So much fun to watch you discovering our boy Dimash!!! Keep going. He never disappoints. Every song is unique and brings new surprises. He keeps you engaged, and you never want to let go. I don't know how many takes he does on MVs, because he has perfect pitch, but he's also a perfectionist and is constantly working to improve. Most Dears (what he calls his fans) agree he is best live. Not only is his voice phenomenal live, but he has so much great energy and emotion, and his concerts show how personable he is, and how much he loves his fans. A lot of time when he goes into the studio, he nails it with just one or a couple of takes. He knows his voice intricately, and he will usually predetermine how he wants the song and vocals to progress throughout the song. Since he's so comfortable shifting between registers and timbres, he has no trouble remaining either consistent (when shifting the song to a live performance), and even doing live variations on the fly according to his mood and the audience (as well as the venue)

Jacob Testituto- What happened to Dimash’s voice, why he is able to reach such high notes you ask? The following is what I have gleaned from watching interviews of Dimash (rare, he gives very few), his grandparents, and parents. Early on his parents identified Dimash’s keen interest in music and cultivated that desire by sending him to music school at the age of 5. From a very young age, he knew that singing was his purpose. In his youth, Dimash sang in a choir with the girls in the soprano section for many years. Due to continuous vocal training through puberty, he managed to keep his high pitch. Let’s not forget, Dimash is innately gifted and industrious. Dimash gets his musical genes from his mother, Svetlana, a soprano and his father, Kanat, who is also a singer. While a guest on Russian TV last year, the host played a clip of his parents (highly regarded in Kazakhstan) in their youth- Dimash’s staccato sounds like his Mom! At university Dimash studied under the same vocal mentor who taught his mother. His grandparents are also musically inclined. Having attained a Masters degree in Composition last year, Dimash is currently pursuing a PhD and is looking forward to writing his thesis. He strongly believes that one has to continue learning.

Dimash often closes his concerts with Screaming and the prolonged version has a lot of great staging with his dancers. He also raps, yes raps in Kazakh in the middle of it. He is also known to give his security a heart attack by jumping into the audience and singing with them.

Dimash is a perfectionist and a workaholic. In interviews on Kazak TV, he stated that he wakes up at 5AM (7 days a week). By 5:30AM he has begun doing 3 hours of vocal exercises (scales, arpeggios, lip bubbles, etc..). That is before he even begins his workday in the studio or at rehearsals for a concert. To improve his lung capacity and breath control, he will either swim laps in a pool for 1 hour uninterrupted or hit the treadmill for a 5k run. Sometimes, he will substitute that for a full-on 90 minute soccer match with his mates and their team. (He has good ball skills as you can see here: th-cam.com/video/kt_lokOZLWw/w-d-xo.html ). He doesn’t drink, either! He will often work 12-14 hour days. He says he hates vacations. Dimash is the real deal when it comes to showing how hard work and dedication will make you succeed!

Dimash usually performs live so what you see is what you get. It helps that he is pitch perfect. I would recommend watching Screaming, Idol Hits. Dimash changed the song in subtle ways especially for this show. It is the first time you will get to hear him Rap. You should be able to find it on his Official TH-cam site. Then, do yourself a favor and watch his first concert Bastau. Always enjoy watching your reactions, and I’m so glad you’ve gotten on the Dimash train. Between him and Pentatonix that’s about all I listen to. I’ve yet to find a female soloist to capture my mind like these two have. For a progression look, ( SOS was really his breakout performance over 4 years ago ) I’d suggest Across Endless Dimensions, which is a music video for the sci fi movie Creators - Past. It showcases as a performer how he’s matured, and how his English has gotten better. Another excellent tune, and there are so so many, is Adagio from the Singer Competition ( the same as SOS ). Dimash usually performs live so what you see is what you get. It helps that he is pitch perfect. I would recommend watching Screaming, Idol Hits. Dimash changed the song in subtle ways especially for this show. It is the first time you will get to hear him Rap. You should be able to find it on his Official TH-cam site. Always enjoy watching your reactions, and I’m so glad you’ve gotten on the Dimash train. Between him and Pentatonix that’s about all I listen to. I’ve yet to find a female soloist to capture my mind like these two have. For a progression look, ( SOS was really his breakout performance over 4 years ago ) I’d suggest Across Endless Dimensions, which is a music video for the sci fi movie Creators - Past. It showcases as a performer how he’s matured, and how his English has gotten better. Another excellent tune, and there are so so many, is Adagio from the Singer Competition ( the same as SOS ). Those are my suggestions, but I’m sure you’ll figure out your own path. Regardless, I’ll be there with you! Take it easy Jacob!

I enjoyed watching both this reaction and the SOS reaction, I like your take on doing reactions so will check out some of you reactions to other artists as well. When it comes to Dimash he sounds good no matter what he do or how he does it but I have to admit that I very often prefer his live perfomances over his studio recordings.
