Used to be an atheist because of fake christians who think everyone is wrong if they don't believe in God, but I found love in God and nothing can change that. Matty is a Christian and he can sing about whatever he feels like. If you don't agree, then don't listen, but know that you're missing out on a talented individual. I think his solo project was meant to represent his relationship with God more then he does with Memphis May fire. I love both and I love God.

For all of you who rant on about "religion shouldn't be brought into music," Matty has freedom to do whatever he wants and even if you aren't Christian, you should respect the positive message in this song. For all of the atheists who continue to go off about it, bands like Bring Me The Horizon (which I love) use atheistic meaning in their music like the song The House of Wolves. So why can't Matty express his religious views, not even forcing it? I am Christian and I totally agree with his message, but even if you don't, no need to hate

I love that matty is showing this side of him. Yes the heavy tunes and screaming is sick, but it's nice to hear something refreshing. And I'm not a believer, but the way matty carries himself and doesn't force his belief is what makes me like this. He's just happy with his own faith. Dig the track. Matty is life.

I'm not religious in the slightest but there isn't a doubt I will buy this album. It's not always about the lyrics. It's about the good music and the compassion. You just gotta appreciate the man staying true to himself for doing this and I enjoyed it despite that I can't relate to it. It just sounds so amazing. I wish people were more open minded.
This song gives me chills, I'm agnostic but I feel like God is answering my prayers after so many years of self-hate and feeling like a nobody. My life has been a little better for a few months now.

Hey Nicole, I get your stance. I only lasted as a Christian for a little while. After that I just felt condemned, unloved, uncared for. This is beginning to change. I am learning to accept that God loves me, shown perfectly in the person of Jesus. Self-hatred is a difficult thing to overcome, I'm still learning, but know that you are worth so much. You are loved. You are not nobody. The creator of the universe loves you, and wants you with him.

Inspirational see that a musician as talented as Matty profess how great our God is. (and yes the song is obviously not about his relationship with his daughter, but his relationship with GOD). This song should inspire all Christians to use the gifts God gave us to better his kingdom, even if just one person is inspired to pray to God and ask Him to come into their heart it was worth it. AWESOME to see so many Christians stand up for what they believe in. Its not easy in this day and age. Jesus loves you, and always will.

For everyone saying that they don't like the lyrics in this song, congrats to you. Because of your comment, Matty is going to write songs about exactly what you want. After all, the world revolves around you. Just let him do what he wants, and if he wants to express his faith, then so be it. I, being a Christian, love this song, and even if you don't agree with his standpoint and beliefs, then there's nothing wrong with that. Just don't express that he's "wrong" because nobody is wrong; it's just his beliefs. That's like saying that someone is wrong about what food is good because they like chicken and not pizza. Plus, the lyrics are not brainwashed, due to the fact that he knows exactly what he's writing about and why. If anything, the ignorant ones are those who are commenting bashing Christianity. Matty doesn't say that atheists are wrong, so why should they say that he's wrong? Thank you.

Its awesome that he isnt affraid to share his religious beliefs with his entire fanbase and the rest of the rock community. Dont be affraid to express yourself and what you believe. Honestly I love this song and I love that Matty is as big into Christ as some of us are. I could care less what any of you think but this song is amazing.
I'm just happy Matty is being forward about his faith. It really encourages me to do the same. I mean, he has a lot more to lose, but he's gonna be true to his love and his God anyway. Thanks Matty for reminding us to not be afraid of what the world thinks.

I was a Christian all my life but eventually got to a point where I didn't know what was right and stopped believing for a while and I hated to hear things about God or Christianity. I was sitting in church and decided to try one more time to pray to God and He immediately answered my prayers through someone who came up to me out of no where and told me how much God loves me no matter what, he told me exactly what I needed to hear from Him. It wasn't random, I know that God was speaking to me there after I thought He left me for so long. The lyrics to this song are very similar to what I heard, this song is what I needed for a long time.
I'm not religious but if this is what Matty believes in, we should respect that! And this song is beautiful!

God wants us to bring the hopeless to him, so he can heal them. And Matty can easily do this through his music, because it's a talent God has given him. Also, I've always asked, what do you have to lose by giving your heart to God? I'd rather live a life believing in God and finding out he doesn't exist, over not believing in God and finding out that he does. I challenge you all to pray just once and truly ask God to come into your heart and to take all your pains and struggles away. Like I said, what do you have to lose? If you decide not to, I will still love you, and won't think any different of you. It's not our duty to judge, but to be a friend to others, and to love everyone regardless of their beliefs.

