    I'm still learning a lot about setups and usage - what's the benefit of the two DJS 1000 over something like a pair of MPC or Maschine, based on the primary usage being sequences and samples? Is it mainly to stay in the Pioneer ecosystem and comfort/familiarity?

    • @yrureadingthisname

      Seems like you would need many scenes if a track had lots of changes/variety. Like an 8 bar buildup into a 16 bar drop then into another 16 bars with differing variation. Wouldn’t you constantly be changing scenes?

    Didn’t hear if he uses STEMs or sampled parts from daw in pioneers...

    • @alexmint4998
      @alexmint4998 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matthew Howard yeah, on a detailed view I noticed he has 64 steps samples from Ableton. Don’t know the reason why to use those Pioneers for such task...

    • @IsaacDugdale
      @IsaacDugdale 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexmint4998 another advantage of having this setup is that the laptop can crash mid set and the Pioneers won't be effected, so it's more reliable in that sense. only thing that would happen is the soft synths stop working and he can presumably then use the other version of the live tracks that have the synths included afterwards.

    • @eelkekleijn
      @eelkekleijn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey I thought I would jump in. It's a combination of loops and stems. You're slightly limited with the Pioneers because you can't do full 7 minute stems. But I work around that by using single hits and 4, 8, 16 or 32 bar loops. If you think well about how you are going to map out the track towards the 16 tracks available before hand, you can pretty much do any track live on the DJS. My main reason for going with this setup is flexibility and reliability. I can improvise in my track selection and play into a crowd. My laptop could also crash mid set and nobody would notice. The beats and structure will still be there.

    • @alexmint4998
      @alexmint4998 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eelkekleijn Yep, reliability comes first. I was using Electron Machinedrum SPS-1 as keystone and ableton 7 as a sampler in my live PA minimal techno experiments (that was the year of 2008). Also remember DAW and laptop crashes in hot clubs... But I had a drum machine with master effects, yay!

      Bingo.

    • @yrureadingthisname
      @yrureadingthisname 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends. If your doing a live set where you are essentially just triggering parts and playing with the mix, then yeah your going to have a lot of time on your hands where there isn’t anything for you to do. Some performers find this down time awkward and clearly just faff around, others just roll with it and it doesn’t bother them. Someone like Kleijn clearly likes to be more involved, thus actually playing parts. Imagine being a DJ where you sometimes have minutes of time waiting to mix songs, just standing there haha
