Rich is the sort of bloke that overhears you and your mates in the pub talking about something impossible and just chips in an says "I can do that" you think he's like every billy big bollocks bugger in the past, but then he proves you wrong, say, "told ya" and carrys on drinking his pint as though it never happened
Went to him for a double res delete on my M140i, cheap as you like but quality job and even made sure to make the cuts in a way that allows the original resonators to be refitted 👌🏻
Been going to Rich for some time now, got few cars done, great guy, good quality work and fair pricing. Great to see him getting good exposure even though he’s booked for next few months. Great video..
My mate has his dads old 1988 bmw 750(e32) which he has done the same too That sounds awesome. Great video as usual. Glad you didn’t go with the side exit on this car
I remember you mentioned that its very special to have a 4.0 straight six. In fact older Jeep Wranglers and Cherokees had a 4.0 straight 6 and it was one of the best engines to come out of Chrysler.
@@apexmarbella no, this is the x300 and they all had a inline six, plus a V12. From mid 97, the revised XJ (x308) had the V8s and the V12 was dropped not long after.
Brilliant video. Must admit, although it sounded lovely on idle, it sounded a bit 90's Max Power Peugeot for me at high revs. Audio was quiet on the video (the ads nearly deafened me). Keep the content going, and keep Taylor!
That’s awesome but personally I’d want it with another box to make it nice and quiet with a little rumble but with a control bypass valve for when you want the high notes 👍🏻 best of both then
Now I understand why the volume is so low on this video. The ending makes up for it 😄 I am still eagerly waiting to see the result of the Fiats paint job.
Alex, you and Taylor (& Rory) are such an amazing gang! I really hope you guys go on another road trip like that one you did to Wales (heck, the first part of that at Castle Combe never fails to make me laugh 😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣)
Sounds immense and is a proper awesome car now. One of Alex's cars should have a side exit exhaust though I'm glad its not this one, keep it relatively standard with a few minor upgrades as its a real classic car now.
The valve is called a jiggle pin and you can test a thermostat by feeling the temp of the top and bottom radiator hose. When the top hose gets too hot to hold the bottom hose should start to get hot, if the bottom hose doesn't start getting hot the thermostat is closed.
Alex I really like how you doing stuff. I do think you genuinely find value in the craftsmanship that goes into some of these great vehicles. Even if you were to do catch and release I'd still be content. Your sense of style is great and your friends are awesome. You could possibly be even an upgrade to Jeremy Clarkson and the 2000s Top Gear.
I had a XJ6 1995 4.0 S ,best car I ever owned,I used to get comments all the time and only paid £1200 for it ,had it 3 years and got my money back,20mpg average, and rust under car is common, lovely looking car
Oh Alex no, not straight pipes! Even with a single central muffler these things are unbearable. I had to drive mine with that exhaust setup from South Carolina to Massachusetts (over 900) miles when I first bought it, and breaking down ten miles from home was almost a sonic relief.
I have a 4.2 supercharged s-type as a fun car. I had a bespoke stainless straight pipe system made for it , I owned my own garage at the time. Ruined the car . Sounded great revving it up in the pub car park , but 5minutes on the motorway and I wanted to die. It stayed on for about 2 weeks. Sold it on fleebay for £700.😂😂
@@Doug791 At least you got some money out of it! Exhaust experimentation can be a pricey thing. I have found that having just the factory back boxes on a Jag (and straight-piping everything else) is a great balance between making for fun revs in the parking lot while keeping it mostly civilized on the motorway.
It's ONE of the reasons why I watch this channel, when you do your CarVertical sponsor bit, I look forward to you showing the 'Damage' to the cars you show, and MAN!!! That m4!!! JEEEEEEEZUZCHRISSST!!! 😮😮😮 😎🇬🇧
I had a 96 xjr for awhile. Money pit. Throttle bodie get gummed up and stuck shut. Trans rebuild. Never was right but a beautiful big boat and a great engine on paper.
Excuse me but I think I had a proper trouser accident when I first heard the noise that Jaaaag made, what a legend of a fabricator to boot. Proper stuff Alex and gang right here.
Making me contemplate a new exhaust on my 4.2 X100 XKR (same shape as Alex’s but with the bigger engine). I bought it with an after market exhaust on that sounds good but can always be improved.
Alex, your content is awesome. Love what your doing. I understand it’s hard work but 1 video a week ain’t cutting it. We need more. 2 a week would be nice lol
Maaaybe gained a few horsepower. Heavily likely lost a lot of torque. An entirely free flowing exhaust is not the best choice. You have to balance your exhaust to your engine's needs.
Can I suggest something Alex. Please doth the jag and other weird stuff. When you got 20v turbo we were all glued to the screen, when you do track stuff we are all glued to the screen. Please more coupes, sporty cars, track days, and even visual mods, but less jags and camping
I’ve got huge hangers. If you did side exits on that, the back end of the car, not least a Jaaag, just wouldn’t look right, due to the ‘designed in’, bumper exit points
I keep forgetting that this is an I6, since we never got the early versions of the XJR here. We only got them when they switched to the horrible V8 Thermostat sticking closed is actually an incredibly rare failure. In 20 years as a professional mechanic, I think I saw that once. It is way, way, way more common for them to stick open or open prematurely. Replaced hundreds of thermostats due to the engine running too cool, maybe one or two for running too hot.
Ha I was looking forward to this episode, saw the auction onenthis morning, deglecting to check when it was posted I had no idea when this follow up episode would come in.
That sounds insane!!! 👌, Loving the channel Alex keep up the barmy projects also you and Taylor make a top duo with great screen presence its like watching 2 giddy toddlers. 😄

