I really miss the battlefield 3 days. Even battlefield 4 was fun after they finally fixed it. I don't know what possessed them to stray so far from that formula.

I loved Battlefield, not because of the gigantic maps or player numbers, but because it was generic-dead simple. You can either be a sniper, medic or support, and there is no unique ability that could call an air strike for you. If you need air support, be one. Also, it was a balanced-paced game, unlike a player running on steroids. Secure your area and defend it how you like it. You don't need to be an aim expert. Even an average player can give the enemy a hard time.
“If you need air support, be one” MAN!! That’s what made me fall in love with battlefield! Your 4 man squad boots on the ground in a hectic gunfight and here comes a totally random 4 man squad from up above clearing the way for you… man BF3 was a different vibe!
I think you hit the nail on the. Each class is a role; medic heals others, sniper takes out targets from a distance, etc. Long as you're doing the role you're assigned, you're contributing and being valuable to the team. Losing those classes makes what you do feel aimless.
Battlefield is simple. We want team work, defined roles, a gritty atmosphere based in historical reality and a proper balance between vehicle and infantry. There’s a reason why BF1 was so loved compared to BFV, it did everything so well besides maybe lack of weapon variety.
BF1 single problem for me is lack of balance for stuff like planes and horses. Planes tank too much shots and only will die if they really mess up. And same goes for horses but they can hide easier.
"Based in historical reality", "weapon variety". You can only choose one of those options. In fact BF1 tried the latter with all kinds of experimental weapons or even with weapons outside the time period, not to mention the holographic sights on INFANTRY weapons. I get it, once you've tasted extreme variety and customization it must be hard to let go. Every triple A FPS has to be COD 4.
Remembering the difference bf3 made when it came out. That game still looks modern. I still hope battlefield can recapture that magic. They dont need to reinvent the wheel every game. Lets hope a great classic battlefield comes back

Battlefield 3, 4, 1 and 5 all felt like you're firing the gun you're holding. You felt immersed and part of the action. BF42 feels like you're just going along with the motions and shooting specs in the distance.
I think they fucked up by not working on a campaign mode. That’s what really made bf gameplay immersive since in bf 3 and bf4. If they had worked on a campaign they would have noticed that implementing this online momentum wouldn’t work.
Crazy how BFBC2 from 12 years ago has more than either! Just imagine what it would be like today if Nvidia was pushing how cool physics are instead of telling us how ray traced lighting will change our lives.

@@ChadSpittingTruth you can't really say the franchise recovered after BFV when 2042 is what we got. 2042 doubled down on all the mistakes BFV made (lack of live service content, elite classes -> specialists, dumping authenticity/immersion).
It's the lack of enviromental detail. At a glance you cannot distinguish why previous battlefields felt so much more... full, until you start watching the enviroment. In siege of Shangai, the only map "clean" as 2042, you still have barricades, paper everywhere, disorder and filthyness. And don't get me started on bf1 detail, just look at maps like passchendaele, prise de tahure, amiens, NIVELLE NIGHTS. So so much detail.
If only it wasn't broken af and I could actually play it at more than 20 fps and fully loaded textures/character models so they don't look like legos. This is on console btw. But I've seen it happen on pc as well.
I have a policy with certain games that no matter how many updates, restructures or “guys it’s good now”s, I’ll never buy it. Games like cyberpunk, or BFV where the publishers actively insulted or lied to me (I know they all lie but you know what I mean) Maybe it’s a weird to some people but game companies already have so many mindless, casual consumers that don’t give a fuck about quality. Voting with my wallet I know doesn’t help in a macro sense, but it’s nice to just say No.
When I look at this game, the weapons look light, plastic, artificial, there is no feeling. Simply terrible... But when I watch the new COD the game is so real, you feel the weight of the weapons, you feel the feeling for which you came to play...

I played the MW2 beta all week. I loved it. That being said ground war isn't doing Battlefield better than Battlefield anytime soon. You have to play both games in order to know and feel exactly how Battlefield games work. Ground War just feels like CoD with more players and REALLY overpowered vehicles. I'm back on BF 2042 after week and I have a new found appreciation for it because of Ground Wars shortcomings.