I'm not religious myself and not crazy about the Christian lyrics but I can respect a good song. Also in my opinion, this is much better than most Christian songs because I find most Christian lyrics to be quite repetitive and too plain but this is well written with a beautiful sound. I might go to church more if they played more stuff like this.
some churches do, not many but they are out there. the thing is that lyrically many churches for worship sing more "to" God then this being "from" God perspective. But if you are considering it you should definitely go.
Yeah what Chris said. I went to this Christian camp at the beach for a week and the music was, yes more to God, but it's not bad. It's catchy. The experience was unbelievable. Singing, jumping around. And before services would start, they had music playing it could range from like, hip-hop style Christian music to rock like. This song is definitely something powerful. I everything works out for you whether you go to church or not.
see im christian but I have the same opinion you do I think most christian music is repetitive an they only reach out to people who are already christians whereas this guy and his band they make incredibly awesome lyrics an they bring me closer to god more than any christian band has such as skillet or hawk nelson even though theyre good bands too and they also reach out to other people who arent christians who go through so much shit in life and thats honestly why I have so much respect for matty mullins.

I'm experiencing God working wonders in my life right now. There were so many people in this world that I have clinged on to, and then one day I went to God and said "make me a better person for you".
Never have I been so happy losing people in my life and gaining others who can lead me to Christ again. Pray for me as I embark on my next trial, I'm loosing all the people that have meant so much to me but weren't any one bit of good in my life. God bless you all.

Anybody that knows Matty Mullins knows that he is a Christian man and has an intense love for God. The reason he put together this album was to write and perform songs that he didn't think the band should have to perform. Either due to conflicting interests, that he may have wanted to do them himself, or whatever the case may be. Yes, this song IS about God. Matty is placing this song in God's point of view. Hence, "I created you piece by piece, made you in my own image perfectly" or how about, "I loved you before you were born"? Actually listen to this song. You don't need to be Christian to know that this is obviously a song Matty put together to express his love of and for God. It's pretty plain to see. I enjoy this song regardless. I'm not Christian, but I enjoy his lyrics, his love for his profession, his voice and what he does for the music industry. All of you bashing on him or his music or his belief need to grow up and quit being judgemental. If you didn't like this song, you shouldn't have listened to it. Is there really ever a point to write nasty comments towards somebody because their belief is not your own? It's ridiculous and this is why the world is how it is. Because of people being so blind and stuck in their own opinion that they won't give another one a chance or even just let someone else's be heard. Everyone has their own opinion, belief, religion, etc. Let people be who they are without making them hurt and feel like crap about who they are or what they like.

It’s God and His love for His people, “I paid the price you could never afford” is Jesus paying the price of sin on the cross so that we could be with God. “I created you piece by piece”, God creates us piece by piece and made us in His own image. Really great song and beautiful reflection of God’s word.

I feel his voice is much greater through his acoustics and he really has a great melodic vocal pattern that really helps the acoustic sound soar

Jesus is for all of us, so stop questioning about this music. Every person have their own style to praising Jesus. And i trully believe that Jesus will always listening your prays and praises in every genre you play as long it is about Him. Because everytime we praise him, our praises will be the sweetest song to His ear.

I don't know why everyone is getting so up in arms about this. What did you expect him to write/sing about? Unconditional had underlying themes of Christianity all throughout it. And it's clear that Matty was wanting to move in that direction. No one sat you down and forced you to listen to this, or comment the hateful things that you wrote. If you don't like it, move on. You'll find something you like more. If you are about "not hating anyone" (gays, other religions or lack thereof, races, etc.) then you shouldn't be hating on Matty for writing this kind of music. It was his choice. And if you are going to spread hate because of what he writes then you are no better than the "fake Christians" that go around belittling people like you. Personally, I am a Christian and I don't hate anyone. In fact, I support gay marriage and equality for everyone. I was raised that we are all supposed to love one another, no matter what anyone else believes or chooses to do. Anyway, back to the music; while I actually don't normally like praise and worship songs, I do like this. I loved the heavier stuff that MMF as a group put out but this is a nice change. Just hoping that everyone will figure out that hating each other and being concerned with what other people do is not the answer. Have respect for all music, too. There are people behind that music.

I can't even say how happy I am to hear this song. For a while now It's been so many people saying they want "equality" and then they turn around and bash people for their beliefs. These lyrics bash no one, make fun of no one. And simply state God's love for us. That's it.

If he gets flack but doesn’t care about it, then I shouldn’t care if I get flack. As an atheist, I'd like to say that I 100% respect who you are and what you do Matty. As a fan of MMF since the days of The Hollow, it's been a crazy journey to see you guys blow up like you have, and all because you guys believed in yourselves and the different messages you personally wanted to share. You're no different on this solo project, which is no surprise. And that's why I've pre-ordered, because I admire your craft and your ability to stand up for what you believe in.

