Heat in death mountain isn’t the same as say gerudo desert, so ice/blizzard rod doesn’t work. It’s it’s own special state, hence why it doesn’t follow the rules of the thermometer and just, ya know, makes it burst into flames

During Vah Medoh’s Divine Beast mission, Teba will take you up and just before you begin the attack, he will ask you if you need to prepare. If you hit that option, you can open up a full menu of your entire inventory; no limitations.
I sleep really weird hours and I often have this video in particular play in the background while I try to go to sleep, and it has gotten to the point where anytime I go onto TH-cam around this time, this video is always at the top of my recommendations.
This challenge was actually inspired by a commentated minimum pause Majora's Mask TAS that I used to listen to while falling asleep. Glad to hear the tradition continues. :>

I just found out something. During the fight with Vah Medoh, you can actually access a menu with the capability of swapping arrows, shields, swords, etc. Before you do the fight, there is an option to 'Prepare' before you jump off the bird's back. So you CAN technically swap weapons on this run. Its just super annoying and after you finish Vah Medoh you can't access it anymore.

Also, I would push the fight with Vah Medoh as far as possible so you can continue to access this menu. You can always ask to go back down to the flight range when you're still on the back of the bird.

Just so you know, recently Vah Ruta has been beaten mapless thanks to a group of glitch hunters (including me). It made use of the Moon Jump glitch (even though it would be invalid for this run as it requires warping) as well as the Boomerang Curse glitch which is a consequence of a Collision Overloading (also requires menu). 4 of the 5 terminals are doable normally, but these glitches allowed us to send the trunk terminal flying in fast rotation and then access it through moon jump. That's just a little piece of info, I know it's not doable here but I'm just proud of me for achieving this!

I haven't beat either mode yet. I easily could I think (aside from the master sword dlc quest and maybe eventide isle) but I just don't want to end it yet. Once you get going it isn't that hard in a regular playthrough. Advice 1. Head to the goron climbing challenge for free healing early on. It's a teleport but its easy to access. 2. If you have DLC, go for the teleport item in the upper right labyrinth. The teleport item helps a lot in keeping a general area finding certain shrines such as the one inside a hill or the one in the ice river that can be hard to get to. It's also a major help during the korok seeds where you step on the platform and have to get to a certain place quickly. 3. Don't ever fight hordes of enemies unless you're in end-game. Just run, it isn't worth the headache. Individual enemies can be flurry rushed easy enough. 4. Armor upgrade everything possible asap. 5. Killing enemies causes blood moons, pick off lone moblins and hinoxes to get easier item respawns. If you save the divine beasts the lynel near zora's domain and the Colosseum aren't too hard if you're good at dodging and flurry rushing. 6. More difficult enemies = better loot. That's all I got for now.
@@DJTileTurnip It is not at all a standard legend of zelda if that is a turn off (or if that is appealing). If you have a switch and it looks even remotely interesting, I'd heavily recommend it (the champion's ballad dlc is definitely worth it, not sure about the sword dlc unless you really want difficulty). In my opinion, it is basically worth the switch on it's own but then again, it is the kind of open world game I've wanted since I started playing video games as a little kid. If you aren't sure, Arlo (blue cookie monster muppet is his avatar) has a 3 hour 20 minute or so long video on basically every part of the game.

Once the timer counts up to the set point, the next day's night will have a blood moon unless you are inside a shrine, which will then push the blood moon to the next night. The only exception is the panic blood moon which occurs immediately when the game hits a memory limit since blood moons are the way the game clears memory.
@@tadferd4340 I'm sorry to be pedantic but this mechanic has been bothering me for quite a while because I've heard both that it relies entirely on time alone aside from panic moons and that it depends on the enemies slain. Obviously, my experience has been that enemies are the bigger determiner but I had to look it up because it has been bothering me. Here's what the zelda wiki says on blood moons "Blood Moons can be initiated by overloading the long-term memory through slaying monsters and enemies, visiting several locations, Sitting past midnight at Campfires and Cooking Pots, sleeping past midnight at Inns, or by playing the game uninterrupted for three real-world hours." There's more in the wiki page but that is the activation methods listed.

It's worth mentioning that you only get put out if you start spinning _after_ catching on fire; you can't just spin2win up the entire mountain, unfortunately. It's still a much safer way to travel, but you can't avoid taking some damage.

I'm fairly certain the reason the home button wasn't used was because it would *technically* prevent Ganon from regenerating health, which defeats the purpose of Master Mode.
When you're on fire (in Death Mountain), you can start spinning a heavy two handed weapon to temporarily put out the fire. If you keep doing that, you can survive for quite some time.
Honestly one cool thing is going for TotK objectives before getting the paraglider; it’s kinda interesting in my humble opinion. I unexpectedly ended up doing it a bit myself, and accidentally did have to pull some sneaky strats at times! Maybe a little too easy but definitely an interesting challenge run I hope people will attempt. For a more significant challenge, either do minimal pausing or try to limit your use of abilities. EDIT: Yup, someone did pauseless on it.

well they do eat food to get there safely or they use sky surfing which I don't think would work in this challenge
@@liamdalemon1525 if you are *actually* speedrunning (flawlessly), then you would not be eating food, and doing BTBs do not require pausing, unless you want to add in a super launch, which you don't do in speedruns.

I'm fairly certain the reason the home button wasn't used was because it would *technically* prevent Ganon from regenerating health, which defeats the purpose of Master Mode.

When you're on fire (in Death Mountain), you can start spinning a heavy two handed weapon to temporarily put out the fire. If you keep doing that, you can survive for quite some time.
Honestly one cool thing is going for TotK objectives before getting the paraglider; it’s kinda interesting in my humble opinion. I unexpectedly ended up doing it a bit myself, and accidentally did have to pull some sneaky strats at times! Maybe a little too easy but definitely an interesting challenge run I hope people will attempt. For a more significant challenge, either do minimal pausing or try to limit your use of abilities.
EDIT: Yup, someone did pauseless on it.
