So hard to trust Microsoft when it comes to PC due to there history. But man, being able to play Metro Exodus on Game Pass PC sold me. The future is brighter for the Xbox brand and there's so much more to go. We need quality games like what Nintendo and PlayStation are offering. The future will be amazing in this industry
Two years later after this interview, Xbox now owns Call of Duty, Overwatch, Diablo, Spyro, Crash, Elder Scroll, Fallout, Starfield, Doom, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, Evil Within, Tony Hawk, StarCraft and Warcraft.
I think even though this is uploaded and streamed for free on YT, this interview is a major reason why I keep my Giant Bomb Subscription alive year to year.
I seriously need to re-up mine. I feel guilty when I remember that I haven't in sometime. This e3 coverage + interviews and the GB video podcast on YT it's so worth the cost imo.

Incredible guy and leader. I have always been a PS guy, but ever since this guy took the helm, the XBOX has been on an incredible trajectory. I am now a proud subscriber to game pass, and I love it. Keep up the good work Phil.
I'll agree the exclusives have been a little light this gen but with all the new investments by MS and the studios working on stuff, next gen should be a lot better as far as quantity and quality goes.
@@KizaruB That stuff takes time. He had to get the checkbook opened first, then start making moves. Once he got those studios, then development can take anywhere from 2-5 years depending on the quality of the title. Something like Fable or Halo take many years while something smaller that would just be brushed aside as "Xbox still has no games," might take 2-3 years.
My Xbox One has definitely taken a backseat to my PS4 and Switch this "generation", but the path MS seem to be taking and the games on show is beginning to win me over. I'll likely have every console next gen too, but I do like to mix it up and I will always go where I feel like I have more freedom with my games. Xbox has finally reached a place where I don't know what console I will by first next gen and that's exciting. I enjoy these interviews with Phil Spencer every year. He's a man who seems to balance his business speak with a sincere gamer-attitude and I appreciate that in a company lead.
NEONswift so what do you play when those single player one done games are well done .....so I guess you have a base Xbox one because if you had an X that PlayStation would be catching dust because you would be playing all the multiplats on the X ....

I'm sure I'm the first to post this but it's always great seeing this interview each year. Glad Phil is willing to come on and be so (seemingly) candid each year. Would love to see a series at GDC or something each year with Jeff doing relaxed interviews like this.
Mr Spencer is one of the few people within the industry who displays an genuine level of openness, you guys must have a good "bond" cause I dont think I have seen him this open and relaxed before. Just as the lads from CDPR, he doesnt sound, look and feel like the stereotypical corporate suit. Its impressive how he turned that ship around, but also has a real vision for what to come. Ive got the feelings he truelly believes in revolution and evolution.
I absolutely love Phil Spencer, what he does & has done for Xbox . & what Microsoft & Phil do in continuing to support the Gaming community as whole on all platforms. As well as Microsoft continually driving the the future of gaming .
Phil Spencer & Xbox are truly pioneering Modern gaming . They've been Working towards it for several years. but now have taken a few more steps towards uniting ALL Gaming ( PC, XBOX ,PS) & beyond. Which is why I'll ALWAYS choose XBOX
Wonderful talk. Very bold with his speech. One thing I like is people may not believe in his vision but you can't deny that he believes in it. It's one thing to listen to someone who try's to get you to believe something they themselves don't believe. But to say " that Phil Spencer is so full of it, I don't believe anything he says, but one thing is for sure is he believes it!" ...and for that I respect him.

It's an interview I look forward to every year since Phil took over Xbox. So good.
I look forward to this every E3. Thanks for another great interview
What I love about Phil is that he truly seems to want to better the industry, and not just make money.
Thank you Jeff, for always being so cool in this annual interview. You always ask the best questions and get such real answers from Phil.
37:32 Jeff asks his most burning question, for a game he pretends to not have been interested in lol
Some may not like him, but Phil is so friendly and insightful. Like how candid he is.
Is it weird that at the same time I also don’t like being candid because it ruins the surprise? Maybe it’s just me.
I'm glad so many other people look forward to this interview too.
And Thank You a lot for making the Darkness 2007 backwards compat! It's a hidden gem and one of best 360 games
Phil Spencer is such a good dude it seems like. I am more of a Sony fanboy, but i freaking love this guy.
Man i had a Xbox x and didn't care hole loat but now this interview showed me that Phil is on right path for future of Xbox gonna get new one for sure!
Just out of the blue, but I really appreciate the great sound quality 👌 The voices are nicely compressed and clear ❤️
Phil Spencer is not just the face of Xbox these days but is also becoming the new face of MS... he is so grounded and down to earth in this interview...
I'm not a fan of X-BOX but there's a real feeling of trust that I get from Phil Spencer.
that feeling of trust is what a good con man and liar gives you.
back compat = delivered
smoother xbox experience = delivered
tons of useful features = delivered
People complained about the xbox being underpowered = delivered

@@whothou have fun with features ill play real AAA exclusive ips on the play station...enjoy your feature experience...lmao.

Phil Spencer is the complete and wholesome definition of a good leader and good sportsmanship
I'm sure I'm the first to post this but it's always great seeing this interview each year. Glad Phil is willing to come on and be so (seemingly) candid each year. Would love to see a series at GDC or something each year with Jeff doing relaxed interviews like this.
Big Jeff and Big Phil's yearly pow-wow has become one of the best parts of E3.
Forget Master Chief, Phil is the biggest gun Xbox has in its arsenal. They should be thankful.
They should make a game where you play as Phil Spencer bringing diplomatic peace to the universe.
Thank you, thank you Phil for helping to get PSO2 out to the states. Been waiting for this game for years!
A Phil & Keanu buddy cop game would melt the internet.
YEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!
Got to love Phil
I absolutely love Phil Spencer, what he does & has done for Xbox . & what Microsoft & Phil do in continuing to support the Gaming community as whole on all platforms. As well as Microsoft continually driving the the future of gaming .
Phil Spencer & Xbox are truly pioneering Modern gaming . They've been Working towards it for several years. but now have taken a few more steps towards uniting ALL Gaming ( PC, XBOX ,PS) & beyond.
Which is why I'll ALWAYS choose XBOX
This video is stellar. The interview done by Jeff and the interaction with Phil is excellent. Thank your!
Always one of the best parts of E3. The difference between Phil and Don Mattrick is night and day. Glad he's running the show now.
Always love these talks. Phil seems like a good dude.
He seems like a bad CEO!
@@blackrosepanther said no one ever.
No kidding: Phil's authenticity, integrity and passion is quite a lighthouse in the industry... One more reason to look forward to the new MS console... What a great conversation btw...
Phil Spencer is the best! Thank you guys
Ty
Listening to the PSO2 stuff is great, hopefully it means a UK/EU release sooner rather than later as it’s NA only so far :-(. Also PSO Ep1&2 on BC would be epic!
Giant Bomb - you did it again. Excellent interview - kudos.
yes! been waiting for this
How is it that I feel comfortable listening to this.....long time coming
Bringing PSO2 to the Xbox is everything. Thanks Phil and Sega. Legends.
Yeah, i think my next gen console is gonna be Scarlet because of this one man. Such an awesome and genuine dude. Hope he gets on the podcast once in a while.