The progression of the Frostbite engine is actually *really* impressive. The only reason 2042 didn't live up to its potential is because of how they gutted the "battlefield experience." Removing the classes, adding specialists, making empty maps, and adding more players per match just because they could all made the game just not fun. All they needed to do was keep the gameplay similar to BF3 or BF4, but on this new iteration of the frostbite engine with new maps, guns, etc. This game had so much potential, but was ultimately ruined by unnecessary "innovation" that was actually a massive step backwards.
The ground war mode in the MW2 beta really filled the battlefield hole I have in my heart and I think it’s a really fun replacement, especially as a BF fan who never really got into the vehicles
I genuinely don't understand how a BF fan can find Ground War even remotely similar. No scale, no combined arms, no destruction, no teamplay, its literally just CoD with tanks.

Went back for a quick bf4 game yesterday and felt a bit odd. I felt like I would rather play 2042. I don't know, I think 2042 is really growing on me. Almost at 500hrs in the game now. Just wish they would bring back some of the elements in the older games.
I disagree with Vince - specialists, lack of destruction, map design, and basically the entire 2042 concept was a terrible idea from the start - implementation doesn't matter. It was always a terrible idea.
I hate the fact that they buried bf1942, bf Vietnam, bf2142 and bf 2. They were the absolute best battlefield games and I really wish they would go back to their roots and use their simple formula that actually worked. That formula paired with today's technology would be epic. Even the conquest mode in 2142 where each team had those floating mothership/base that in order to win the match you had to capture all the points and then infiltrate the enemy mothership and destroy it from the inside.
The game is a lot more enjoyable. Compared to MW2 beta, I’d play 2042 any given day. I’m not a die hard bf player. I grew up playing cod and I prefer cod but 2042 is more fun than cod rn. Just my opinion
Im BF fan, and MW2 beta is 100x better than BF2042. Its slower, it has more content, more realistic, looks better, plays better and as long as there are no tracer skins, I will play Ground War instead of BF2043
Kinda sounds like hes saying that there were no problems with the current ideas they just needed more time testing those new changes and more time developming on those changes. To me sounds like hes doubling down on those changes not reverting it them

Battlefield attempted follow CODs formula and capitalize on Micro-transactions by becoming a hero shooter. They put way too many resources on cosmetic items than epic experiences and an atmosphere that fits the games narrative. They also shifted the gameplay style to attract cod players
I feel like the gun play is there but the thing I don’t like about 2042 is how vibrant it is. The world is ending because of climate change but it looks like a beautiful sunny day with clear skies and the temperature is 75 degrees. I felt like bf4 looked grittier
I still think this game can be something great. Bring back classes, revamped specialist somehow, and move more BF content into portal like BF1, BF2, BF4 and BF5. Portal was a great idea just 2042 didnt have to power to support it with players and they moved maps/content to it to slow.
If they wanted specialists in the game, they should have used the BF2 mechanic of Heroes. Only certain amount of players can use them, & have to build up points to use them
Yesterday I had a 💩 time with MW2 dealing with try hards and NEVER hearing footsteps (even though other players can hear me and yes Ik dead silence is a thing but the amount of times I’ve died without hearing footsteps makes me believe that’s most likely not the case). Yet I played 2042 earlier today and got a few really good games. I guess imma still be playing 2042 MP and not MW2 when it launches. It’s gonna be strictly campaign and Spec-Ops for me.
MW2 beta had a lot of issues, but the only one with footsteps was that they are way too loud. If you didn't hear them, you should check your audio settings. Because those footsteps are nearly wallhack level effective for telling where enemies are.
Yeah try adjustong settings. For me footstep audio was much better in mw2. In mw19 the directional aound was hard to track for me. But its really good here. The volume is a bit high but i dont think its a huge issue like people say
Same thing yesterday, previous days the footsteps were fine. Then nothing but on the kill feed they could here mine and it crashed like 6 times just yesterday.
It was clear from the beginning that they strayed too far from what makes Battlefield unique and it's something to be concerned about. The fact that the leads Devs and Directors at Dice believed that 2042 was a good resemblance of BF it's worrying let alone just a good game. We've seen many studios over the years trying to create a BF clone and capitalize on Dice's failures but they end up failing because BF has a unique formula and it's not just a 32v32 game, it has so many little details that need to be perfected and yet we see Dice year after year trying to move away from what made BF so great. It's actually funny that others try so hard to reach that Battlefield level yet Dice wants to be more Cod-like. I feel like they are in a major identity crisis and with all the new personnel now and all those OG Devs leaving they've lost their touch.
I ABSOLUTELY HATE hero’s in battlefield and the future setting to, I wanna use characters that I can put myself in and weapons that are actually real, that I can’t get myself
Most commenting come from era of BC2 and so on. But before that there was massive amount of vehicles and guns. There was no frostbite, there was no blowing up a building with campers, and other things people are commenting on. Each game added things as they went on. I like the breaking of buildings but I would rather have better designed maps, net code, and team balancer over destructable buildings.

