  • Susan Stevenson. Susan Cook. Susan Kendzia. Susan Lee. All of these names belong to the same woman. You’d never know by looking at this charming, gray-haired 62-year-old southern grandmother that she has spent decades leaving a trail of illness, abuse, and death in her wake. Even though the words “Munchausen syndrome by proxy” have hovered over Susan’s head since the mid-1980s like a dark cloud, she has been permitted to continue committing countless alleged atrocities against children and others for over forty years with little to no consequence.
Over the course of this miniseries, I will expose Susan’s alleged misdeeds with the help of those who were fortunate enough to survive her, and I will speak out for those who weren’t.
In today’s episode, I will tell you about two baby boys who were adopted into the Kendzia home nine months apart and who died under similarly suspicious circumstances, also nine months apart.
This is Part 1: Michael and Kevin.

My brother was born in 1950 , diagnosed with CP before he was a year old. My parents were told that he wouldn’t live into his twenties and would need so much care that he should be institutionalized. Of course they refused. He is the best brother anyone could hope for. Graduated with honors from Ohio state. Worked as a social worker for Dallas Texas, is now retired at age 72. The love of real family got us through without thought . He is so wise and my hero and roll model. All people have their special gifts to share.

My mother favoured my older sister, she was perfect, I was not, she was happy, I was miserable, she had new things, I got the cast downs, she was clever, I was dumb. As she was given everything on a plate she expected it still when she got older, and it didn’t work out that way, why should she work when she could get government handouts! She lives in a council property that’s filthy because why should she clean! Her kids all have problems, drugs, the law, don’t work etc. I left home, supported my self while training in the medical field, married, bought a house, had kids who all work and now own their own homes, I’ve done well for someone who was expected to fail, while she failed big time. She’s still like it now in her 60s, even stealing from a dead persons bank account because ‘ I didn’t know it’s illegal’ yep my mum did a good job raising her BUT her treatment of me made me the successful person I am today, so thanks mum!

I completely get it. My Mom passed away this past Thanksgiving and I feel like a 53 year old orphan. She was absolutely amazing and deeply loving and nurturing. She remarried when I was 3. I’ve always longed to be close to the man she married but it’s been a huge struggle. He’s just gruff and not very understanding or affectionate but in his older age he’s really softened up towards me especially since we’ve just lost Mama. They had a child together. My sister is 9 years younger than me and she got his personality. She has told me many times that she knows she’s a B-tch because she says she’s like dad. I told her it’s nothing to be proud of. I’ve lived with her since last February until this past week. Had intended on getting disability and moving as quickly as possible but then in May Mama took a downward spiral. She had Stage 4 COPD and then we both contracted Covid and she went downhill quickly and we both had to stay with my sister because Dad literally refused to take care of her and he won’t allow anyone like hospice into their home. He was extremely sick once and said that if we called an ambulance he’d shoot them when they arrived. My sister would barely even come into the room and talk with Mom or eat with her. Nothing. She said she couldn’t take it but she’s also a huge germaphobe as is Dad. I am extremely crippled in my back and neck yet I cared for Mom, with the help of home bound hospice coming in and out but I was the one lifting her when she needed to be moved and changing her diaper. It was extremely hard and painful but I’d do it for eternity if need be because she was my precious Mother. She’d ask why my dad and sister wouldn’t come around much. I’d just say they were busy. My sister also told Mom and I during this time that she really didn’t want either of us there but dad “dumped” Mom on US!!!! I didn’t feel she was dumped. I felt they were cold hearted. My sister also said that same day in front of Mom that after Mom was gone she would never put me out because I’m her sister. She put me out last week and I slept on my ex husband’s couch for that week and now I’m living with my son in law’s Mom and her dad, niece and her two little girls and they treat me FAR better than my own sister. It’s ok because I do have two siblings from my biological father that do actually love me and WANT TO BE MY SIBLINGS! My sister that put me out doesn’t even love herself but that’s on her. I won’t continue to have toxic people in my life. I do pray for her that she’ll heal and learn to put God first and love herself and others. It does hurt but it does no good to feel sorry for myself or be angry. I’m just backing away and praying. I’m so happy for you that you were able to turn such negativity into a happy and positive life. Blessings

I think these abusers neglect the fact that these littles are actually pretty dang resilient. They can get by having these types of accidents, and tumbles, without any event at all really. Save for bruises here or there. Their bones are not fully fixed yet, and unless they have some type of mitigating bone density issue or disorder, they shouldn’t be breaking bones everywhere. It’s also been my experience that toddlers are tougher toward older kids vs the opposite. They don’t know their own strength until they do. Older children usually learn this by the time they are 3 or 4. Regardless, the way she describes these accidents makes it sound like she was present as an observer, but somehow unable to interfere. It’s bizarre. Like how do you give such detailed accounts of these “accidents” yet you’re unable to recount steps you took to prevent any of these accidents to start.

