    So apparently there are some TH-cam keyboard racers and mechanics that think a 355 Chevy is junk and slow and the only way to make him go fast is to push them off a cliff. I am not the type of person that goes on social media claiming to have this or that. But what I do have is plenty of videos and pictures Time Slips Dyno sheets showing what I have and what I build in my spare time. I may not have the fastest race cars and my 1968 Camaro may not be an overly fast street car when it's done but I guess I could be like mobile mechanic and other TH-cam keyboard Racers and sit here and claim to have a 8 second car with nothing to back it up. I think it's about time for some people to shut their pie hole or back up the claim of this 8 second car.

      @ChevyMustang1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ttsully6437 yeah them Big Blocks they don't like a whole lot of timing that is for sure. The dyno numbers I posted are at the crank not at the wheels so you would have to take roughly 20% off of that 625 horsepower and roughly 20% off that 575 horsepower and that would give you a pretty rough estimate of what it would make at the wheels. But as you know there are so many factors in how much lost you have in your drivetrain from the size of the converter how much slippage the converter has if your transmission has a roller tail-shaft what's in it for universal joints what's in it for gear oil. I'm hoping this exact same motor when I put it in the Camaro and lower the compression to roughly a 10.5 or 11:1 it will make roughly 520 at the crank I'm hoping to lose no more than 50 with the drop of two points of compression. And after comes off the engine dyno and in the car I will also be putting it on the chassis dyno

    It's from the LS keyboard crowd. They never even built an engine and they are all experts. They just read all the magazine stories and think the LS is the only engine worth talking about. They are mostly young with no background in drag racing or street racing like we used to do in the old days. That's where we learned about the SBC and how to make it run. Just look back over the years of racing in every class and the SBC is the one that did it all. Without the success of the SBC there would not be an LS. The SBC is a great engine and these dyno sheets prove it. All across America this engine reigns supreme. No other engine has had so much stuff made for it and every new thing is designed for the SBC first. Granted the LS is better in many ways to be sure but no one should look down their nose at this wonderful engine.

      @@stevie..d..pontiactransamm1215 thanks buddy the heads are a big part of it. They started out as 220cc runners after all the port work they are closer to 230cc now. Back 15 years ago those Dart heads were some of the baddest ones you could get and it's pretty sad to think about the money spent to buy them brand new and then the thousands of dollars in Port work invested in them where as a you can go out and buy a brand new CNC ported AFR head now that cost less money then are in these Dart heads and the afr's Not only cheaper but perform better but that's the good part of Technology. The other part that makes a big difference in the way this Motor Works is the camshaft as you seen in the specs .630 isn't a whole lot of lift but you have to remember that is with a 1.5 ratio rocker I have 1.65 but the big thing about the cam is as you seen the duration and the overlap that overlap and the size of the header tubes creates a lot of Scavenging and helping fill that cylinder with more are quicker

    • @stevie..d..pontiactransamm1215
      @stevie..d..pontiactransamm1215 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's definitely impressive. Dart has a cast head now brand new cast that flows nearly identical to a basic cnc ported head. Heads are huge it determines what size cam,duration etc. Key is the valves opening and closing asap. Thats why I love big bore short stroke engines.

    don't worry about what others think..
    I don't doubt that with that light weight you mentioned, that it can go 9's 1/4 mile times. If that is still based on 23° heads, That ain't slow considering it's still relatively small displacement. Not to many Ls guy's with similar displacement would be making that much power and going that quick naturally aspirated ethier.

    I have a 327 in a 3400lb car, with a 4 speed that runs mid 11s on everyday radials with me in the seat. No power adders of any sort. No nos, no turbo, no supercharger. 76 brand 110oct. A lot of people think they know what they're talking about, and as far as I'm concerned thats a dangerous personality trait. Ignorance of intelligence is much more dangerous than ignorance itself. Can you make more power out of more cubic inches? Sure you can, duh...but that doesnt mean its the RIGHT power...Theres advantages and disadvantages to both. Building a custom engine is exactly that, its not a factory engine built around the idea that it might go to the market today, or towing a boat or camper the next. I could certainly put drag radials on it and likely shave it down to mid low 10s in perfect conditions. Thats fast for a smaller small block in a car that size that could be driven daily, and sometimes during the summer is driven daily. Imagine what the engineered dart 427 small block does in my 2600lb car built to do nothing but run the 1/4 in as fast as possible...This car does not daily drive and would be difficult plus down right scary on any back road over 30 mph...but thats not what it was built for..However that engine in the 3400lb car probably wouldnt actually make it much faster on the track anyway. Hooking it up and trying to keep it straight without changing a lot would be a problem, even if the conditions were perfect enough i might be able to get it to hook enough towards the end of the track and have enough power to be a little faster but that kind of takes some of the fun away from it, if your trying harder to keep it out of the wall than you are trying to win or complete the race...not to mention, potentially destroying somthing valuable. In my case its 62 Super sport thats mostly original I dont want to mess it up and I dont want to change a ton of stuff that takes away from the originalness if you will, of the car. Either way it all depends on what you want to do with what you're building, and it all plays a roll, from engine, drive line, shocks, tires, brakes. Everything.

Other than that just a stout cam from Howard’s, it was sort of a custom grind but around 240s duration, .610 lift on a 113lsa.
