Really enjoyed the video Sam. A complete no brainer to sell the bike. Someone gets Jen's bike and you get some good money back on it. Pity about electric bikes being banned for track events. Have a great happy and healthy 2024 both you and Jen. Keep the excellent videos up. I do miss NZ heaps. Take care.
Thanks, Gary! Hopefully we have more beautiful days like that this summer and I can shoot some more scenic videos around NZ for ya. At the end of the say, we're motorcyclists. Electric or not, we still love to ride :)
Thanks for the update and great views of New Zealand. After I travel around Australia, I am sure to head to your area for some beautiful scenery. Tell Jenn that we are sorry to see her go!
I use my Energica for roadtrips only. I know there are much cheaper motorcycles for weekend trips, but I don't want to burn gas doing it... ...and it's just a lot of fun to drive electric.😀 Greetings from the winter break in Germany. I wouldn't mind celebrating Christmas on the beach🖐.
No reason to be jealous. I think New Zealand has probably much more to offer in terms of landscape as Germany. Maybe we have more roads, but most of them aren't really fun to ride.@@NewZeroland
I agree on the part that you need to use an electric motorcycle to make sense of it. One of the reason I've got mine, but I'm still using it way less than I expected because we were never required to get back to the office.
I really wish I could snag hers or any others for that matter. I want an Energica. My goal is to ride every single motorcycle possible. Hate the track bans 😢. I hope you two have some amazing days up ahead. Let's make 2024 better than ever! Love you guys ❤. Happy New year🎉
I have the same body height problem as Jen so big and heavy bikes are out of the question but i ride a Silence S01 for commuting in the city and work. It also have space for two helmets under the seat so it's ideal for carrying books for my work. I wish you a good sale and happy rides.
Makes sense to sell if Jenn is no longer commuting. And like you said, you've pretty much seen most of NZ. Would LOVE to buy that bike, but I just bought a house. So I'll be living on 2 minute noodles for the next 10 years. Great video.
Happy New year to you two, hope ya get some nice rides in this summer, bummer about the bike its like dropping a family member, but no point keeping cobweb's, good to see ya out an about, cheers!
It is said somewhere that - sharing is caring-. So I am excited to see what the next set of wheels will be. 😊will it be that black whit ninja from a couple episodes back😊
Yeah! We've had tons of fun on it, and now there are more electric motorcycles on the road in New Zealand for other people to have fun on. I can't remember what Ninja that was.. but nope, not a Ninja. I think we'll keep renting bikes at the track for a while.
I'm looking forward to touring through the South Island before my next job or possibly moving back to the US. Plenty of the North Island, though I've made it to Hamilton from Wellington via Napier already. Jenn's EVA is damn tempting!
Nice video and spot on IMO. If you’ve got an EV or EB... drive the bloody thing and buy less petrol ! Don’t let them sit in the garage...hit the road 👌
I ride 7 month a year since our winter are pretty long. I am getting older +60 and now on a can-am ryker .. different ...but fun , no clutch , foot brake only , easy in the city , ok for longer rides could be a bit more comfortable , I was looking at getting an Energica but cost is still very Hight for the mileage and time I would use it , I am still watching for a used on, to bad I am in Canada and you in NZ take care Alain & Yellow
Ahh, yep.. Energicas aren't sold in Canada yet, but a few people have imported them privately. It's only a matter of time before there's a used market there too!
All the best to you both Sam & Jen in the New Year⭐️ Hope you both had an enjoyable Christmas too! 🎄⭐️ Which do you prefer? Christmas in winter or summer?😉
Cheers man! I'm not sure actually.. Christmas usually means eating a lot, so we're all fat for the beach 😂 It doesn't work out well. Hope you had a great Christmas too!
Sam, life changes, priorities change. Adapting to a new life can be sad initiallly, but in most cases better. As you know, I went back to gas from two-wheel EV life. One day I may return. What fits one's life in the stage you're in is what's right for everyone.
Interesting. I live on a much smaller island than North Island and yeah, that been there already feeling is something that surely can happen. I suppose I look at it as enjoyable to go back and ride the roads I’ve already explored. Kinda like revisiting an old friend or something. Always something new to see out there if u look. While I was there in NZ a few weeks ago we took a gorgeous drive down from Kerikeri to Maungaraho Rock on rt 15 above Auckland. Cutting down valleys on tight, twisty roads. Looked like woulda been super fun on a bike. Some bikers passed us in the opposite direction, dropping knees in the corners, looked awesome (on a dry day)😊
Yes!! I know that road! Man it's so fun up there. I wish we had more fun roads around Wellington, but it would still just be a weekend toy for when the weather is nice. We can't really justify keeping it, so it's time for someone else to have fun on it.
@@NewZeroland understandable. I do like the idea of renting different bikes depending on what u guys r going to do. Can be fun trying new bikes. Good luck on the sale. It’s a beaut! I’d def check it out if I lived there. U guys have the bike I’ve been eyeing for a few years now.
It's sad to see but it does make sense dude, is Jen going to get something to replace it? A small putt-putt or pure track bike? Or maybe she will just nick yours, when your working inside the Energicar 😁
There's a great deal of environmental impact on the manufacturing of the components of an EV, specially batteries. The way to offset that is by using the bike to replace an ICE vehicle, thus reducing emissions for an overall benefit. If you just use the bike occasionally, and drive your car instead, your carbon footprint sees no improvement. You made the right decision.
Good luck with the sale. I am sure Jen and you will have ither adventures and probably other bikes. I'm close to the 20k on my bike, but in miles. I can't think of a better bike for my needs (commuting), and my bike is just like Jen's, just in the faster blue color. 😁
Hello, is it possible to derestrict Ribelle to have a higher top speed like the one that Stefano Mesa was racing? I think he was able to get close to 170 mph on the track. Not that I would need it personally but just wondering.
That is a lot of weight to tippy toe. And if your on your toes and go over a bump you usually float which is hard at 0 kph. I feel her pain…. very personally. 😆 65 inches or 165 cm is a rough height to be if you like more bikes than just choppers or mini bikes. Add into that every one being built different, then some people that height have longer torsos which means shorter legs. I have a friend who is 71 inches and has shorter legs than me. Honda did apply for the electric Grom patten last I heard so maybe she can have a flat foot electric motorcycle some day without going custom.
Dude an electric Grom would be the coolest!! And yep, Jenn's torso is the same length as mine but her legs are shorter. Most bikes are too tall for her. The R3 was perfect, and 100kg lighter so it was way easier to handle. Just not enough power 😂 She loved her Energica.. it was just a bit tough to maneuver around.
Maybe when I retire from the military and get my engineering degree I’ll have to go into business with someone and make motorcycles for short people. Short Arch! For riders with less leg.
I went into this in a previous video, but to sum up.. they aren't prepared to put out battery fires. Even though fires are really rare, they want to write up new regulations before allowing EVs back on race tracks. The only bummer is that it'll take a minimum of 18 months to do it.
That's a cool idea, and we WERE thinking about running a little road trip tourism business, but the insurance for that would be tricky and expensive. Also her bike is so pristine that we wouldn't want to damage it.
You know I had to sell mine and it was an old version and it hurts, so your list is bigger. I'll not lie, e-foil it's amazing nothing I have done here even closer to it. So the sell was worthy

Times change - all is well. I'm really happy to live in the middle of Europe, where I can buy and sell almost ANY bike 🏍 Kind regards and good luck!

Any updates about this? I may wish to go to NZ after Japan. I’d love to meet and see your Energica(s) ! 🙂
I know more energica owners in NZ than I do in the US
HAHA that is wild 😂 I think there are 7 of us now!