Every time I hear this song I burst into tears. Because when I was born, I had some complications and I've felt different my entire life because people have made fun of me for it my whole life and it made me so self conscience that I missed out on a bunch of stuff. I had actually gotten to the point of considering suicide. I finally opened up to my brother about how this had been bothering me, and he's now helping me work through it and things are getting better now. But the same day I opened up to my brother, I actually listened to this song and it has made such an impact on my life. Thank you Mattie! God bless!

As an atheist, these lyrics mean nothing to me. That being said, I didnt expect this from Matty and Im not sure how I feel about this. I still listen to the Hollow more than anything, not saying I dont enjoy their last two album, but I wish they would go back to that southern heavy feel. Judging off of this single release, I fear that MMF is slowly dying in my heart in favor of dropping religious fan girl panties. Ill miss you MMF :,(

Guys, whether you're religious or not it sounds to me that Matty is super stoked to produce this album for us. He said that is his side of music he's never been able to get out through MMF. It's his soul in a way. And yes he is a Christian but that doesn't change a thing to me. I'll always be a fan to the end. I'm ecstatic this song was more of a religious one. There are so many people that need to have a rock in their life, and religion can be one of them. Even if it's not for you, it may be for someone else. That's all I'm saying. I envy all the people who have faith. I wish i could believe and have a light in the darkness. Thinking that there is nothing after this life makes me feel hopeless. Knowing that people who suffer in this life won't get the good things they deserve. I want to believe. I've tried to believe. I just can't.
On another note. I will stand with the Christians, Jews, Muslims and whatever people have faith in there religion. I will never bash anyone. You have a right to believe what you want. The second anyone bashes religion i will be there to back up the person being bashed.

Matty is very religious, and loves God. His religion is very important to him. All of his tattoos are about his faith. He made this single because there were things he wanted to do aside from MMF, which is write about God and faith (because not all MMF fans are Christians). It's not hurting anything. It's beeautiful and warming. You can translate the song however you like (like other alternative Christian artists like Red and We As Human), but the true source of inspiration is faith. They keep it unspecific so you can make it relate to whatever you want to, but if you listen to the words "I created you piece by piece" and even "I loved you before you were born", etc, its clear he is speaking about God :)
So I am in love with this song. Sometimes in this world of sin and death I forget that I'm not the only one that loves God. I love songs that remind me of that.

There is a ton of bad things in this world. God left us to our devices, being human and a Christian means going through suffering and trials in our lives. Earth and life is not paradise, life after earth is paradise. But God is there for us while here on earth if you go to him and allow him to be.

I love how people are just hating this song because of something slightly religious at the beginning. Like what the hell? Do you guys really hate ANYTHING that could even be SLIGHTLY religious. Seriously, calm yourselves, its just a song, no need to hate Matty.
Everyone relates their own memories or events to his music so how about instead of arguing about religion and god we all just listen to the song and interpret it in our own way? And i'm not Christian but i'm not gonna bash someone over what they believe. Everyone just go and mind your own business

Honestly, this song is about his story, his perspective of God to him. So if you dont really agree to the song, at least agree to listen what Matty's story is about, which is through this song. Its okay if you don't wanna accept the lyrics. We all have a different perspective to this song, so just respect each other's views.
I'm really tired of all the bad comments about Matty's lyrics, if you don't like it, then you don't have the obligation to hear it, it's as simple as it sounds. So stop being so immature and close-minded, we all have the right to believe in whatever we want, including someone like Matty or someone like you, so please, for music's sake stop being so hateful.

This song is so amazing , I am so proud of Matty. And , in my opinion, he went solo maybe because he didn't wanted for all MMF'S fans to react like you reacted to this song. This album is for all MMF's christian fans,and not only, it's awesome and if you don't want to listen to his new album , don't. You still have mmf and all their great songs.

Matty has really always had a christian side of him...you saw it in the song the answer a lot on the Unconditional record MMF released I'm looking forward to everything on his self titled record.

I know Matty took into consideration the hate he would get for posting this song. This song is beyond words for me, and I know many others. The comfort and peace it gives me and to others will always trump the negative people who will bash this song. I love this, and I can't wait for the entire album.
You people are ass hats. No need to go bashing Matty for going solo with this album. I admire him for what he has done. If you don't like his solo stuff then don't listen to it. It's that simple. I'm also a Memphis May Fire fan and I also love his solo stuff. He has an amazing voice and has every right to sing about what he loves. I love that he isn't afraid to show that he is a Christian.
