerous versions of this clip on TH-cam ask whether this is a prank or for real, but as this full length clip shows, is just the Ali G and Borat comedian in his top form. - ตลก
There are so many small details I love about this video. How they are all applauding a fake actress pretending to know who she is, how the camera cuts really quick after she falls to just capture the people who were surprised and not the ones laughing, how both actually felt on their fronts without fear just to make it more realistic. This is such a great scene
This man is such a bloody treasure. And highly underrated, imo.
Yes, definitely a genius...all was magnificent...as you said the details were amazing.
I feel relieved knowing that it was not the real elderly actress 😂😂😂😂😂
I actually got this on Whatsapp
Pulled off to perfection.
Someone give that man an oscar, please
+Cescolo it aint gonna be Leo though hhhhh
+Cescolo he's gonna take Dicaprio's one
i have bad news, Leo got one
agreed. brothers grimsby was brilliant. But I don't know do they ever give oscars for comedy (or horror for that matter). Silly.
+sdry The last 'horror' to win an Oscar was probably Silence Of The Lambs, and even then they had to market the film as everything else except that
Charlie would have busted a kidney. This is so much more in his honor than most things I've seen. Classic.
especially for the perfect delivery. Chaplin would have been proud. Not even a single smirk from Sacha while making his fellow actors pee themselfs with laughter...
Typical humor of a country that invaded less powerful countries in the other half of the world, murdered their people, plundered their wealth and destroyed their history. No surprises here.
Proof he totally deserved this award!🙌🏾 A Legend
Yeah but he’s a genocide supporter so definitely not a legend.
this is not comedy
I swear all the Brits in the room know exactly whats happening because they know who they're dealing with whereas all Americans just look to be in shock haha
Popskiptea HAHAHA
yes ..can i ask you a question
Because we Americans are accustomed to everything going to shit
Truth!
@Jackpot .....you know that SBC was a star in England first, right? And that he's British? You know that, right Sunshine?
that looked so real it's actually insane hahaha
it's not real?
how?
I mean he pushed her.. she fell.. how was it a prank? was it staged?
@@bbwa.moses_1852 obviously loool!
@@krpticspawn7069 but she did get hurt😿
@@bbwa.moses_1852 bruuh! It was a prank chill lol. They obviously must have practiced it before they did it lol

Very few people actually prove on stage why they are receiving that award😄
No one has ever proved it other than Mr Bean.
"It takes courage to make a fool of yourself."
True
He's so good at playing the arrogant narcissist, he's so talented in playing so many roles.
There's definitely some actual arrogant narcissism in him though - against conservatives, particularly American conservatives
@@Picnicl I'd just call that good comedy.
@@Picnicl Then maybe the conservatives should stop being easy targets.
@@Picnicl well maybe because american conservatives are pretty fucking dumb most of the time?
2:41 his wife telling his parents it's a joke
she's got his back lol
good find!!
That was actually TRUE !!! Lmao
Swear to god she is the best wife ever. Some other woman would have said she isn't coming
damm sure, u gotta eagle's eyes
Ive been watching this video for years. It remains the greatest, funniest bit ever done at an award show ceremony. Sacha Baron Cohen is pure comedy genius.
I watch it every now and then to cheer myself up :)
The same thing I do😂
Hello from the future, I can confirm it is still the greatest
@@ytzpilot I knew it would be!
You should look up the time Robin Williams was called on stage after losing to a two way tie between Daniel Day Lewis and Jack Nicholson for Best Actor at The Critics Choice Award with only the three nominated. The trippy thing is Salma Hayek was presenting the award then too.
Charlie would’ve ABSOLUTELY loved this joke. I mean, it’s got all the elements of what made his own material classic.
Host - At 87 she's the oldest surviving actor to have worked in a silence movie with Charlie Chaplin.
Charlie Chaplin - And i took that personally
Yeah emphasis on the word surviving
What. A fucking. Genius.
ur pfp.. is it him?
He deserved much MORE than a simple Oscar....
he ll get a memorial one ;-)
That's not an Oscar
@@ambskater97 a bafta is the British equivalent of an Oscar, but he's just getting a ceremonial award afaik.
I just learned that she's a stunt woman and is 83 lmao it was real
So good. Sacha is a comedy genius. The setup was so well done and that Isla Fisher name joke is so spot on. She looks so proud of him too.
It crazy how they set the crowd up emotionally. Im honor to live in his era.
