    what about a clover/chicory/radish mix late summer

      You can plant that with your brassica plantings at same time then the following spring you’ll have a clover plot

    I would spray a new clover plot may 5th time period with round up. Then spread the clover seed with buckwheat and a little oats the rain will beat seed into ground. Mow August. I have gad better luck the frost seeding into wheat.

      @@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors i just find i usually plant heavy seed rates to reduce weeds. Easier to spray off and seed as soon as glysophte dries.

      @@yeetpotato5096 no. Clover takes a bit to get going. The shade keeps the sun from droughting it out.

    I'm going to let the rye, wheat and clover green up for spring. Will terminate and plant buckwheat for the summer. Terminate and plant the green machine blend for fall into winter. Need to keep working on my soil and the health of the deer. 👍

    When you mix winter wheat, rye and oats, what is the pound per acre of each, and how many pds p/a for brascia with that mixs, and how big does your turnips and radish get with your blend

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wayne depends on my location. If I’m up north in a colder climate then I won’t use oats. I’ll use wheat and rye at 100 pounds each per area.
      Warmer climate I’ll do 100 wheat, 50 rye, 50 oats.
      If I’m mixing brassicas in I’ll do whatever the brassica mix calls for say 4 pounds an acre I’ll add in 50 pounds of wheat. Just call depends on location.

    Most main brand seed companies put rye grass in as a filler.. not what I want in my foodplots.

    Do oats and winter wheat grow back every year

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both are annuals but winter wheat Planted in the fall will grow back in the spring.
      Oats planted in the fall most likely will
      Not come back in the spring depending on how cold it gets in the area they will frost out and die

    What should I plant in a small hunt plot that I can get equipment too? I’m really overwhelmed with all the options and I would like to hear from someone who knows what they’re doing

      Can’t it can get equipment to?
      Need more info.
      Plot size? Sunlight? What state? What area are you in a big wooded situation or tons of ag around? Lots of deer?

      Sorry for the lack of information, I have quite a bit of ag surrounding my plot lots of it is corn I have a pretty high deer population quite a bit of does, it is a small open area In the woods about 100 yards away from a bedding area in partial shade, about only a quarter acre. It’s in southern Michigan has 33-35 inches of rainfall per year and it doesn’t get to 20degree lows till late November

    So I have about 100 acres of alfalfa. Would it make a difference if I grew a half acre to 1 acre plot of a blend of brassica?
    We get plenty of deer on the farm, just trying to dial them into a specific spot. Looking for help/tips! Thanks.

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors

      For sure. 100 acres of the same food is hard to hunt. Planting something different in a strategic place can pull deer in. What state is this

      I’m in Maryland. If that’s close to your frost then back up the time frame to 50 days or so before your frost and plant.

    can you provide a basic seasonal seed and timing guide for me plz...i live in west texas and its hot and dry in summer. we are at the top of the map of warm season, and just below transition area, and average only 22 inches of rain per year. Im thinking i need to plant lab lab to get started and plant soon. But i want a year round plan. Looking for assistance, and looking to attract deer, turkey quail and dove. Oh....and I should note, we do have wild hogs around....so that might be a consideration for best seed choices. There is cotton fields surrounding the property. Where i want to plant is about a 20 acre property, with open natural fields, and some mequite thicket on the back half. Starting with two 1/4 acre food plots this year. Thx...any help appreciated so i dont waste too much money. One field was disked and planted already, but I used the wrong seed blend. "walmart special" bag of mega plot...which yall indicated was more of a fall blend. Learning curve begins
