    To add on to the part where Denise recalls her history and rightly says Zambia was called Northern Rhodesia before its independence, after 1964 when we got independence from the Brits (I am Zambian by the way), Zambia hosted the liberation struggle freedom fighters from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia and Angola. They had their HQs in Lusaka and we even built colleges for them to get skills as they prepared to go and run their countries eventually.
    Reggae Music by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Culture, Eric Donaldson...the list endless was a very integral part of our music scene because it was liberation music and was so appropriate for the times. I was a kid growing up in the 70s and the only music we listened to apart from our own Zambian #Zamrock and #Kalindula music was reggae and really Roots Reggae. I am 50 years old now and reggae is my default music as a result.
    Just to add to the excellent interview of the graceful Denise.
    Peace, Love and Harmony.

    Great interview as always Xavier. And great interviewee Denise. She need to open the patty shop and introduce it there. Loved her mention of home in Jamaica at Ewarton at the foot of Mt Rosser. I stopped to buy bread there many times while going to or coming from Ocho Rios Thanx to your informative vids Xavier and that of several African vloggers the curtain on the REAL AFRICA is opened up and reveals a gorgeous place/continent. It is because of these videos i visited Tanzania and Kenya recently and now i cant wait to visit the rest of it. The splendor and grandness of this visually stunning green and tropical.continent is unparralled. Can't wait to return and ultimately move there from the west. We diaspora blacks, are from.an amazing place! Big ups and blessings Mama Africa and its people!

    Yes Denise, the British proposed grouping their former colonies into federations before granting independence.. The West Indies Federation fell apart and so did the Federation of Northern Rhodesia, Southern Rhodesia and Nyasaland, the independent countries now called Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi. Since some countries are
    landlocked, I understand the proposals better. In the early 1960s, there was such changes in the British Colonial world to learn and absorb. Jamaicans are living in some of these places now.

    Murphy you're not a very good presenter you're not listening to your guests she already tell you how long she was living in Africa and asking her the same thing again and your questions are very weak and boring you need to ask your guests how people can make money in Africa ya dig ☝🏾💰

    I have no problems with Jamaica being where I'm from. I'm not searching for a new spiritual home. By the way, my father is Jewish, born and brought up in Jamaica. Shall I cut myself in half and send one half of me to Israel and the other half to Ghana? JAMAICA is my home!!!

    • @karleinegraham446
      @karleinegraham446 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you don't have to divide yourself in two!! We can visit these much older civilizations and learn. If funds and time permit, it would be good to see Israel and Ghana. I visited Israel and the Bible came alive for me there. To visit places where the patriarchs lived and Jesus walked was a pilgrimage for me. When this pandemic is over, Ghana is in my sights. We can love Jamaica but Marcus Garvey cautioned us to not swap a continent, Africa, for an island. The history of the Hebrew people from which your Dad is descended is well documented. The Hebrews' struggles, their quest for God, slavery, freedom, loss of homeland, and triumph against the odds are so well documented. Their sacred book informs and touches the heart, so that many people in the world borrow the words of the Hebrews' story to depict their own plight. I hope that you will visit these places if you can.Shalom, Peace be with you.

    You can’t see the fullness of Vic falls on the Zambian side

    • @kingslj
      @kingslj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very true. You can't see the full Vic falls on the Zim side either. Both sides have good views of the falls & that's why it is always good to see both sides if one has the time. However, even just seeing the Vic falls on either side is thrilling.
