  • February 23, 2022 - In this first session of the second season of Art+, a series of virtual conversations on contemporary art, Shahzia Sikander, Pakistani-American visual artist; Sunil Gupta, U.K.-based Indian-Canadian photographer; and Gayatri Gopinath, associate professor of social and cultural analysis and director of the center for the study of gender and sexuality at New York University, go beyond their individual artistic ideologies as they investigate the broader cultural contexts within which queer art exists. The participants raised questions of identity, affect, desire, and the relationship between the personal and the political. Brown University doctoral candidate Arnav Adhikari moderated the discussion. (54 min., 49 sec.)
