Hey Jason, holy smokes man what a fantastic video you've made here. You're an incredible teacher and player, and this has got to be the best video about the many practical uses of the circle of fifths out there. Please, keep doing what you do! More videos like this, oriented toward composition would be amazing. Thanks for doing what you do, man.
Wow.. so well explained. Thank you Jason! For a musician to help others like this means Jason loves music and his talent is screaming to be expressed by teaching others. Thank you Jason!!!!! ❤️
Crisp & Clear. Awesome tutorial. Even the Math teacher cannot explain so well about the circle musically like you. You have out beated others especially in circle of fifth tutorial. Worth watching. Doubled cheers.
A very different and enlightening look at the circle. Btw I have never seen anyone else bring in geometry to music!! But that changes the game so now I am a big fan of this. Cannot thank you or respect you enough for sharing your knowledge!!
After watching tons of tutorial from others, this video actually shows how to apply the Circle of 5th in practical application. It just answered many questions I have had for a long time. Thanks so much!
AMAZING lecture presentation, Zac!!! There are all kinds of ways to use the Circle of Fifths! And to think that I only used to use it for determining key signatures!
Thank you very much !, ...you're a great Teacher anywhere !!....ITS an honor to learn with masters like you ! , hope support you soon ...Best regards from Monterrey, México !!
Good afternoon sir I play guitar and I was searching circle of filth explanation since long ago but here I got the good explanation please never stop uploading videos you r à good teacher... You know what kind of videos students wants and need❣️🍀
Jason, you’re awesome man! Very talented and a great teacher. Thank you very much for your simplistic approach to teaching. You helped me get past a plateau today.

*Congratulations Fastest Drawing Ever !* "Exciting" video = even pre-recorded ! THANK YOU = I'll be watching this video as many times as it takes to commit it to memory... Great Job on the video lesson & great advice !
Couple more things I am sure Jason would’ve covered had he more time. The square (or diamond) shape creates a diminished 7th. Also, a isosceles triangle (for example, C E Ab) creates an augmented triad. Lastly, if you place a major third after each note (and put them in lower case) you have everything you need to build a ton of chords. Hard to explain in words, but I’ll try. Start from an upper case letter and go clockwise, you get: Three in a row: Major triad Fourth is the major 7 Fifth is the 9 Sixth is the 11 Seven is the 13 Start from a lower case letter, and: Three is a minor triad Fourth is a minor 7 Fifth is the 9 Sixth is the 11 Seven is the 13
best lesson! all doubts clarified..easy to memorise the scales now. no one explained it like you do..!Thank you. And also it has ended so much of the confusion in my head. i was wondering are there any circle of sevenths and elevenths..now when you find major sevenths or minor sevenths in it already.. what more you need! and again it looks like a game now..mapping sort of thing.

Hi Jason, this is referring to timestamp around 5:55 to 6:03 , demonstration of going up clockwise in 5ths. C to G was up a fifth and the demonstration on keyboard matches correctly. But G went down a 4th below to D, not up a 5th to the D above. Same for A to E, and E to B, etc. were demonstrated as a 4th down. Technically this was an inversion of a 5th.
@@nathanielschool Hi Jason, you're most welcome. Glad to be of use and able to clarify. 😊 Actually, I learnt it from your own numerous music theory videos. Many thanks to your teachings! Really grateful.

The mirror of 5ths/4ths decoding the circle after 300+ years and its universal mnemonic device is an alternative to the circle of 5ths for those who will find the latter a bit hard to memorize.
Merci beaucoup for this. I'm like a 65 year old baby wearing diapers with this music language. But you've helped me with going beyond goo-goo ga-ga. But goo-goo ga-ga should be part of the musical vocabulary, n'est-ce pas? You really have a great way of explaining things.
Am I correct in counting five intervals up on each degree (note) of the relevant scale to achieve the fifths ie B to F#?…..and up four intervals on each degree (note) to achieve fourths…ie Bb to Eb? This seems to be spot on! I am a beginner and am trying to understand the logic of the Circle to the keys etc.
Yes! But 7 chromatic steps up will give you the perfect 5th. Perhaps you can memorize and practice the Circle of Fifths as both the fifths and fourths can be found one step away from the root either clockwize or counter clockwize

How important is using the correct fingering for smoother playing as you move from cord to cord using different inversions? Should we use the same fingerings as you do in this video?
Hi sir - this video is an eye opener to say the least.... I ordered a customised photoframe of this circle now and keep it on top of my piano. However, one thing which I noticed - I was trying to look at this circle from a note standpoint and then arrive at a formula for a combination of notes to form regular triads from the circle itself- thats when i noticed that to form any major chord, we need the starting note, the 2nd note and the 5th note going in a clockwise direction. Is this a coincidence or somehow also related to the fact that, the ratio of frequencies of a perfect fifth and a starting note is 3:2 (2+3=5)? sorry again for the long text but cannot get it out of my head