Oh aye
Saw that cheeky baby bell at 6:16 😂
Volume/ sound is fairly low mate
@joe griffins 3:35 ?
sick video, did anyone else have audio issues? i had my shit cranked but still really quite
Rich with that mad burnout in the end. What a legend 🤣
RIP Alex’s tires lol
Rich went "Like and SubscreeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Legend.
Best burnout I've seen on TH-cam for a while..... And it was indoors!? Quality
Rich was setting up a time travel experiment
Quality 😂

you think he's like every billy big bollocks bugger in the past, but then he proves you wrong, say, "told ya" and carrys on drinking his pint as though it never happened
Spot on! i was thinking the same!
I guess he's also the guy you both love and hate living next door to his workshop 🤣
Went to him for a double res delete on my M140i, cheap as you like but quality job and even made sure to make the cuts in a way that allows the original resonators to be refitted 👌🏻
Rich looks like a crazy Doctor gone mad from doing so many experiments. Definitely a returning character to the show.
Hopefully replaces Taylor
@@CarsandtheirParts Nah Taylor is a g
Your videos are genuinely something I look forward to every week... Brilliant content as ever Alex!
Thanks mate!
Agreed, it's like car throttle held you back. Taylor awesome addition too.
Taylor is more than knowledgeable, true enthusiast.
Taylor is to the show what the wax is to the thermostat
We all need a Kettle.
Rich is ‘the machine’! Think we need his colab on other projects
Rewatching this warms my heart, all you fighting over Jimmy, now i have him 🥺❤️✌🏼😎🦙
Keep it classy(ish)… Side pipe the next one, not this one! 🙏 Amazing content Alex. Thank you! 🙌
Rich really knows how to do a proper shed skid! What a legend 👍
Wood and Al at the Skid Factory just stirred a moment then 🤣
LOVED HOW THE FABRICATER REVVED THE BRAKES !!!
I thought I'm the only guy who noticed 🤣🤣🤣 good job mate
Been going to Rich for some time now, got few cars done, great guy, good quality work and fair pricing. Great to see him getting good exposure even though he’s booked for next few months. Great video..
that burnout sounded awesome

I remember you mentioned that its very special to have a 4.0 straight six. In fact older Jeep Wranglers and Cherokees had a 4.0 straight 6 and it was one of the best engines to come out of Chrysler.
Straight 6 is smoother and simpler than a V8 but with a more modern dual overhead cam.
Now I understand why Rich has a two month waiting list. Jeez that sounded monstrous!
Amazing. That’s proper bank robbery getaway. Can’t beat a straight six for a great racing sound!
*V8
@@apexmarbella this one is a straight 6
@@harveyshaw1466 Sorry, may have missed a video or 3 watching World Cup 2022. This XJR is now a straight 6 conversion?

@@GentilsGarage Apologies, señor. Enjoyed a '98 and '03 V8 in real life and stepped straight into the title on catching up on the channel. Sorry.
Love seeing Alex doing videos on this channel.
A bit more personal than the other channel.
Props to rich, guys clearly the real deal with this stuff
Outstanding result
drivetribe / alex / hammond shootout is going to be awesome 🙂 looks like you won the soundoff event anyway !
Rich is the most genuine car enthusiasts in the the game my husband had his lexus GS 430 in for a full system sounded absolutely amazing 😍
Some audio level issues in this video.... but I totally get why 😁
This is what audio compressors are made for 👍
Brilliant video.

