My now ex said something like that after I'd already over a period of time tried expressing things to him and telling him I'd been feeling alone etc. I had found a text thread through an app and confronted him. He went on to say "I had to cause I've been feeling alone" yadda yadda pretty much what I told him and he said he "went live" trying to tell people. 😒😝
That was my ex husband. I had photographic proof and he told me to my face it wasn’t him. Lol I said ok shaggy.

@@teri2466 Mostly there are two reasons: one is that they like the safety of a secure relationship, often they benefit financially. The second reason is that they like to feel clever, cheaters like the game of cheating, the thinking about lies, the tension etc. they like to be superior in some way in the relationship

A friend asked me once what I would do if my ex (then bf) cheated on me. I told her I’d rat him out to his mom, and let her take care of the dirty work. Of course, she raised him right so he never cheated.
My ex-fiance's mom asked him to find some other girl since I know everything now and will hold things against him, when I caught him cheating and told about that to his family. I wish she did something right, like your mom did!

I was married for 20yrs. We had 3 children together. We had a great marriage, great friendship. It all fell apart so quickly, within the span of 6mths, I found out what he'd been up to for years. I asked him to leave, and as I was trying to pick up the pieces of my life friends came telling me how they knew etc. Needless to say I not only lost my husband, but I also let go of a handful of close friends. They were shocked that I ended the friendships, but like I told them, you lied to me daily just as much as he did. Sometimes when I think back to those hard days, I'm often more upset at my friends for not coming forward. I now tell everyone, please just tell your friend. You aren't doing it to "cause drama" etc, you're doing it for the love of your friend. I will forever wish someone had told me yrs before.

Girl same here. We were friends for years before we got together and were married for years. Totalling like 20yrs. Caught him cheating and that was the end. My BF was married to his BF. Well, we all stayed friends by x & I never being there at the same time. Then he started taking the woman he cheated with over there & my BF would blow them both up. I told her it wasn't necessary but she's ride or die. God I love that woman! It caused so much strain in their marriage they almost got divorced. I ended up removing myself from their lives because I didn't think it was fair to them. I'm still friends with both of them but not close close friends like before.

***Addition....... after all the dust settled from dealing with the cheating ex, one very close friend of mine, who had chosen to ignore me and stay friends with my ex. She called one day (about 6mths later) saying she was sorry for believing him. That him and his gf were crazy and she wanted to have our friendship back. I will never forget that moment. I missed her so much, but without hesitation I said "no, I can't restart our friendship ". She got mad, tried to gaslight me. But something in me said "you don't deserve this". I stood my ground, thanked her for the friendship we had, and hung up. It was so hard to do and I cried. But how dare she come back?! Her and I were friends for yrs. I still miss her all these yrs later, but I don't regret my decision. Maybe it was wrong, but it's what I had to do.😢

I'm a guy who was cheated on by my (now) ex-wife. She was chronically depressed and I encouraged her to hang out with her friends. Turns out, one of those friends was a guy she took an interest in. The part that makes my stomach turn even 14+ years later is that we had sex at least once after she started cheating...
I'm in a happier place now, but it was definitely a learning process and a healing process. Best of luck to anybody who goes through similar.

I am 44 believe me when I say trust needs to be earned and also usually dishonest people always from day one tell you who they are - you just don't want to listen. I met my husband in high school, we were best friends for 6yrs before we started dating, dated/lived together for 2yrs. When we hear these horror stories, we are so damn grateful we found each other. I really think it’s sweet when a woman finds out the guy hitting on her is married and then tells the wife. It’s brave and the right thing to do so the wife can consent to being with a man running around or not. Cheating puts the partner in harms way with the possibility of passing an std to them. It’s not fair.

