Thats partly because this is on jtbc while the kdramas on the major 3 broadcasting stations (sbs, kbs, mbc) are much more conservative , you'll see more intimate romance scenes as well as more violent scenes on jtbc and sometimes tvn dramas because of less age and graphic restrictions. To be very honest. It depends on who's watching this. I have found out most people watching k-dramas would love the portrayal shown here since its more sensual and that suits their tastes. The western scenes are too explicit or hardcore for them. Like for me personally, I think these scenes are literally pg13 and I feel nothing. I prefer the western ones. Hence it's all on how you prefer to watch these types of scenes.

See the difference when the director is female. The gaze from which such shots are taken is so essential. Yes this is from Nabis perspective. But even the other scenes that have palpable tension are shot with a taste that feel non predatory. Especially episode 2. The discomfort and resigned face of the women at the bar. The I want to stop you but I can’t because I’ll be branded sensitive. Female gaze is superior. That’s on proof.
I don’t know if it’s superior or if it’s something that is females will enjoy more. This drama is refreshing and somehow lets us vicariously engage ourselves. But I don’t think same will hold true if a man watches it.

~ Real(2017) - The lead is from It's okay not to be Okay/ Moon embracing the sun... and Sulli from f(X). - I watched this before her passing and I get so sad thinking about it but she was an amazing actress. I'm a veteran kdrama fan and after a long time watching cliche kdramas since I get bored sometimes, I decided to watch indie korean movies which have a lot of sexual scenes. I really appreciate putting love scenes in romantic dramas because it is more realistic and symbolizes ART. Of course, they have to put Rated 18 for adults only. It is hard to find actors and actresses to do love scenes since it can affect their image. However, people nowadays are open minded and appreciate good acting skills. Kudos to Han So hee and Song Kang ❤️