I went to the FB page and I was not ready for all the perfect sweet angels I would see, that suffered horrible deaths at the hands of adults who were supposed to love and cherish them. It literally broke my heart. The smiling faces of those precious babes, my stomach felt sick. I saw my daughter in every one of those faces. I had to close out, it was too much. I dont understand why anyone would want to hurt any child, how anyone could "lose their cool" or patience and snap and cause catastrophic injury, its insane. If you feel you are at your breaking point, and we all have been there as parents, you make sure the child is in a safe, area, and you walk out a few moments to take a few breaths and get control of yourself, or to recoup. Never do you act out in anger to a baby or child, you always need to have that ability to hold back if you are upset, stop and look at things from the bigger picture, put things into perspective, nothing is worth hurting your little one, nothing. We are entrusted by God to care for and bring these angels up into well rounded adults, how anyone can see it different, I dont know.

I’m only 6 minutes in and feel the need to make an observation. My Mom remarried when I was 3 to my stepdad but I’ve never considered him that. He adopted me soon after they married so I could have his name. I have desperately struggled since then to have a relationship with him. He’s just not a warm or affectionate person and it hurts me deeply though in his older years he is much softer towards me ESPECIALLY since Mom passed this past Thanksgiving day but I don’t go around abusing or killing children because of it. I just can’t wrap my mind around anyone who can do that regardless of what they’ve gone through but it’s not me. It takes all kinds but to me that’s just pure evil 👿

There is a common theme here of abusive guardians and parents blaming everyday accidents with babies and toddlers for horrific injuries. My 19 month old granddaughter is a climber and a little firecracker and loves to get into mischief, she falls all the time, often onto her face or head. I run to her and check if she’s ok and she rarely has even a red mark or a small bruise. I’m shocked at this because I think she’s really faceplanted the floor but she just gets up..which makes me think how violent the treatment of these kids must have been. Toddlers fall and bump themselves and even get it from other kids but the injuries sustained are NOTHING like this. There is powerful malice behind these attacks on these innocent babies.

I just love this comment so much. I am a first time mum, I have an almost 3 year old daughter. She is just like your granddaughter. For the big falls on her face and head I would rush to the hospital ( not now 🤣) and I had a paediatric doctor pull me aside and say “look, babies and toddlers are made to fall off change tables and couches and knock their heads, if they weren’t, we would have a lot more dead babies on our hands” I think he could tell I was a worrier. With that said, it makes me so so sad to know that the force, like the actual force it took for all these babies that Layne covers, imagine how hard they were hit. .

My son, now 23, was the same way, actually still is just as accident prone, but he was constantly getting VIP to the emergency room. There were two that were extra rough, one when he was a toddler, he climbed up onto the stroller as I turned my back a second, and when I turned back to him, it was slow motion, he went bam right on the hard tile floor with his right side of his face, he ended up with a black eye, swollen shut, and a swollen bump on his head. It was horrible, must have looked terrible to people. The second was when he was about 5 and came with me while I baby sat 3 siblings. I was washing dishes and he was playing, the family we were sitting for had stairs that were a facade of rock, and my son thought it was as good as a rock climbing wall, so he went for it, and smashed his chin open, needless to say, I left a friend with the kids I was watching and headed straight to the hospital for some stitches. Its the worst to see your child get injured, and even worse to see them mended with stitches, I could not even begin to think of doing anything on purpose to a child, I could never bring myself to try to cause pain or sadness to a sweet chubby little innocent face, some people are lacking that gene that shows compassion and love to the vulnerable and defenseless, and thats terrifying to consider.

    • @Jj1984.

@@ChloesColdEars111 it terrifies me on a whole other level, because I know that monsters like this exist I have never EVER allowed anyone but my sister to watch my baby other than her daycare while I’m at work. Because you said it perfectly, some people are missing that gene, they can’t help but cause harm to the defenceless. This may sound a little strange and I hope you don’t misunderstand, but if I was ever lucky enough to be given a baby to adopt, I think I would be a little extra with him, because they didn’t get the best start, so I would probably give an extra 10% more than my own daughter. The thought of having a baby in my care for the pure enjoyment of dishing out blows and causing harm makes me feel sick. These angels can not defend themselves they can not tell anyone what is happening, they have no choice but to endure it. Monsters.

