    That little seat doesn't look comfy enough for me
    but I don't know anything about Bobbers
    looking forward for more videos good luck with the build guys :-)

    Ok, i commented on the seat at the start of the episode, looks loads better now, but definitely needs to be lower with smaller shocks

    IMO, i'd say the seat in a little too curved, which is why it is ending up looking like there is a huge gap under it, i'd also lower it by using shorter springs, too. Looking to build a bobber from a Virago 125 so absolutely loving all the help you guys are giving me! Keep it up

    Just come across these and wondered where the final episodes are to see the progress and finished bobber.

    If you trim off those 2" of frame rails pointlessly sticking out behind the saddle, then I'll say it's good enough.
    The stance isn't right, though. I'll still say slam the front 1.5-2". It's very easy to do, and reversible, if you want.
    On Yer Bike has a very useful video on fork lowering.

    Seat needs to go back more

      I agree. They'd both look comfier if the seat was further back.
      It's the first thing I'll do when I win 😂

      @@martinsutherland9151 Defo move the seat further back. It will improve everything, the way it feels and looks!

    • @thefreedomguyuk
      @thefreedomguyuk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah...but then they'll have to move the tank back as well. And as apparently they are not going lower, never mind about the seat position. It's as good as it gets.
      Personally, I would have moved the swinger shock brackets back, to get the seat closer to the wheel. Or, I'd use that set of spanking new 9.5" red/black short shocks i took delivery of recently...

      @@thefreedomguyuk in fairness the title of the series is Budget Bobber Build...
      They're doing the kind of changes any old fool with a grinder and a spanner could do in their shed 😂

    • @thefreedomguyuk
      @thefreedomguyuk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@martinsutherland9151 I fully agree. That's what I meant when saying moving the seat further back would lead to moving the mounting points for the tank as well. It would overcomplicate the build.
      The boys are competent to move the shock brackets, and they have the tools to do it. Alternatively, a set of ultrashort snazzy-looking shocks does fall within the budget category. The set I've got on my shelf is made from high-tensile Chinesium, set me back £26 incl. delivery.

    Nice build. Be nice to have a run down of costs at the end of the build be interested to know how much it all cost.

    Cool intro questions are Chinese m bike frames strong enough for off and on road use and the welding ok ect

    I recon the support for the rear mudguard would look better if made from round bar (not flat). Shame it needs further support though, as it looks great and it is.

      Peanuts aren't really bobber, they are more over in chopper country.
      And peanuts aren't budget friendly...

    I love you guys but you have some odd concepts of bike style. You build a hybridized bike called a café/scrambler, which never existed as a blend, and you are proud as punch of your creation. Then you build a "bobber", a bike originally made from stolen mixed and patched together parts, and you have a definite recipe of what it must be and go to a parts supplier for "bobber parts". The bobber was responsible for many of our motorcycle theft, salvage, and rebuilding laws over here. A bobber would have been made from a BSA frame with a Royal Enfield tank and Norton bars and the seat from a surplus Meteor. There were no rules for a bobber! If you are building a British "bobber the pegs will be back a bit, if you are building an American "bobber" the pegs will be as far forward as possible and the floor boards are optional. Over here the "bobber" evolved into the "chopper" with the addition of the extended front forks and rake, made mostly from the war surplus Harleys.

      We do like to be different and go with what takes us.

    • @TOTk1980
      @TOTk1980 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm going with this definition, and then not reading the bits that I'm not bothered about.
      A bobber, originally called a 'bob-job' from the 1930s through 1990s, is a style of custom motorcycle. The typical construction includes stripping excess bodywork from a motorcycle; removing the front fender, and shortening the rear fender, which is "bobbed", and all superfluous parts removed to reduce weight.
      If you then add in what Mark has in his head plus the comments we choose to act upon, then we will have Bob, our take on a bobber.