Indeed!! @jackfrags please play some rush. I would dare to say that this is one of the better rush experience one can have. The range of maps is great, they are build up very nicely and offer different strategies and the team play is actually existing in that game mode. More so than in breakthrough. They just have to end the forced play a map twice as defenders and attackers and include a clear countdown timer at the end of the match to keep a server full at the end of a round.

Until DICE bring back proper destruction, the number of vehicles properly tuned per map and persistent servers using a Server Browser I doubt I will be back to Battlefield in the future.
I feel battlefield needs to do what cod did and go back to its roots. I think the only battlefield that tried lots of new things that worked was BF1 (Which is a great game) I hope the next battlefield is like BF3/4 with the atmosphere of BF1. Great video Jack solid stuff.

god BF2042 looks so god damn barren wtf. It's just like flat planes of green ( supposed to be grass but it looks like a tennis court ) blocky empty lots with just flat texture and minor reflections. the entire thing looks like someone like me learned how to use the map maker and did the bare minimum
If they can pull off the 2142 remake or what ever it will be called because clearly that’s got to be the next one as there was to many hints on bf4 hence the map with the titan being built this game to me seems to be in between that if they can pull that game off and make it better than 2142 that’s peak bf for me
Me and my gf play lots of games together, but she doesn't really play fps games and has never played a Battlefield game previously. She tends to do better and have more fun playing 2042 over BFV and BF1 so far..

128 can work, but needs special mode, map design and overall extra attention and testing in order to work.

All they needed to do was keep the gameplay similar to BF3 or BF4, but on this new iteration of the frostbite engine with new maps, guns, etc. This game had so much potential, but was ultimately ruined by unnecessary "innovation" that was actually a massive step backwards.
Thanks to this game, I lost faith in pre-ordering games.

The ground war mode in the MW2 beta really filled the battlefield hole I have in my heart and I think it’s a really fun replacement, especially as a BF fan who never really got into the vehicles
I genuinely don't understand how a BF fan can find Ground War even remotely similar. No scale, no combined arms, no destruction, no teamplay, its literally just CoD with tanks.

Went back for a quick bf4 game yesterday and felt a bit odd. I felt like I would rather play 2042. I don't know, I think 2042 is really growing on me. Almost at 500hrs in the game now. Just wish they would bring back some of the elements in the older games.

I recently gave 2042 another shot and honestly, I've been pretty addicted to it. I missed BF and glad to see its more enjoyable now.
I disagree with Vince - specialists, lack of destruction, map design, and basically the entire 2042 concept was a terrible idea from the start - implementation doesn't matter. It was always a terrible idea.

I hate the fact that they buried bf1942, bf Vietnam, bf2142 and bf 2. They were the absolute best battlefield games and I really wish they would go back to their roots and use their simple formula that actually worked. That formula paired with today's technology would be epic. Even the conquest mode in 2142 where each team had those floating mothership/base that in order to win the match you had to capture all the points and then infiltrate the enemy mothership and destroy it from the inside.
The game is a lot more enjoyable. Compared to MW2 beta, I’d play 2042 any given day. I’m not a die hard bf player. I grew up playing cod and I prefer cod but 2042 is more fun than cod rn. Just my opinion
Im BF fan, and MW2 beta is 100x better than BF2042. Its slower, it has more content, more realistic, looks better, plays better and as long as there are no tracer skins, I will play Ground War instead of BF2043

Battlefield attempted follow CODs formula and capitalize on Micro-transactions by becoming a hero shooter. They put way too many resources on cosmetic items than epic experiences and an atmosphere that fits the games narrative. They also shifted the gameplay style to attract cod players
128 players mode was great.