So happy it was a joke, I couldn't stop laughing. Sascha is such a genius in his craft. That was too good
sacha parents must be like: Omg why is this our son
Have you heard the laughter? I mean they know what his Son is doing and he is doing a hell of a Job. He is a Comedian after all, and making the Crowd laugh is all he wants.
I'd be honoured to have him as my son
Our so who graduated from Cambridge, makes millions of people laugh and is a constant thorn in the side of bigots, racists, sexists and many others, who is one of the most successful comedians of our and any time... ye bet they're fuming, clown
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA
this comment is obviously a joke come on people
So the audience already knew it was fake? because nobody stood up and helped her...
Thats normal in the U.K. nowadays
xylfox They weren't in the UK?...
It was BAFTA of course they were in the UK....
008Invisibleman They were actually in Los Angeles, presented by BBC America...
Well, most actors present there are British, since this is a BAFTA ceremony (hence the mask thing on the podium).

Seeing this was exactly the reason why I thought Will Smith walking on stage towards Chris Rock was going to be a funny skit
This video came to my mind after Will Smith and Chris Rock scene at Oscars.
For me it was Sasha sneaking in and doing Ali G at the 2016 Oscars.
Was the slap a publicity stunt? 🧐
@@empirebbk of course
This is an excellent piece of comedy and amazing precision planning.
First up everything Salma says lays the foundations down for what you are about to see then you have the actual accident itself which is done to perfection as you need to know where the woman will land when the wheelchair goes flying into the audience plus the speed in which SBC goes in to keep the pretence going makes the audience go from pure shock at what's happened to realise that everything is not as it may seem.
I can’t believe the stunt woman was 73 at the time. Very impressive.
My heart skipped a beat when I first saw this, but then I figured out it was a joke and I couldn't stop laughing.🤣🤣🤣
Look at Isla Fisher at 3:52. You can tell she fucking loves being married to Sacha Baron Cohen
Not anymore 😂
Haha😂

i’m so sorry to the few ppl who took way too long to realize this was a joke
2:41 isla tells them its a prank, left bottom corner
❤❤❤ Been watching and laughing with this man for so long. Bless his heart for being so brave, irreverent, iconoclastic. Brings me such JOY!!! Thank you
If he’d have missed his mark this would have been a disaster. The skills and work that he puts into his gags is incredible. Compared to other comedians working today he’s by far the most talented and ground breaking.
I'd rather give the stuntwoman Sandra Lee Gimpel, 74 at the time, most of the kudos here.
@@Picnicl what on earth. At 1st I thought they get a young stunt person and put old person makeup on it. This looks dangerous.
Most underrated and underused comedy actor of the world.
**Sacha Cohen walks on stage**
Me : Ok, something is about to happen.
For a split second I thought this was real, but then I remembered this is Sasha Cohen and nothing is real.
Even if she's a stuntwoman, having a old lady in her 70s fell like this can't be healthy.
Props to her commitment
Well, she's not going to be a lady in her 70s, is she? Get some common sense. Of course she is a much younger stunt woman wearing a lot of old lady make up and prosthetics.
she isnt 70 😂
@Vespa123
Actually, Vespa, Sandra Lee Gimpel is the stuntwoman, and she was 74 at the time, being born on 17 September 1939.
expected nothing less when it comes to chaplin-esque feats. brilliant
This man may be a comedy genius history will tell.
Best comic actor in stage!
This never gets old what a legend! 🤣
Sacha Baron Cohen deserves Oscar his performance in The Dictator was fabulous ❤️
I needed quite some time to realize it was all a prank
That name joke 10/10
I just realized ive been coming back here every year to watch this. Its still funny af
4:27 Anyone else hears so much the word 'Oh my god' with british accent?
+Lloyd Franklin Benedict Timothy Carlton is the actor who said "oh my God", He is from Hammersmith, London, England, UK
+Lloyd Franklin If you're gonna be so high and mighty about it, mate. You'd also be wrong in saying there's such a thing as an english accent. A Yorkie speaks quite different to a bloke from Brighton. Hell, even in London it's totally different accent between a cockney, an eastender and a posh from chelsea. So stop your stupid nonsense. British accent is a perfectly acceptable thing to say. There's a lot of them, granted, but all of the Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish and English accents are, in fact, British accents.
Sincerely, an East-Londoner BRITISH guy.
There's no such thing as a british accent you fucking bumbaclart
I need to know if Clooney was fooled.