I wish whoever was cheating with my ex told me. I remember some nurse was flirting with my ex husband, ignoring me. In my native culture, we speak nonverballly with our eyes. My ex (Whose not part of my culture) didn't know this. My ex and this nurse had been talking before I walked in the room (I was pregnanton a prenatal visit). The other native lady in the room looked mad. She looked at me, and then directed her eyes to the two. I was confused at the time. But that lady was REALLY flirting with my ex. Flipping her hair around and everything. Well, there were signs he was cheating. First, he told me I wasn't sexually attractive. Then he would welcome conversations with other women all the time. (Even after I gave freaking labor). My last straw was his constant accusations of me cheating.
But he gaslit me so much.
He accused me of cheating so much. I had enough. The last time he accused me with boxing instructor. Yeah he was so suspicious of the mma and boxing dudes, but those dudes ain't my type. I like to be friends with them but have ZERO romantic interest. (Then tend to be callous with no romance.)
So I broke up with him after that accusations. Keep in mind he was accusing me for years. If I brought up it felt like he was cheating on me ( i rarely did this) He would gaslight and blame shift to ne that I'm the one cheating.

Saw a guy in an expensive car near his bosses house, he avoided my gaze and looked worried.
I asked the boss if he'd had a meeting at home, no, he was with a client, ouch, best in the open, he was betrayed by his employee (who had to find another job).
The lying about the birthdate was probably so that he could celebrate his birthday with his real family and have the day free, not get caught by other girls in case they tried to surprise him on his fake bday. Guessing he learned from a past experience

I had never been in a relationship where I hadn’t been cheated on. I got single, stayed single for six years. Sought out therapy, worked on myself, became my own partner and spoiled myself and my kid. Then I met my future husband and realized he was me in male form. He loves me like I’ve never been loved. It’s honestly never too late. But being single can be beautiful too. If you embrace it and allow it to be. I enjoyed being single a lot. But I absolutely am head over heels in love with my future husband. And I can honestly say he is for me as well. I used to wish I could see love under a microscope. To prove that someone, anyone had actually loved me. Including my cheating lying ex husband. But I no longer think that way. Because love is shown. Not said. It’s the actions and the little things that speak volumes that words never could. Be the love you wish to see and love will follow. Be that in your family dynamic, friendships, or lovers. Because you’ll always be seen as the person who delivered the bad news. I knew two of the best friends there ever were. They were soul sisters…until one of them saw the others man out with another woman and told her about it. There was a huge blow up and they’re no longer friends. It sent the girl who told her bf into a tailspin and she’s never been the same since. So no…I’m a crappy friend but I’m not gonna be the bearer of bad news.
I have never been in a relationship where I was NOT cheated on and eventually quit believing I could ever find a man who loved me and only me so I quit looking for love 32 years ago. I am 64 now. I didn't really think I would be alone for 3 decades but when I set the criteria that they have to be honest and true, no one ever fit the bill and I refuse to be one of those women who will settle (anymore). I deserve to be loved as I love. Why put up with less than that. I used to say that if I could find someone who loves me as much as my dog loves me (I am "it" for him) then I would pursue the relationship but my dog is a better partner in life than any man I have ever known. Sad but true.

ETA: I’ve also never been in a relationship I’ve never been cheated on. Until now. I stayed single and true to myself for six years and became my own partner. Then I got real lucky. So it’s never too late honestly, but again, I love this for you. Be happy in your singldome. It can be absolutely beautiful if you embrace it and allow it to be.

Literally just earlier this week matched with a guy on hinge who said he was a resident physician in my city (keep in mind I’m a resident physician too). I hadn’t even had a serious boyfriend and was not hooking up so I told the nurse so when she took me back, explaining that I expected no issues and why. She told me the craziest story. A nurse had come in for HIV testing due to needle stick but the panel runs them all. It came back with all the big bads, including Hepatits C, at the time untreatable. That was how the poor woman found out her husband was cheating.

