- ‘Sur Samrat’ - An exclusive series in two part by RSTV chronicles the outstanding life of the first superstar of Hindi film industry Kundan Lal Saigal. Kundan Lal Saigal was a singer, and actor in the early days of the Indian cinema. As a young man K L Saigal had several occupations. After he dropped out of school, he worked for a while as a railway timekeeper. Later he worked as a typewriter salesman this later occupation gave him the opportunity to travel widely in India. My father was a great fan of Sir KL Saigal. Whenever I hear his songs I go numb.
After listening to this biography all I have to say is where are these kind of people now. 😞
In 60s we happened to know Saigal when we as school going kids being alerted 'time up for school' by elders whenever Saigal song was on the air as a tribute in radio Ceylon just before 8 AM. That prompted us to know more about him. And today we know him as the greatest singer ever whose magic still mesmerize music lovers.

I also remember the last song before 8am on radio cylone. I think the program 7.30 to 8am was named BHULE BISRE GEET.
This is something which takes me back to my own golden period of life when I used to enjoy the most SRHGAL,S SONG'S. I thank those Orginators of this excellent video.

My father was very fond of Sahgal ji, being a very young child I remember only listening to Sahgal and , Atma voices played records on a gramophone. What magical voice that attracted me even at such tender age, was my hearts delight. No wonder I still find his singing unparalleled to any modern songs. Some memory’s never diminish and Sahgalji is one of them.

Let the present day young generation and KIDS who roams around with costly mobiles watch this video showing the greatest singer for generations after Tansen. Most part of his life, he lived in penury but with a golden heart. A man who loved only music and nothing else. The presentation is wonderful and nostalgic too. Kudos to Rajyasabha TV.
@@georgejoseph2656 Sir I was lucky enough to be taught how to musically Appreciate Sri K.L.Sehgal saahib in Ist year professional college in yr 1965 August . His name was Dr.A.Twari Sahib. I was interested in singing from childhood & my departed MUM WAS MY FIRST TEACHER FROM THE AGE OF 18 MONTHS WHEN I LEARNT TO TALK, & SHE TAUGHT ME HOW TO FOLLOW HER SINGING DEVOTIONAL SONGS DURING MORNING POOJAS.

My father was S M. in E. I. R in Moradabad Division. K. L. Saigal's, brother R.L. Saigal was his Colligue at some station. My father was fond of Saigal's songs some of 78 r p m record are still at my father's, home at, Bareilly R. L,Saigal was some times in his last service days was, posted as Superintendent of Bareilly railway station.
