Those wets must be 20+ years old! Tread pattern was changed many years ago. Speak to some of the regular Miglia drivers as they discard slicks after a few rounds ideal for testing.
Your subframe comment reminds me of what my old boss told me. I came from a farming and engineering background, and so would make everything overkill and super strong. When I started race car fabrication I made everything too heavy. He told me, "Make everything so it's JUST enough." Just strong enough. Just long enough. Just big enough. Only just.
Good that you heated them up, as aluminium is hydroscopic and you need to force out the moisture, you could clearcoat the rest of the bare ally with techniq special 2K clear, it has etch in it, i used it yesterday to do some wheels, seems to bond really well.
Nice wheels, you need to get a ceramic coating kit for the rims to protect them, I made the mistake of not doing that to my SC 3 piece splits and they looked awful after a bit, it took ages to sort them out.
Ball bearings are a good way to stop paint getting onto the bolt seats. edit: just realised these are flat seat not tapered! the trick works well for tapered seats though!
Matt what wheel bearings will you use with those offsets they will need to be upgrades minis were heavy on bearings in normal use.metro hubs can be used with vented discs.
For a guy who don't like painting you spray bombing everything lol . Be selling you welder and plasma table to get a spray booth lol . More than half the battle is good paint products, right paint just works whether sprayed rolled or what ever . Stay warm, this time of year can be harsh in the workshop ... Have fun .
Earplugs are great for masking small holes too. 😎

nice wheels i would run a bead of silicone sealer along the joint , stops any small air leaks 👍

Absolutely - even clear powdercoated Aluminium will be rotting away over time as the Humidity creeps inbetween the surface and the coating.

I make 3 PC wheels for 1/4 scale R/C cars. Those look great. I made set with brass centers for a guy.
Somthing i found that works for bolt holes it a small circle stickers saves the hassle and is easy to apply

Not all track day companies allow slicks..... check before booking.....
Isn't sealant needed between the rim halves? I'm assuming tubeless tires might leak through there. Looking good.
Usually a bead of sealant is applied around the seam after the wheel is assembled

I think these formulas have a minimum weight (for the sake of safety strength) but no maximum as that’s down to the skills of the builder….