I once dated a guy when I was 16. We were pretty close, we talked every day and almost saw each other every day as we went to the same cram class. We had a mutual friend who was a closer friend. After several months of happily dating, one fine day, that friend came to me and she told me, "hey, are u guys dating?" I thought she'd known all along so I laughed, thinking it was a joke. She then told me "he asked me out 3 days back, but I think something went on between u guys." I said "yea we've been dating for last 16 months. How can he just say that??" She shrugged and went.
Tbh I already had my suspicions because he seemed emotionally distant. This reaffirmed it. So I decided to confront him. I told our mutual friend that I will ask him about this. When I went to him, HE asked ME to leave his life, because apparently he didn't talk to cheaters. I was utterly confused and at a loss of words. What kind of projection was that? I was very naive back then, so didn't argue much, I just cried, I told him I wasn't doing anything wrong and just left. (I regret it so much)
Fast forward to a few days back. I had received a call from an unknown number. Turns out it was the girl (mutual friend). She ended up dating him and he turned out to be a huge huge douche bag. She called me to apologise as she felt apologetic after that incident. We ended up comparing notes and discovered numerous lies. He cheated on her multiple times, manipulated her and projected.He was and continues to be a jerk, I'm happy I dodged a bullet and now I have learnt an important lesson to grow a spine and stand up for myself
And it’s “I have a special talent-it’s cheating on people that LOVE ME”. A man that does that doesn’t love anyone but himself

YES. Trust your gut but also get to know yourself enough that you learn the difference between a gut instinct and a trauma response because they can both feel the same and real. I know people can sabotage good relationships thinking they are listening to their gut when it’s a trauma response from the hurt they’ve been through before the person they are with currently. At some point you have to be amazed at the effort people put into cheating on , lying to and gaslighting their partner or fiancee . The last OP especially. How do you fake an entire conversation with your co-worker accusing him of impersonating you to cover up your crimes on Bumble . That is a level of pathological lying rarely even seen among cheaters . They as Charlotte put it , need to be sent straight to the garbage bin .
That’s where my ex husband is, the garbage bin. Cheating, gas lighting, lying sob. He then married a mail order bride from the Philippines and after he retired they moved there. Good place for him, many many miles away

Just a reminder for you cheaters out there, there’s absolutely no reason you need to cheat on your partner if you’re lacking something in the relationship. Communication exists and it’s so easy to bring up to them what you feel you’re lacking and you can both then work on the relationship and make sure you’re both receiving and giving what you need to for the relationship to work equally. There’s never a good enough reason or excuse to cheat, and it’s never anyone else’s fault except yours (the cheaters).
This is why I’m scared of being in a relationship. Sometimes there aren’t red flags to go off of. They could be the most perfect thing in your eyes with no complications but the reality is something much different. It’s quite literally getting to the point where I’m scared of being loved altogether. Not by family or friends obviously but in a relationship…I can’t.
If you can't stay loyal, stay single.

My boyfriend had a hard time at the beginning of our relationship because his previous long term girlfriend cheated and lied. It really hurt him. So there were a few times he was sensitive or it took a while to trust I wouldn't hurt him the same way. I tried not to take it personally. Regaining the ability to trust another person and enter a relationship after being hurt so bad takes A LOT of work. It was a little rocky at first but he worked through it and we were able to move forward together. He and I have now happily been together 7years. To anyone who's been hurt, I hope you can heal and find the person in this world that sees the beauty and light in you and respects it. There is hope for better days and there is a special someone out there for you.

Yep, apparently my father cheated on my mom around the time my older brother was born, and they’d been married for a number of years. And my father encouraged her to cheat on her first husband when they met.

As someone who went through this and gave him another chance…just, don’t. You never see that man, (or woman), you fell madly in love with and the other person, (or people), live rent free in your brain, draining every ounce of self confidence you had. It’s just not worth it, no matter how much you love them and how much therapy you go to. 😢
Gosh I hate loyalty tests so much. Not necessarily when cheaters are being caught but just because of the whole idea. The fact that you do something like this behind your partners back not only means that you have trust issues. It also means that your partner cannot trust you. Espessially when it turns out your partner is loyal

Honestly, just get a good therapist that you click with and keep seeing them regularly (once a week, once a month, whatever is appropriate for your needs). It's just good self care/maintenance, but especially if you're nervous about navigating relationships!

