George Martin booked Vic Flick for the session as he wanted that spy guitar sound. According to his website he used his 1962 Fender Stratocaster and 1962 Fender Vibrolux amplifier. There is another version of this song commercially released where brass takes the melody and Wikipedia records the rhythm guitar played by Jimmy Page. Like Tom's recording there is a rhythm guitar on the version in the film but I don't know who played that.
