He’s so well-spoken. You can learn a ton from just watching great artists work while they explain stuff to you. But when they are actually good at teaching? Galaxy brain.
I love the balance Marco struck between capturing what he saw in the photo and understanding what would create an interesting design. The decisions he made about what shadows, details, shape relationships and even what to straight up invent might seem random at first but as you watch his process and look back and forth between the photograph and the painting you begin to recognize what is 'painterly' and what is representative. A fascinating demonstration. Also, something very satisfying about the little box cars.
If any of you appreciate Marco's teaching, I highly recommend his book Creativity and the Campfire, available on his website. I bought the audiobook version and have listened to it while out on my morning walks many times. I feel Marco is such a good teacher because he has properly thought through everything and reflected on his own experiences of learning (the hallmark of a great teacher). His book is an excellent culmination of that.
Important point about real life v a photo. We see the world like a 50mm lens. Most cameras these days have a wide angle lens. This means any painting you do from a photo is going to look like the squashed perspective of that photo…unless you alter the focal length of the lens to match what the eye sees. Also, if you want true color..alter the color settings to match what ypu see
Marcobucci had always been fun to learn from. The way he teaches reeks such enthusiasm and knowledge which makes me feel very inspired! Thank you Proko for sharing another fun video!
Cracking up "I think that's cobalt...?" Thanks for the amazing demo and the encouragement to not be too precious and fidgety when working outside. I'm verrrrry new to plein air painting. Don't do it very much because it's just so off-putting not having all my studio supplies right there with me. Don't get me started on the ever-changing light to contend with.
Lots of good bits to pull from your demonstration. Warm vs cool is something that I have heard Zbukvic mention in his videos. It never really sunk in till now.
Found you back in january 2016, amazing how far your channel has go until today. Congratz to you and thanks to Marco. I loved the final result. I would really love a similar result of the same drawing made by you or him but in digital! That would encourage people try to paint in that style even if they can't spend a lot of money buying the paints/colors.
Marco's has a ton of examples of him working traditionally and digitally, even comparing the two mediums over on his channel! He's linked in the description of the video, if you're interested. Thanks for watching!
see thats my problem when I plaine aire paint. I don't want to be mean to people i just want to paint and focus on the work. I even go way out in a field if i have to then some human comes along and keeps talking and talking. I should put a jar out there and start charging idk 🤷🏽♀️ lol You tell me lol but ok ill grab the watercolors. I'm going out to the field today anyways i love Marco Bucci's tips thanks man 👍
Thank you for the video ❤ Marco told about many things I have been thinking lately and learned about warm shadow as well... does Marco lives in Barcelona? As i do too, hopefully will meet him one day here and will be that annoying person that comes up to you while you are painting 😁
Those are pictures from his social media. I don't believe the process of them is recorded anywhere. But you can find him online under the name @bucciblog
Now, your upload schedule is becoming a little unsettling. /pos Figure drawing teacher says we'll start focusing on heads the next weeks; Proko uploads a head video. We start using watercolors with the other teacher; boom, Proko uploads this one xD
Is the thumbnail click bait?!! Is what he painted in the video not good enough for a thumbnail that you have to bait people with some of his better works?
Not clickbait. Those are what other works he's done with the same techniques. We very much like what he made in that final piece. But it's a tall composition, where a thumbnail is inherently wide. We decided to do what you see in the thumbnail. It's not that deep.
If you enjoyed learning from Marco Bucci check out his courses on Proko - www.proko.com/@marcobucci/courses
Always a pleasure to hang at the Proko booth!
Also, apologies for yelling into the mic - the show floor is louder than it sounds in this video 😂
Thanks for taking the time to demo!
It's so freaking loud in there lol
Thanks for making the effort to be heard, and not getting lost in your thoughts and just mumbling in front of everybody 😆
I really appreciate that shirt Marco has on
I need to get one of those for myself, it's so good!

We love Marco too!
Remeber guys, he started his art journey at age 19. Meaning you still can do it even at age 30 or maybe 50!
Absolutely!
Hell I only started mine when I was about 25. If you're open to learning new things it's a lovely path to be on

Marco is an amazing teacher. Extremely knowledgeable and just seems genuinely excited to share his craft.
10:36 Marco is such a good painter he can paint on air now.
Marco Bucci is THE colourist for me. He's like a contemporary Monet, and I feel lucky for being her coetaneous ❤

Marco Bucci is sacred. Protect him at all costs!
Marco Bucci is so good at teaching, it's a pleasure to listen to him!
so wholesome to see Marco here 🥰 learned a lot from him!
His watercolor palette looks like a really good watercolor painting

Great point thanks
Marco is one of the best teachers in the industry.

Very good 👍 . Marco kept things interesting and has a skilled way of explaining techniques and understanding. It just makes sense!
I like what you said about painting at the scene. The final is loose and fresh.
the tips for introverts are fire😊
this is priceless. Once again the best value per second u get in a channel!!!
Thank you!
We love our Marco Bucci, don't we folks!
Love the color in Marco’s painting 💕💕💕Love his passion on painting 👏👏👏

Simple yet genius when it comes to watercolor
We love Marco Bucci!! 🎨
This was so fun and informative to watch!! Hard to find exciting and good teachers. Thank you!
Wow, this guy is amazing and I love the way he presents
Marco's the best!

WOW
blew my mind. taking a few minutes to digest all that.
Well done

Real life has no obligation to be a composition. 👌🏻😊
Multumesc frumos ☺️💓🌸💮🌺🌷🌈
Its nice to see him at proko time to time

I didn’t know James Gurney had plans for his easel on his website, thank you for that :)
Thanks for the great tips ! Glad this came up in my feed.
For anyone wondering, this painting and photo are from Barcelona.
Yep! He mentioned that at 11:17 and a little of how he had to change his process working in the weather there.
What a good video
This is a cool approach.
If anyone is interested, there is also an entire class by Nathan Fowkes that goes in depth into this style of plein air.
This was so fun
"think of this like a photoshop brush" lol
brilliant video
When is rinotuna going to be on proko?

awesome- btw a watercolor paints mixed with gouache creating a gouache
I love the Bucc
Does anyone know what brand of water colour set this is? :)
The actual plastic palette looks a like Daler Rowney one, which seems surprising, but theirs have the same vertical indents each end 🤷♀️
Thank you for the video ❤ Marco told about many things I have been thinking lately and learned about warm shadow as well... does Marco lives in Barcelona? As i do too, hopefully will meet him one day here and will be that annoying person that comes up to you while you are painting 😁
Marco doesn't live in Barcelona. But maybe you'll catch him there next time he visits!
21:20 nah i would stop & rethink life 😭
I too, wish to purpliefy things.
How do you talk and teach during a flow state of mind?
May I know where I can watch how he paints the thumbnail?