When I was in the going on dates phase, I had two that I was going on dates with. I wasn’t telling anyone about the other, and it SERIOUSLY took a mental toll on me juggling the two. Idk how people cheat, and even worse, with more than one person.
My boyfriend and I joke that we don't understand how people cheat. Between our work schedules and just the workings of our day-to-day lives, the idea of having a side-piece just sounds exhausting. We barely have time for ourselves, let alone other partners! Lol
It's a lot easier if they don't have a set mistress or anything, but some people are literally out here having two whole families or 7+ relationships and I'm like 'how the fuck do you afford this, you'd have to be jobless to have the time, and they're not gonna all be paying you money'. But honestly as for the mental toll? It is probably a whole lot easier if you do not care about people and their feelings. Can't be stressed out about A and B if you don't give a damn.

It came out light after she applied foundation on top of the contour, she showed it😂😂😂
It’s under painting!! The foundation washes a lot of it out so I apply it darker/thicker than I would if I were contouring over my foundation. But it makes the overall look appear more subtle when I have to do full glam and this was for an event I was going to be photographed at :)

100% you should tell the wife if the husband used you to cheat. The wife thinks she is in a committed relationship, and isn't thinking about protecting herself from STDs or STIs. But he is sleeping around and could bring one home and pass it on to her. Those are often lifelong issues that could detrimentally affect an innocent bystander. The cheater can and should suffer consequences for bad decisions, but the non-cheating spouse shouldn't have to.

I believe this if it's IN that relationship. It's really hard for those that cheat to stop when they're caught and the person their cheating on stays. However, a cheater can change their ways, but only if THEY want to. You can't make them change.

if you find out a person has a spouse or other relationships tell them (even anonymously). Why? Most committed couples don’t use barrier protection when being intimate, I cannot quantify the number of people I know who have caught STI’s and STD’s from an unfaithful partner.

Can confirm that when men get CAUGHT, like fully caught, they will just drop the act and stare at you. Sometimes with zero emotion, sometimes with a vindictive smile on their face. Sometimes they'll throw in a single line to hurt you further, for me it was "well then I guess you'll be pissed I took her home for Easter too."
I believe that when people cheat it is rarely about the person that they're in a committed relationship with. Not a power dynamic or anything else. They have an emptiness inside of them that they are trying to fill with outside validation instead of looking within to fill it themselves.
The excuses and gaslighting of their partners is a defense mechanism against having to do the work and deal with the emptiness that they probably don't even know that they need to address. They will never be truly happy until they work on themselves. They'll just be drifting from one validation high to the next. It's a sad existence, really. But still not a reason not to throw the whole cheater away!
It is often insecurity based and they do feel shame about what they’ve done but it just gets turned around in their head. Their internal problems are not excuses for this behavior but it can help the true victims to realize they did nothing wrong, it was never about them, and all they ever had control over was themselves.

I remember visiting my fiancé, innocently looking through his phone, expecting to see pictures of my dog he was caring for (while I was working in another state), him with my younger brothers he’d hung out with recently, maybe some pics of work stuff or goofing around with his friends/family… I did NOT expect to find p*rn! I was legitimately shocked and straight up asked him about it. He first tried the “why were you looking through my phone” and I reminded him he’d said there were some pics he’d wanted to show me so I had thought that was an invitation to open up his album and look… I didn’t realize I needed his permission or a warning so that he could cover up his weird fetishes (some were seriously f’d up). He tried to tell me that he’d let a guy from work use his phone (they were always talking about p*rn) which was a stupid excuse but stupid me wanted to believe him… Well, let’s just say, it was definitely his and as for his fetishes, there’s a reason he can’t keep a woman (between that and his manipulative, narcissistic behavior, he’s no Prince Charming). Also, it was well known that most of the guys he worked with cheated and he’d laugh about it but swear he never had/would but I don’t believe it at all...Not after everything I learned and experienced myself. Not my problem anymore but I feel bad for his kid and the mother (left him faster than I did) as well as any other woman who falls for his good ol’ boy charms… He’s a master liar, manipulator, and yes, he will blame everything he’s ever done on you for not being there with/for him every moment of the day. Man up and take responsibility for your own actions!
