I don't know how this manages to be but I now notice the distinct playing styles and how they differ betwenn all the best GMs. NN, Carlsen, Kasparov, Tal, Bobby Fischer and Max Lange all have a way of playing that seems to have a trademark here and there. Tal is the most obvious with his great sacrifices but I personally find Alekhine is my favourite. Can't put my finger on it but I think it's because I find it easy to emulate his methods.
The f5 move is sharp as it is supported by the e pawn and rook. The g5 move leaves the K far behind, naked and assigns the Q a lowly guard duty...against Alekhine, suicidal.
Well, I think that Black's main problem was not developing all of its pieces. Also, those fancy pawn moves certainly didn't help, and they just weakened the area around the King.
Maroczy was stronger about 15 or 20 years earlier. He was born in 1870. Maybe age had slowed him down or weakened his judgment. Of course Alekhine made a lot of strong players look weak.
maybe finesse was the wrong word, maybe he lacks "flair".. if you notice most of these games about AA being posted was played against weaker players. is it because theres not many strong players during his time?
I've got all of Alekhines most memorable matches on my chess app. He loses his fair share of matches but he never gets pulverized. More often than not he resigns when it comes down to about 7 or 8 pieces left on the board and the opposition has a passed pawn.
Karlsbad is german name of beautiful spa in czech republic :) i love your lectures :)
A classic reaction in the center in the face of an unsound wing attack. Some principles prove their worth at every opportunity.
I did pause the video and for the first time I guessed the "killer move" correctly: Qc7! Thanks Mato, your videos are brilliant.
3:31 "Did you find this brilliant queen move?"
"This is not what Alekhine played and this is not a brilliant move."
Absolutely savage.
Amazing video as always mister mato , you are da best

You are the best!
PS: It would be awesome to see more games from Carlsen :)
I love how Mato tells a story of the game...
Thanks for posting!!
You must take your opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5, and the path leading out is only wide enough for one.
-Mikhail Tal (Misha)
the queen move was beautiful
Thanks Mato...:)
Great Game...

Mato ! You choose good games
It also make me see that I am a great player. Just like Maroczy.......haha
Looks like Marocsy got himself in a bind.
Get out
.....I don't get it
Look up 'Maroczy bind' two pawn on the fourth rank with one file between then, with a double grip on the square in front middle of them.
Can you do one of Alekhine's drunk games?
Don't forget to post on Rumble, brother.
mato jelic thx again
Just a bit correction: Karlsbad is not in Germany, but in the Czech Republic :)
Anyways, awesome video, keep up your great work :)
best move ever. thanks mato
really, best move EVER?
+Gar Zz yes definetly. i played that move in my last game and i won..
Mato... We wanna see Alekhine vs Tal game...PLz its a request...
They are from different generations my dear so i don't think they ever met.
This is how I lose my games after being on a winning streak.. I am guilty of this too.
I would love to see Alehkine vs Keres
From two different times
Post more of BOBBY FISCHER's games
Yay i guessed the move right!
I guessed 19. Qc7 ... But not the rest of the line :(
Well, I think that Black's main problem was not developing all of its pieces. Also, those fancy pawn moves certainly didn't help, and they just weakened the area around the King.
marotzy resigned at the right moment
But instead of g5, black could have been Nf6

likey
I'm guessing Maroczy just couldn't be arsed that day.
Karlsbad in Germany/Bohemia
is it just me or does alekhine maneuvers takes more moves than the other great GMs?
He doesn't impress me too much. He lacks finesse.
lolol
Saying AA lacked finesse is like saying Hitler lacked aggression.
he was trolling

today video uploaded early
How about posting a game where Alekhine gets pulverized.

Alekhine blows him away. Really a humiliating loss for Maroczy.
tehe computer have no chance against alekine if him alive today
Aliojin vs the hungarian Maroczy
Maroczy was in a bind.
looks like the beginner in this game
Give Alekhine one tempo and die...
