    An update: The gentleman who purchased this trailer has decided that he does NOT like camping, and is selling the trailer, for anyone who might be interested: goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=418214#p418214

    I find, for myself, it is actually easier just to lift up the rear support from the outside, and it will spring into place by itself. It’s also easier to collapse it from the outside. Nice trailer. I have the Aspen Classic myself. I’m sure it will sell quickly.
    I hope you will inform whoever buys it that parts are no longer available from the company. I’ve had mine since 2006 and it’s a great trailer. Great job on the video.

    I purchased mine from Carbondale, Colorado, Aspen Classic, setup and very anxious to use it but had bad luck with my daughter’s puppy got on it and ripped up the tent. I never got to use it. 2 years ago, I bought replacement tent , still haven’t got around to installing it. So, it’s sitting in backyard waiting for me. It’s depressing. Hopefully this summer I’m going to roll up my sleeves and work on it. Start ignoring everyone else till I’m done !!! Take off moments I have chance. !!! Lol
    Hey !! I rewatched your video… liked your idea of front frame pvc to flooring… I recalled wind does twist the tent… that I could do mine when I rebuild it.

    Its a shame Aspen and so many other "recommended" manufacturers of camper trailers like this are no longer in business. They all seemed to have folded during the pandemic.

    That looks like a great companion to your Goldwing! Someone should buy them both and keep them together. I don't need another bike, I don't need another bike! I feel a bug biting me 😂

    I found this video interesting even though I have no desire to tow any trailer with a motorcycle. A 1980 Goldwing isn't a good towing vehicle and as a truck driver, when I'm off duty i want to be light and hotel-bound. Great video and good luck on your sale!

    Scott it appears like you are preparing for Retirement.........or switching to minimalist mode. ( 🙂). Good Luck.

    I have enjoyed your videos. And you have been very helpful. I have a question for you. What year did Honda go to a 6th gear Manuel transmission?

    • @mrwhite2628
      @mrwhite2628 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Goldwing didn't have a 6 speed trans until 2018. In 2018 that came with either a 6 speed standard shift. Or a 7 speed DCT.

    Scott your videos have helped me tremendously. I am the 3rd owner of a 98 GL1500 SE. Your videos are easy to follow and entertaining. Do you have one on the bracket you used for your phone mount? I going to Sturgis this August and I am thinking of getting a Quad Lock phone mount, but would like to know how you mounted your phone to the handle bar or if you know the diameter of the handle bars.

      I mount it using a RAM mount clutch mount: amzn.to/3r5z6gr

    Hi Scott, I know this is a little off topic. I'm looking at a 2001 goldwing, the owner hooked the battery in reverse . The bike won't power up now, any ideas what I might be getting myself into. Thanks for any input.

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a serious mistake that can (and usually does) cause a LOT of expensive damage on a GL1800. I would probably walk away from that bike.

    Scott, I'm interested in this trailer (also your bike, but I already have my 1995 GL1500 SE). You kinda ran through the storage of the trailer very briefly, and I'd like to know more about it. I see that the tent part of the trailer really just rides on the top of the trailer with a cover, but I'm wondering how much storage the trailer box has. I have a toilet/shower tent along with the grill, toilet, sink and so on that I would need to take along. Would this trailer have the storage capacity for those items?

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  ปีที่แล้ว

      The storage area is 22 cubic feet. In the video, you can see I have three 64-quart storage bins in there, with lots of space left over. I've also fit two full-sized hard-sided suitcases in there along with other gear. I would be surprised if you couldn't fit your gear in there.

    did you know that u can use a heavy duty screwdriver or tire iron to "jack up" the legs... you dont have to lift up on the trailer... a back breaking effort.
    And shave off and smmoth out the cups on the pvc brackets, they WILL poke through the top eventually

    does it raise your fuel consumption up towing the trailer ...also how much power and performance will it rob from the goldwing riding two up pulling the Trailer just curios? i own the 2010 gold wing has a tow bar never pulled a trailer with it ?

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My mileage goes from around 38-40 mpg highway down to around 27 mpg towing the trailer. It's not so much power you need to worry about, it's braking: with the weight of the trailer behind you, you definitely need to plan ahead when braking.

      @@GoldwingDocs i appreciate your quick response and honesty on towing a trailer behind a wing with braking and fuel usage ..its pretty much the same when towing a caravan behind my car allow more stopping distance cuts consumption in half thanking u

      Can brakes be added to the trailer? And what is the approx tongue weight?

    • @charleetho
      @charleetho ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scottg4669 My Aspen classic came with brakes though they were never hooked up. There are brake kits available for the Dexter axles on Aspen trailers. etrailer sells the parts. Tongue weight should be 10-15% of the trailer weight. He said the Sentry is 300lbs. So, 30-40lbs? My Aspen classic is probably closer to 450lbs loaded.

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scottg4669 Yes, you can add brakes - see the links below. And tongue weight is 24 lbs empty.
