- In this project, I will teach you how to make a concrete coffee table. You will learn how to build the frame of the table, how to make modern table legs, how to attach cement board, how to mix the concrete and apply it to the table, and how to seal the concrete! Most concrete table projects weigh a ton and cost a lot of money, but I was able to build this table for less than $75 and it only weighs about 50 pounds!

Cool cheap way to do that. I liked the look of the top a lot more than if you would of done a big pour.

Thank you! I don't think it would last too long outdoors. Concrete is not waterproof, but you could put a heavy duty sealer on top. Regardless, the elements would probably damage it over time

is the cement board a necessary step? I’m building a sculpture and want to use the same method but since it’s not a rectangle (more of an obelisk) I don’t know if i would be able to cut the cement board in that shape

I’m thinking about trying this finish on a bar top, just not sure how it will hold up. Did you use 3/4 OSB and 1/4 wonderboard?
Correct. Not sure how it will hold up on such a heavily used surface but I’m hopeful. I would make it relatively thick and add a good amount of sealer

Glad we have the same eye for design! It is from CB2 but I believe it has been discontinued. We got ours from an outlet store on discount. You may be able to find one secondhand though
How is this under 75 dollars if the cement mix is 68 on the Amazon link. Lumber is quite expensive nowadays also. Not hate just curious ? If there’s a breakdown some where I missed ?
As you know prices fluctuate quite a lot over time. This video was published almost 2 years ago so the prices are much different today. I purchased my cement mix for $20 when I built the table. You may be able to find the cement mix for less in-store rather than online. Hope that helps!

What type of wood did you use for the base?
Just your standard pine. Used 2x4s

I do for most of my builds, and I thought I mentioned them in this video as well. If not, the table is 60" x 30" x 16"
What is the size of the table top?
The top is 54" x 30"
How did the corners do? Looking to replicate your method but worried about the longevity
Great question! I spent the most amount of time on the corners for that exact reason. I built them up in multiple layers and rounded them off a bit as well. It’s been several months since I built it and it has held up great with no cracking whatsoever. Hope that helps!

How much did your finished table weigh, cuz 😅
Maybe about 30/40 pounds. It’s deceivingly light

It is a little over 2" thick

Love the effort but forming out a concrete slab would’ve been cheaper and easier.
I’ve done it before and found this to be much easier to do at the same cost if not cheaper. You have to build a form and there’s a lot of prep work, not to mention cleaning it up after you take it out of the form. It’s also a much easier project as a one man crew. A slab of concrete at this size is upward of 200lbs!
