Jerry is prob on GM level at least in blitz and bullet (if you can consider it that way), he just did not play apparently for a long time as professional player so his title is not up to his actual level. He also is long time, many years chess youtuber, streamer, commentator, so his level in that is very high.

10:17 Chess is such a beautiful game. The fact that the peices have very simple, first thing you'd think of, type moves, and yet a pawn far away from the action in the center changes the entire game based on which of two adjacent squares it is on, is just so wonderful.
Taking one from Ben Finegold here. The chess community would have complained if they were all draws, they complained that nepo lost & they probably would have complained if magnus lost. These people don't enjoy chess. They enjoy complaining! Lol.

I occasionally looked at official FIDE coverage and while it was undoubtedly on a very high level chess-wise (who am I to argue with Vishy and Anna?), there was too much of unrelated jibber jabber, selling merch etc. Jerry is just about chess, sometimes throws a little joke in to not make it so boring. IMO great balance in general.
There should be a monument to Jerry featuring a colossal statue atop a plinth adorned with a Latin inscription reading Desine prius quam concias, aut te quadrabit Antonius, which translates to "stop before you chop, or Anton will square you."
The classical chess games are a little long to watch for me so your videos are perfect recaps. I hope you will make more game covering videos, not just world championship, I really love to watch your analyses :)

A theory on Carlsen’s Nf5 move was that he didn’t want to take such a win on a gold platter like that, he knew the press would tear Ian apart losing like that, basically progressively losing in a worse way every game, so he let the game drag out into a winning endgame
It's a good theory, but really I think Carlsen just didn't see the rook lift until a few moves later or he saw it but wasn't sure it's the best way, it's easy for us with the engine showing the top moves, but he still has to find them all and make sure he doesn't blunder, he knew the knight jump was winning and so he went with it, but he couldn't see that annoying pawn push deeper in the line which made it a bit more complicated, but it the end both ways were winning, Magnus simplified the game into a winning endgame where he knows he can't blunder, and even thou it takes longer, it's safer and in the end a win is a win.
@@SuperMerlot could be, but also if I was in his position and knew I’d win even if I dragged it out, I’d save someone the embarrassment in a WC, I like to win from my own work more rather than being handed a win from a blunder. You’ll take it anyways, but it’s not as gratifying, at least for me and Carlsen also has mentioned he’s like that. And as the comment below pointed out, he isn’t throwing his chances away by being merciful, he would’ve won no matter what but saving Ian from embarrassment over such a blunder would in fact be graceful, considering that it was clear he completely fell apart after game 6

Hey Jerry -- great stuff as always. Thanks for all 11 games. I've been paying attention to the clock thru the several games, and it seems like Carlsen was almost always down on time. Is there an idea along the lines of "Magnus was just thinking/calculating better/more" throughout the match? Of course, he almost went overboard on the calculating in game 6 (twice), but it seems to me that the time differential was ususally in the same direction.
Magnus manages his time, he will identify the important moves on which the game pivots and invest time in them, calculating lines and re-re-rechecking. As you say, Magnus will often spend very large chunks of his time on just one or two vital moves. But is it going overboard, when small mistakes can so easily swing the game? Or it is that just the standard which has made him 5 times world champ? Nepo on the other hand has a habit of playing quickly, and it cost him dearly in this match. Two blunders came after only thinking for a few minutes, he seemingly missed problems that someone of his standard must surely have seen if he had played with the appropriate care and spent more time analysing the move. He had plenty of time in both instances but chose not to use it. Who am I to advise him, but it does seem to me that better use of his time is a way he could easily improve his game.

Magnus both won and made the life record from 1-4 to 5-4 what a guy
With only one bad move, I believe this was the most accurate Carlsen has ever been in any WCC match. Truly a well-deserved victory. Only one person has the potential to unseat Carlsen and I think that's Firouzja.
Unfortunately, Game 2 was the only game that i found interesting. The marathon game was a curiosity but as soon as Ian traded two rooks for Magnus' queen, I was was convinced of what would follow and the end result. The coverage on this channel was calm and insightful. A first class job. The similarity to the Capablanca-Lasker match 100 years ago is interesting. 1. four point margin of victory, 2. loser wins no games, 3. one complex game with competitive tension, one more interesting game after that, 4. after the first decisive result, the loser never finds their bearings again, 5. the winner made almost no mistakes and seemed unstoppable while the loser played short of what was expected of him, 6. the openings played seem to come from the same era.
im not a professional player, but nepos blunders in the whole tournament were in most cases avoidable (with the huge exception to the first game he lost of course) i hope he will be the next candidate as well& show that he is better! great championship, i enjoyed every game a lot, especally when reviewing with chessnetwork:)
Upon further investigation, it has been determined that GM Ashley's head is actually more pear shaped. This is based on new information about how the land masses are spread out over Maurice's skull.

I think Magnus chose to enter the rook and pawn ending out of respect for Ian. I refuse to believe Magnus didn't see the Rd6.
I was wondering about that as it was pretty easy even for me to calculate. Black takes the pawn (exf6+) and it's an easy checkmate after that.