The advert coming in was louder than the car, though both made me jump.
Oh and Rich was the star of the show. What a metalworking wizard.
We NEED to see more of Rich!
Single greatest car you’ve bought yet. And that exhaust is out of this world. Love it
Sounds immense and is a proper awesome car now. One of Alex's cars should have a side exit exhaust though I'm glad its not this one, keep it relatively standard with a few minor upgrades as its a real classic car now.
no worries Alex, but audio problems.... very quiet then VERY loud at full volume
"No ones ever been killed by a side pipe.. lots of people been killed by Lions"
Pure poetry
That's so true and a great justification as to why fitting a side pipe is safer than the usual lion that comes as standard.
That's sounds amazing wow I need some of that noise in my life
I will say that central wiper is fantastic. This car is awesome
I love it too!
The valve is called a jiggle pin and you can test a thermostat by feeling the temp of the top and bottom radiator hose. When the top hose gets too hot to hold the bottom hose should start to get hot, if the bottom hose doesn't start getting hot the thermostat is closed.

Taylor is the Bob Ross of the car servicing. Also if you're going to side pipe something, it's got to have 8 cylinders and be a classic right? :P
I had a 96 xjr for awhile. Money pit. Throttle bodie get gummed up and stuck shut. Trans rebuild. Never was right but a beautiful big boat and a great engine on paper.
Wide body kit and factory alloys with wide friction welded barrels would look wicked.

Don't often like any videos on TH-cam but i had to see after seeing that sick burn out, Rich is a boss
Congrats on the new car Rory remember it’s only £25 to apply for log book then it’s truly urs 😂
Working at a maindealer for jag i always thrive to see the potential in these engines. Least you have ticked off a box for me !😂
Newer jags are terrible, love the oldies.
Had Rich build me a full 3" exhaust system in the past, his work is really top quality stuff, he knows his shit for sure

That is the goal for '23 🙏
rich did the exhaust on my jzx, the guy is an absolute hero
Excellent! Glad to see the mods coming through! :D
Ragging that cold engine after he finished the exhaust was painful to watch
You guys are nailing it with this channel 👍
Loved the shed skid and the nod to Mighty Car Mods playing the air filter like Moog plays intercoolers.
Another decent alex video as usual 👍
needs to go back on the dyno after the new pipes and induction kit be interesting to see how much its gained
Maaaybe gained a few horsepower. Heavily likely lost a lot of torque. An entirely free flowing exhaust is not the best choice. You have to balance your exhaust to your engine's needs.
the volume is SUPER LOW in this video wtf
I was wondering if I was the only one thinking that.
I got my Audi rs5 done at Rich’s! Amazing job and so great to see you guys use him as well
What generation? Would love to own one at some point all A5 variants have such a stunning look
Do not side pipe it !
As someone who wants to buy the jag when youre done with it no side pipes please just oem plus it alex! Love the videos dude x
Alex, loving the straight pipes!! Am in St Omer and we've just bought a 6 pack of Candy Up!!! For you dude!
15:57.... A magical moment when an old Jag says "Hold my beer"
Cracking vid as always, your sound was mixed *very* low on this one though. Had headphone amp and PC volume cranked to max!
Sidepipe it!!!
Oh man that burnout at the end had some serious Midnight Club 3 vibes going on in my head :D
You should definitely put exhaust pipes coming out of the front fenders…fighter jet style.
I reckon big man Alex is getting a Citroen C6, about time he got some amazing reliable French class on the channel🙏🤔

I feel this car is worthy of nothing less then side pipes, they are the perfect exhaust for that car in my opinion.
That guy who is working on exhaust is a pro on safety squints :D
Been to Rich a few times for some welding absolute top man

Love what you're doing Alex! But you need to boost the audio on your videos, I'm struggling to hear with full volume.
'Come to Richard's fabrications'... Unless you want to keep your ear drums and lungs... 😂
That man is a genius. That car tickled my ear drums right good. Proper job.
Can see Rich is an absolute Dark Horse! Horse 🐴 🐎 what a result that sounds the absolute Nuts! Can't wait to hear it drive through a Tunnel!
Alex is a genius on the air filter
I must say Taylor's voice is very soothing.
Such a nice sound... Had to re-watch with headphones on.... Go on.... Treat yourselves and grab a headset... Do it now!
I love the jaguar content on this channel, The reason i subscribed to this channel
Rich is a legend. He’s done a few of my cars! Amazing work comes out of his workshop
I like Taylor even more when he's got a cold and sarcastic as shit 🤣
There was something quite iconic about Rich working away on the air filter while Alex played the air filter
Why not add sidepipes to that but make em work with a switch so with a button you can switch between sidepipe and straightpipe
