I think it was brought up on the Sorted channel that taste is something like 80% smell. I'm honestly going to have to incorporate this idea into when I'm playing around with cooking in general.
I was taught to do this with cooking, if you aren't sure whether to add a spice or ingredient, sniff both, see if it blends well. Doing it with alcohol seems natural

As someone with bartender friends. I can tell you with confidence that this is how bartenders make drinks at 3pm before everyone arrives. (Mostly because at 3am they just wanna go home lol.)
Please do more episodes like this! I love the just playing around with ingredients that you have on hand, really shows the thought process behind creating cocktails, love it!
It reminds me of an Moroccan restaurant, so I name it after Tunisia, which is country about 1000 miles away from it... Love your videos and drinks Greg, keep up the good work and also the streams, fantastic to see how you enjoy streaming and live interaction.
Just watching you process off the cuff drinks and witnessing such excitement while you are working things out is just... such a breath of fresh air. It gives me joy in watching you showing such passion in creating drinks.
I must have poured mine wrong... Instead of a heady night in Tunisia, I woke up in a pool of my own sick in a howard johnsons bathroom, my wallet missing, wearing a tutu, and a mouth that tasted like I tongue punched a camel's fartbox...
@@jinxiejae Neither did I, I don't think he is. Sure he hipster'd the White Russian at first, but he's also the same guy who liked the Orange Whip, which amounts to an orange Julius with a kick of alcohol.

I love how you apply your vast experience and knowledge without coming off as snobbish or better-than-thou. And it's making me try to make things myself, which makes me appreciate cocktails more (much like making food does).
Really loving the jazzy, freeform style! Honestly I’d totally love watching whole videos of Greg JUST experimenting and trying to make new drinks on the fly. Maybe centered around a theme or trying to recreate a flavor like “Moroccan” or “Banana Split.”

Thank you Greg. I shopped for Appleton Estate specifically because of this channel and it has enriched my rum life and brought me out of the meyers dark age where I was living with the Kraken.
I do that nose thing when cooking. I've got a HUGE assortment of spices, condiments, vinegars, and herbs. When I'm just not sure why a dish isn't coming together, I'll open every bottle and jar I have , and smell them. Sometimes a dish needs that kinda dusty spice that black pepper can have. Or maybe a brighter heat from aleppo pepper. I've got a few containers of JUST black pepper from different brands. Some lean towards basil, or even anise. Some have a citrusy pop to them.
I don’t know about everyone else but this to me was super fun. I felt like Greg got to release a ton of his creativity and I loved this episode a lot. I hope you do this again as a special thing maybe for special episodes every so often.
I've got 2 for this one. Similar ingredients. Grasshopper - 1/2oz Crem De Menthe + 1oz Crem de Cacao + 1oz Cream (Optional: Vanilla Extract 2 shakes) ontop of ice. Made In-glass. This made me think of drink I started making recently for my wife. It’s 2 oz of coffee cold or hot. 3 oz. bailey’s Irish cream. 1 oz amaretto. 3/4 oz bourbon. Shaken over ice. Garnish with a dusting of cinnamon or chocolate. Add a few dashes of bourbon barrel aged cherry bitters on top. You could easily add peppermint to this drink. I bet you could crush mint candies on top. I hope you try this drink.

What you do is you cook the the creme de menthe and creme de cacao towards the end of the summer for a few minutes. And then you too it off with the peppermint schnapps for cooling. It makes it ten times stronger but sooo much tastier. I make this for my family every Christmas.

Not to mention, it keeps with the spirit of the episode because he's experimenting with alcohol exactly like Archer was.
To be honest he should do more drink mixing episodes where he just experiments with drinks on the fly. Might be costly though