@@Jj1984. Im the same, I still dont allow anyone to watch my daughter other than my mom and her fathers mom, but even then its only a few hours on a Sunday, and I dont need her to, she does it as a special thing with just grandma and grand daughter. I was a nut when she would go on Sundays though and remind my mother in law to remember she was in the car when they stop somewhere, or to make sure she cuts her food small enough, or not be an arms length away while swimming until she was capable of swimming on her own, etc. My daughter is 5 going on 6 in Nov, and one 3 loves of my life, the other 2 are already 23 and 18! The joy her face brings me, or her laughter, her smile, even when she drives me nuts, I am still in love and so grateful to have her. How anyone could take that for granted is sad. I also feel if I was given the chance to raise another child, mine or not, I would be the same as if they were born from me, and treat that child with love respect and compassion. These are human beings, people forget that, unless they just dont care, but the world is too selfish nowadays, and too focused on what people can get instead of what they can give. Its why I believe theres so much chaos, its all about "me" no one thinks of anyone else. Im glad you have such love, and I hope you have an amazing life with your babies, and when they have babies. my grandma was beautiful, intelligent, shrewd business woman. she helped to run a charity, she robbed them blind. she owned a very high end old folks home when I was a child, about 7 patients in her gorgeous estate. As a child I remember her tying them in their chairs everyday for years. I once saw her steal the rings from a dead woman's fingers and then lie to the woman's children. she would wash them on the back deck with a water hose in winter. I've seen her make friends.with very old people.and they would sign everything over to her and make her the executor of the estate because she had so much money and then she would steal everything. I found out she dumped a blind, elderly cat on the side of the road after its owner died because she couldn't sell the estate until the cat was dead. she was it's guardian. she was beautiful and seemed like the most wonderfully helpful lady ever but she was poison. she once got my poor aunt fired because she disagreed with her, my aunt had to take her disabled husband to the mattress store to work and my gramma called everyone that owned that store over and over and lied about it until my aunt was fired. the stories could go on forever. R.I.P. you evil b***h, just remember ya'll, evil.grows old too!

    • @daniellebenfield95
      @daniellebenfield95 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Ok, so i kinda had to try a few times before I got to hear the whole episode as we were literally at the beach while I was listening and well....my kids are crazy lol!!! Couple thoughts to add.
The whole open casket thing honestly weirds me out, period, regardless of who its for, or the age, but, even more so when its a kid, so cant blame her for wanting a closed casket. I think largely because two viewings/open casket funerals ive been two were particularly traumatic. The first one was when I was 19, it was literally the first vievieng I was ever at, and it had been for someone I was particularly close with.
The second kinds brings up a few somewhat relevant things from this episode. My older daughters friend, who had muscular dystrophy, died at six. Not just did they have an open casket, but it was literally open, in the sanctuary, throughout the service. It had just caught me off guard a bit i think partly because any previous services i had been to with an open casket, the viewing was in a separate room and I didnt realize it was a....thing to have the open casket in the sanctuary. I also hadnt planned on taking my daughter with, but she had asked to go, so i figured I might regret not allowing her to go, but it hadnt tdawned on me to prepare her for that particular aspect.
The other thing I kinda struggle with hearing about in general is the whole choking in the crib aspect. While that is absolutely NOT what we told my daughter, her friend had vomited and aspirated in her sleep. We just told my daughter that the child had died of complications from her muscular dystrophy. While technically try, didnt want to freak her out with the whole story. My oldest is now fourteen and the youngest is ten, and neither has any medical problems, but to this day, whenever they are sick, i have some kinda paranoia of thrm getting sick in the night, i might not hear them, and something bad might happen. Completely irrational, yet seemingly completely unavoidable :(

She's just so clearly lying. Especially when her description of him in the baby book or journal (whatever it was) says was was such a happy easy baby... an "easy baby" is not one who can barely sit up, is constantly getting hurt, and randomly stops breathing. Idk about other people but when my dad passed away I physically could not bring myself to say the word 'dead' or 'died'. My mind simply could not handle those words when referring to what happened to my dad. It was impossible. Please remember the children lost in those grey areas caused by their failure to die at the hands of a custodial abuser who plays hero single parent while collecting child support from the other parent who failed at blowing the whistle on their partner. Not all of us die at the hands of sick undiagnosed people. It’s a twisted life that we still choose to live. The reality being that no one should have to beg and be ignored over basic human decency. Either we get help or we die and all that is left in between is to survive one more decade. I have learned that no one will force an abusive parent to stop. Please get help if you think you need it so that people can THRIVE. XOXOXOXO
