i love your Podcast , thanks you brothers of the dominican order
I loved their retreat in June…highly recommend any retreat hosted by these incredibly intelligent men. I recently filmed a couple of videos for The Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, and all I could think about was how hard it is to be on camera and sound this smart and confident!
Been on a retreat led by Fr. Pine - it was good!
Awww...Fr. Jacob-Bertrand, we wanted to hear you sing 🎶
My guess is that he has a lovely voice.
It is so difficult to be a real Christian, but i learn a lot with you brothers ❤️🔥
The LORD's opinion matters over others' criticism: Exodus 20:8-11, 1 Samuel 15:22-23. God bless you both in Jesus precious name.
Ive been reflecting on my life, my vocation and how it’s structured. Probably a year ago now I stopped dating. 38 year old devout Catholic male and single. It’s not that dating wasn’t working out or that i didn’t have any prospects because I fell off the ugly tree and hit every branch down. It was more that it wasn’t filling the God sized hole in my heart and I just felt this stir from the Lord to “stop fidgeting”. I say that as a setup for how my day is orchestrated or how God has orchestrated my days. Wake up, I listen to lauds as I make coffee, verses for the day, rosary. I hit the gym. Then mass at noon. I work from home so I work for a couple hours. 3pm chaplet of divine mercy. More work. Dinner. More prayer. Spiritual reading. Then I geek out on catholic apologetics or conversion stories on ewtn. Prayer before bed. And then bed. And sometimes I stop and think, “wait…. Is this weird for a lay man to have his days structured like this?” What Father Pine said gives me solace. That heaven is contemplative and if God willing I get there, I’ll recognize it by how my day and days are structured around God
I like urban too. Art galleries are quiet, beautiful, parks + cafes are nice alone. You can appreciate people without interacting with them
This chat was very timely. Getting ready for my first 5-day, silent retreat and was feeling a little nervous (about the silence). Now i feel better about it. Thank you! God Bless 🙏
Good talk! Hated to miss your June retreat.
Silent retreats with the Trappists are the best
Oh I have read The Power and the Glory many times.
Retreat. Yup .
I wish you could address what is happening in the Vatican. Will the current Vatican synod change church doctrine? I think Pope Gregory the Great said, "No one does more harm in the Church than he who has the title or rank of holiness and acts perversely."
Kundera died today...no, it was 2 days ago my feeds are messed up. 😮
What religion wears this garb . Just wondering
They’re Dominican Friars (from the Order of Preachers), part of the Catholic Church! :)
Either you are of your Father in heaven or, you're of your father satan. To lose the latter, you must be born again in Jesus Christ . No religion or ritual or payment of any kind can begin to pay our sin debt to God.
