Day 2 of the Ford 800 flatbed build

Hey Austin, I drove truck and heavy haul for several years. The rub rail needs to be welded top and bottom along the stake pocket. Between the stake pockets, you can take a 2 inch piece of tubing, schedule 40 or whatever you want that’s thicker than that. Weld it to the side of the bed and then you can just reach in and wild across the top & bottom the best you can across the inside of the rub rail to secure the pipe, we called those chains spools. The way you’re doing your beds is very strong and people will chain and or strap to those rails. you know how we are as men we always overdo it. Lol Just food for thought. Every time I put a rub rail on I will top and bottom weld it to the stake pocket. That’s how they do it with the big trailer manufacturers and bed manufactures for trucks. I need to get a hold of you to see about getting state packets to see if your price is comparable to order them off eBay which I hate doing. I’m over by Lansing. We’ve talked A1 Mobile Welding . BTW that bed looks clean, I like the way you did it.

Well it to the side of the bed and then you can just reach in and wild across the top the best you can across the bottom to the inside of the rub rail to secure the pipe, we called those chains spools.
