For the center console, I took mine apart completely and glued a strip of bicycle innertube onto the plastic frame where the hinge should be. It's not quite as tight as the stock hinge, but I honestly don't really notice it being a problem and it's lasted about 10 years at this point. If you don't have an innertube, you could probably use a strong fabric like ripstop. Definitely recommend considering how quick and easy it was.