I feel like the gun play is there but the thing I don’t like about 2042 is how vibrant it is. The world is ending because of climate change but it looks like a beautiful sunny day with clear skies and the temperature is 75 degrees. I felt like bf4 looked grittier

I still think this game can be something great. Bring back classes, revamped specialist somehow, and move more BF content into portal like BF1, BF2, BF4 and BF5. Portal was a great idea just 2042 didnt have to power to support it with players and they moved maps/content to it to slow.
After playing MW2 Groundwar, 2042 looks so arcady. MW2 really went for realism, and it showed!

If they wanted specialists in the game, they should have used the BF2 mechanic of Heroes. Only certain amount of players can use them, & have to build up points to use them

Yesterday I had a 💩 time with MW2 dealing with try hards and NEVER hearing footsteps (even though other players can hear me and yes Ik dead silence is a thing but the amount of times I’ve died without hearing footsteps makes me believe that’s most likely not the case). Yet I played 2042 earlier today and got a few really good games. I guess imma still be playing 2042 MP and not MW2 when it launches. It’s gonna be strictly campaign and Spec-Ops for me.
I hear all the footsteps. Get a better headset or change your settings.
MW2 beta had a lot of issues, but the only one with footsteps was that they are way too loud. If you didn't hear them, you should check your audio settings. Because those footsteps are nearly wallhack level effective for telling where enemies are.

For me footstep audio was much better in mw2. In mw19 the directional aound was hard to track for me. But its really good here.

Same thing yesterday, previous days the footsteps were fine. Then nothing but on the kill feed they could here mine and it crashed like 6 times just yesterday.
And people CoD guns have no recoil. Holy smokes that gun you're using is a laser beam.
It was clear from the beginning that they strayed too far from what makes Battlefield unique and it's something to be concerned about. The fact that the leads Devs and Directors at Dice believed that 2042 was a good resemblance of BF it's worrying let alone just a good game. We've seen many studios over the years trying to create a BF clone and capitalize on Dice's failures but they end up failing because BF has a unique formula and it's not just a 32v32 game, it has so many little details that need to be perfected and yet we see Dice year after year trying to move away from what made BF so great. It's actually funny that others try so hard to reach that Battlefield level yet Dice wants to be more Cod-like. I feel like they are in a major identity crisis and with all the new personnel now and all those OG Devs leaving they've lost their touch.
Even COD's Groundwar is more Battlefield than Battlefield....let that sink in🤡🤯

To corporations: Make something new, if you want to try something new. You work for your consumers.
Most commenting come from era of BC2 and so on. But before that there was massive amount of vehicles and guns. There was no frostbite, there was no blowing up a building with campers, and other things people are commenting on. Each game added things as they went on. I like the breaking of buildings but I would rather have better designed maps, net code, and team balancer over destructable buildings.

Indeed!! @jackfrags please play some rush. I would dare to say that this is one of the better rush experience one can have. The range of maps is great, they are build up very nicely and offer different strategies and the team play is actually existing in that game mode. More so than in breakthrough.
They just have to end the forced play a map twice as defenders and attackers and include a clear countdown timer at the end of the match to keep a server full at the end of a round.

Until DICE bring back proper destruction, the number of vehicles properly tuned per map and persistent servers using a Server Browser I doubt I will be back to Battlefield in the future.
I feel battlefield needs to do what cod did and go back to its roots. I think the only battlefield that tried lots of new things that worked was BF1 (Which is a great game) I hope the next battlefield is like BF3/4 with the atmosphere of BF1. Great video Jack solid stuff.

god BF2042 looks so god damn barren wtf. It's just like flat planes of green ( supposed to be grass but it looks like a tennis court ) blocky empty lots with just flat texture and minor reflections. the entire thing looks like someone like me learned how to use the map maker and did the bare minimum
If they can pull off the 2142 remake or what ever it will be called because clearly that’s got to be the next one as there was to many hints on bf4 hence the map with the titan being built this game to me seems to be in between that if they can pull that game off and make it better than 2142 that’s peak bf for me

Me and my gf play lots of games together, but she doesn't really play fps games and has never played a Battlefield game previously. She tends to do better and have more fun playing 2042 over BFV and BF1 so far..

SFAR-M is my fav. Absolutely destroys at range. Even with suppressor, can tap fire for med-long range kills all day long