If he was(wait for it...)..."HE-WON'T-GET-FOOLED-AGAIN!!!" #YEAAAAAAH
Who is Clooney?
Michael Ji George clooney jackass
Clooney seems to have a smirk on his face early on that indicated he knew something was going to happen.
The one time when you would never want the speech to be cut short by the music playing them off.
Inside Edition just revealed who she was.
I love how the description of this video makes it sound like he intentionally knocked her off
The King of Trolls and Pranks has done it again.. Nice One Mr. Cohen!!!!
That has to be one of the best acceptance speeches/act's I've ever seen or heard.
I so remember that, he literally made that night memorable forever l mean to have a whole audience of your peers in hysterics is a special thing.
Even though I've seen this before, I was still touched when she gave him the cane. That's how good this is. And how dumb I am.
I seriously can't stop pissing myself at the way she was picked up and carried out 😭😂
easily one of the best celebrity award speeches ever
Only Sacha can pull off something like that. Bloody brilliant.
2:33 is what you are looking for
not really.. 3:04 is the one
Agree with the genius comments here. He’s the most fearless comic ever. Absolutely hilarious and always leaves you wanting more.
a joke about killing an old woman???
"what a great way to go, giving an award to me"
Exactly bro, IT'S A JOKE about killing an old woman.
That's the kind of think Trump would say only mean it.
It's not actually a joke about killing a woman. It just features that. It's comedy of embarrassment - that it's embarrassing and tragic that he would unintentionally kill a sweet icon of cinema after he'd tried to reciprocate her charm by doing a Chaplin walk. The further joke is that it's clear she must actually be a stuntwoman and that many of us have been fooled. Sacha does then employ a different comedic style - of being an uncaring egotist, which is when the joke deliberately goes back to being at the expense of Sacha because he'd been an 'attempted hero' for a few seconds trying to give her the kiss of life. He arguably doesn't get the tone right at the end - it's difficult not to think that the lady has metaphorically and literally become 'the fall guy' . It'd have been funnier without the over the top about-face 'uncaring egotist' bit
@@Picnicl Oh great!! It's not a joke about killing an old woman. It's comedy of embarrassment about killing an old woman!!!!
@@alexandreromani Correct Alexandre. Now, there isn't really a wily cyote trying to kill a roadrunner in cartoons either. There isn't really a married couple trying to kill each other in The War of the Roses. No mommas have been thrown from the train. Death Becomes Her wasn't a lifestyle suggestion or documentary. Entertainment works on different levels than you're willing to enjoy so you'd probably be best avoiding much comedy, all murder mysteries, and all cooking programmes because they feature dead animals (fair enough if you're a vegetarian). Nobody sane or nice wants to kill anyone, accidentally or deliberately, particularly not frail old ladies, and it's horrendous in real life. But nobody wants to see a plumpish boy get stuck in factory machinery in real life either but we still manage to enjoy Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Even the repeat runs of this Video make me laugh really hard!!!
This dude and Will Ferrel are the best performance actors to walk the earth at this time

A vey nice comedy/horror sketch that got well acted. I am surprised though that all the credit is being given to the actor Sacha when 90% of the success for this act returns to the stunt young lady who took the fall and made it look so realistic. Well done.
She was interviewed recently. She was 75 when she did the stunt.
Just because Inside Edition spilled the beans.
The uncomfortable half-laughs for the first 10-15 seconds of the bit... people weren't sure if it was a joke, because it's Sacha.... they wanted to laugh but didn't want to be that awful person laughing if it wasn't. Absolute gold. I think when he started heading back up on stage most people clued in on the fact that it was probably staged and you heard the laughs get a bit louder.
It would have been preferable after the fall to put her on the stage to applaud her for her latest act.
I like how everyone there knows it wasn't real
I nearly peed my self from laughing.
LMFAOOO I’m so evil for looking this up and laughing 😂
I literally fell of my chair when i saw this! Brilliant! Totally brilliant!
This man’s quick wit and improve skills saved him from embarrassment, this man deserves an Oscar
Nah no embarrassment was ever going to be felt, he and the stuntwoman totally pulled this whole segment off to perfection.
Only pride is warranted from them and only awe is warranted from everybody else at the masterful execution of this incredible gag.
Damn you're dense
His humor is everything lol
That was fantastic. The BAFTAs actually look like they'd be fun to attend.
At least we can say that was a “great success”
Brilliant!!! I was so glad it was all acting!!
