I have a ThermaCell300 and I don't even bother packing it anymore. It does NOTHING! It may be attracting them for all I know but even after running for 30-45 minutes, I notice no difference in the mosquitos at all.
Then something is wrong and you might have a defective product. Just a few days ago I was painting the metal bars on the fence. Without the ThermaCell I could not stand the bites anymore. I started it and in a few minutes absolutely no bites anymore. Also, you might be using it in a high wind area. I noticed if it's really windy the performance is way worse. But it makes sense, as the substance can't create a zone with high enough concentration as wind blows it away constantly. So, again, either defective unit or extreme conditions for you. But in normal average conditions this unit is absolutely working as intended.
