wow, the columbia mall in grand forks used to be THE place to go when travelling from winnipeg. now it's dead because target moved out of the mall. how sad.
I'll never forget when we moved to EGF from a small town and walking into the mall. At age 6, it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen. These commercials still stick in my head!
Yep, when you lived in Manitoba and you wanted to go to 'the states', the first stop was Columbia Mall in North Dakota! If you were really adventurous, you'd go to the mall in Fargo. In the early 90's, there was this cool clothing store for women, but the dressing rooms had no doors! I found that so weird.
I was stationed at the air base from March 1977 to October 1979, so I was there when Columbia Mall opened. My wife and I got over there once or twice, as we lived on 26th Avenue S., so we weren't too far from it.
Our family used to go to this mall back in the 80's and early 90's. I used to buy Nintendo games and junk food we can't get in Canada. I've heard it's a ghost mall now.
I was 6 years old when I lived there. But one thing I remember vividly was often eating at the fantastic Royal Forks buffet there. We would even enter coloring contests (where my mom would do the actual coloring) so we could eat free there. Is it trur this place is closed now? Cuz I always wanted to go back and visit...

so sad to see malls like this go downhill...
So sad to see people seeing malls dying as bad. . .
My family was stationed at the local air base and went to the mall frequently. I still remember when the Target was still attached.

I remember this commercial when we lived there in the early '80's. Just like yesterday.
While not as vibrant as it once was I still love the place.
