He makes sense with return on investment. But remember, this is something you intend to do for the rest of your life. Job satisfaction is critical. Students often make the mistake of chosing degrees that are either too difficult and also, they go into the profession and they are miserable. University only does so much. It's the experience that's also important. There are things that univerisities can't teach you. I mean, don't laugh I studied a BEd degree and went into post graduate (it pays more). Teaching really was a calling for me and I have no regrets 😘 I have a lot of job satisfaction. Very informative video. Thank you so much Mitch!
Can thoroughly get behind considering job satisfaction as an important factor in choosing a degree. Follow what you're interested in and what can support you - happiness in all areas of life is important
I've been following your channel when i was still in grade 11 where in i started getting interested in engineering careers.I've applied at UCT for EE still awaiting for my matric results
@@zwivhuyandou493 hey! I'm in gr11 and i just wanted to know how things are going... why did you choose uct over up? I'm also really interested in the electrical and computer engineering program✊🏾💫
@@shonorlandomavie8930 Hey, Well I'm in my second year...I managed to pass my first year but the challenging courses were the programming ones as I had no prior knowledge...funny thing, I actually ended up enjoying them and passing very well...we did python and java programming languages, got to understand some concepts of electronics, introduced to some advance math, understanding the physics of electricity But just stick around mitch's channel, I had an idea of what to expect thru him...
Hey Mitch, I'm starting Computer Engineering this year at Tuks. What whould you recommend doing in order to ready myself for the course while on holiday?
All matric learners should watch this vedio , If you are matric student and watching this vedio , invite your fellow classmate to this vedio. Most first year student at Universities end up failing courses and depressed , because they lack information in this vedio. 🙏🙏🙏
Hey Mitch, Im also a student at tuks doing BSc Bio, I have a lot of questions coming in from where I used to school with people asking stuff about this, and was actually asked to do presentations like this for the Matrics at my previous school and was wondering if I could use your Uni videos as a substitution since due to covid I was not able to do it. Thanks for the content by the way helped ME out a lot in my first year.
All good points Mitch, one might also make a list of textbook titles for each of the modules in a particular curriculum of interest and flip through the pages of some of them such as the one you mentioned for Engineering Maths in an earlier video, th-cam.com/video/FyJTC1Tg60c/w-d-xo.html That one in particular is worth buying I think as it applies to many of the technical degrees one is likely to consider. Ask yourself if the chapters appear intriguing or incomprehensible and use that as one factor in deciding whether to proceed.
I have a big question to ask about the right study choice and return on investment So for years I've been considered studying Drama but at the same time, I'm worried I won't be able to do anything with that degree once I've graduated. What do I do?
What do you want to do with your drama degree - act, write screenplays, direct? You don't need a degree for those things. If you're worried, rather do a BCom or something and then work on your drama as a side project. I also enjoyed drama at school and hence this youube channel of me "performing" every video became a thing.
I'm taking my gap year this year and I'm also interested in studying computer engineering. I'd just like to know how compatible is computer engineering with regards to entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is less concerned with what degree you did and more concerned with how motivated you are as a person. Tech startups are founded with a solid theoretical knowledge though so I'd say pretty well
I'm planning to go study engineering at Stellies... My marks are slightly above average and I am quite capable of learning more... I'm just scared that I might fail some subjects... I also applied at NWU for a slightly "easier" degree... It won't pay as well, but its basically the same course just different faculties... Now I'm completely torn... Any advice?
If your maths and physics marks are good and you enjoy them then you should be alright. Must engineers fail a few courses and have to repeat so don't stress about that.
NWU is a good choice for any engineering degree that they have. I know that they are the best University for a BIng mechanical engineering degree in SA.
We have a holiday module on the 15th Feb which is two weeks long. But still have no info as to the status of that - in-person or online or whatever. So everyone's a bit uncertain. As for the very long holiday, I've been trying to make the most of it by doing a few Udemy courses and getting a job, so have been keeping myself occupied.
Look some are obviously more in demand than others and it's up to you what field to go into. But overall, I think since it's mostly linked to trade professions like architecture, engineering, QS and CS I think the faculty as a whole has mostly great future-proof courses.
I want to start a Bsc or bcom informatics at Unisa next year and apply for part-time Jobs... Am an average maths student and I've never done accounting in my life...just venting 😅😰
You don't really need one (at UP atleast) you take the bus from res to the University or you can walk. There is a mini shoping center with a dischem, Woolworths and some other stores across the road from the res. If you need to go somewhere like the doctor you can Uber or ask a friend to take you. However, having a car will obviously be safer and more practical, but it is definitely not a necessity.
jislaaik, it's really been 4 years of watching Mitch? time flies when you're watching amazing videos
Haha thanks man! Here's to a few more good years

See you one of these days then🙌🏼
This is some realest video💪... University is hard...
Thanks, just trying to be honest :)
Nice video, i wish i had this thinking before going for varsity. But nevertheless i enjoy Electrical engineering and this year is my final year.
Well done for nearly finishing such a hard degree!

Not a bad idea. Watching introductory lectures for the subjects on TH-cam would also be helpful
This is a very relevant video. Thank you very much
Which camera do you use to record your videos?
Thanks! GoPro Hero 5.

is computer science a hard technical degree that pays well and leads to a good Job?
The way the world is going I rate so
Are colleges application still open?
The usual application period is March till August if I remember right
What is the aps required for ur degree
Check the yearbook on the varsity website
this actually has no link with the content of the video 😂but at TUKS can you join a sport without actually really playing it before ?
You can try but you will sukkel

Can you make a video about : if you should buy a car for university even if you are staying in a dorm
Nice life problems 😭

If you're on the medical Campus you need a car. Else not really, you can use the bus and walk and bike
I don't have a car and it didn't affect me much, Pretoria is pretty small. Prinshof and Mamelodi campuses are slightly different though
@@mitch7w so if you are studying veterinary, you need a car?
Even with Psychology. Takes about 7 years to be accredited.
Exactly! Long time...
